First time opening a bin of hotwheels my late father left for me  

Your dad had a good eye for things that aged well. I'd build a case display for just the cars he left you.

Born in 1964. My first Hotwheels car was a 1960's something green bubble back Barracuda. It was my favorite car so I played with it all the time. About 20 or 30 years ago a TV show had a collection of cars on for show and that car in the package was shown with an estimate of 13k dollars. The man said it was the rarest car because no one liked it, so it didn't sell very well.

I have fond memories of my dad and I standing at those big bins in stores full of Hotwheels cars searching through them looking for different sets of cars. My dad mainly collected farm equipment toys. I still have all of the stuff he collected throughout the years probably never get rid of it lol.

You hit the nail hard when you say us collectors don't really have a game plan, but to collect til we run out of space. I see your Dad collected both licensed castings and Hot Wheels originals. very cool. Tank Truck got Final Run. That Phantom Corsaire is one big hunk of Metal. I have the First Editions black one. Midnight Otto came in two wheel variations. It was just released again in the Warner Brothers 100 years anniversary set. Seems your dad went after the First Editions. That's what I'm after now a days.

Awesome cars this is why I got in too collecting my son has been collecting all his life and is now 11 my father in law is in to cars and is a fellow collector of diecast and started him early and hunting for hotwheels and customizing, hot wheels, and other diecast has gave us something to bond over and do together but I always give him first picks 😂😂 it’s a joy thank you for posting your dad’s collection

I have most of these. 93-2003 was the period I collected most of my MIBs. That purple VW Bus with the flames and redlines is sweet!

I started collecting in 1998 and it’s cool seeing this video cause some of the cars you’re showing I still have but opened, but on a glass shelf protected from dust, but you are right cause I myself don’t have no idea what I want to do with my collection ….. I like to collect them “dark blue” card ones them older hotwheels and I also target the realistic vehicles but I also like the bright clear colored fantasy cars but they must be clear vibrant colors

I used to head over to the Mattel Store as well. 1989-1994 (I think) I worked a split shift in Azusa and could make it over there for the opening. Many of us stood in line and anticipated what we would find that morning. It was always a hunt and still remains a fond memory. wish I could remember all the names of those I chatted with daily. Id sure like to see some of your early collection. as a collector from the early years I suppose you have a fine early collection. And being from that area, do you have and casting prototypes, tampo prints, any of that stuff you would have been privileged to that employees got, or that went into the trash at that time? Man there was a lot of those items floating around back then. I had some but had to sell out about 10 years ago due to a separation. Still love to hear the stories, and see those types of items when I can. See ya next time.

Back in the mid 70s I always thought the Matchbox cars were far superior they were all made of metal and had nice rubber tires and the designs either perfectly matched the real model or if it was some conceptual hot rod or turbo powered car they were all just cool as hell. Unfortunately today’s cars are relatively cheap pieces of crap. Though some larger model cars of quality I’m sure are out there but you pay through the nose for them.

Miata is a cool error

First time seeing one of your videos so I hit subscribe 👍 Always cool to go through old things that have been tucked away, especially Dad's old stuff. Being it was your dad's I was hoping we would see alot more of the older cars , but still cool no matter what. Some that I'm always looking for are the ones that were 1:87 scale, so a bit smaller, and they had real riders and came in one of those plastic show cases like the M2 Machines do. Do you have any of those? If so it would be cool to see them. Well thanks and you'll see me in the next one,lol
