A few fun facts: In Red Like Roses Part 2, Casey Lee sings Ruby’s lines and Casey Lee’s mom sings the lines from the point of view of Ruby’s mom! Also this could be remembering wrong, but I’ve heard that Lamar Hall (I think that’s his name) in I Burn didn’t know the show was supposed to be family friendly, so the swears were removed in the soundtrack release on iTunes and similar places After Monty’s death between Volumes 2 and 3, the song Wings was seen as a tribute to him Mirror Mirror Part 2 is from Volume 3, and From Shadows Part 2 is from Volume 5

Jeff Williams is the composer of nearly of note of RWBY music from the trailers through Vol 8. Casey Williams, Jeff's Daughter, is the lead singer of RWBY and has sung every opening and nearly all other songs. If there is a male/female duet it will be Jeff singing with Casey. Although they do bring in other performers occasionally like in Red Like Roses part 2 the Mother counter part to Ruby's voice was performed by Sandy Lee, Casey's mother. So, in that song, Casey sang Ruby's part while her IRL mother sang Ruby's mother part. Casey was only 13 when she started singing RWBY music and she was 14 or 15 during Volume 1. When Jeff retired from RWBY composing before Volume 9 Casey took over as the musical lead for RWBY.

to answer your question yes the singing is done by Casey Lee Williams and also her father Jeff Williams her father writes and composed every song up until now vol.9 But pretty much a father daughter created all this with a few cameos here and there for rapping parts.

The voice actress for RWBY and the vocalist for the songs are not the same person, even though that would be cool. Also Red Like Roses Part 2 is supposed to represent Ruby and her mom singing to eachother and they've done that by letting Casey Lee Williams and her actual mom duo on the song which is super cool imo and they're both hella talented. The vocalist for all these songs is Casey Lee Williams and the VA for Ruby is Lindasy Jones.

It's always funny to hear their predictions. Some are so spot on, they are correctly predicting things several seasons in advance. The rest are literally the exact opposite of what is going on 😅

A couple of things: - You should now understand why Weiss quickly changed her mind on Ruby being team leader and about Blake being a Faunus and a member of the white fang. She recognizes that she lived her life based on Other people's expectations and is ACTIVELY trying to challenge even her own views. Accepting Ruby as leader instead of trying to fight her for leadership, accepting Blake despite her own distrust and prejudice against Faunus and the white fang were conscious decisions on Weiss' part to try and grow as a person. - So to sum up: Ruby's Song "I'm sad cause I lost my Mom" .. Weiss' Song "I'm sad cause I'm lonely" .. Blake's song "I'm sad cause of Racism" .. Yang's song "I will KICK YOU ASS 6 Ways til Sunday" ... 😆 - Want to have some fun? Load up Avengers End Game, get to the Final Battle with Thanos (just before "on your left") and start playing "I may fall" .. Perfect song for that scene. The Song even has mention of Shields laying shattered. 😀

Jeff Williams and his daughter Casey Lee Williams do all of the soundtracks up to volume 9, when Casey and Martin Gonzalez take over for Jeff. Jeff did pretty much all of the instrumentals, including sick-ass guitar work, and the score for the show itself, and Casey of course sings. She was 12 when she started singing for RWBY. Fun fact about I Burn: The rap is done by Lamar Hall (he shows up quite a bit in the RWBY soundtracks), and when Jeff first enlisted him, they didn't know that Rooster Teeth didn't want the soundtrack to be explicit, since the show was fairly kid-friendly in volume 1. So they released the soundtrack with the cursing, and very quickly after the album went public RT realized what they did, freaked out and had them pull it and replace it with a clean version. I don't think the explicit version is even available to purchase or stream anymore, so we're lucky to have been able to buy the REAL version while it was out.

There are two RWBY video games! RWBY Grimm Eclipse takes place at the end of Volume 2 and is a hack and slash style game. RWBY Arrowfell takes place during volume 7 and is a platformer.

I'm pretty sure some of these ARE fighting game soundtracks, since RWBY is part of Blaz Blue Cross Tag Battle, and that game uses music from every series in it.

1:01:20 The "Twelve hours" part is also a reference to the series, to when Weiss talks to Blake at the end of Volume 1 and tells her that she has been looking for her for 12 hours. It is common for the songs to include dialogue from the series in their lyrics to reference it (usually in the second verse). Like how the second verse of From Shadows references the argument between Weiss and Blake that lead to her running away.

The soundtracks are great and they're all canon... adjacent. The writers often provide Jeff and Casey with backstory or plot elements that haven't yet been revealed to the audience to help inspire their lyrics. But they don't strictly police those lyrics. They let Jeff and Casey get creative with how they want to tackle those themes. So don't take every song lyric as Gospel, but yeah, there's totally some juicy theorizing to be done with these tracks!

i love how on every song you guys were so exited comenting stuff and overall having fun...and on the last song *focus**focus**focus*. Oh, and dont take for granted that the song is about who is on the screen. 90% of the time we all agree is rigth but i've seen some of them that not everyone agrees and they even show diferent people on diferent channels

I think the general interpretation of I May Fall is that its just the characters vs evil in general however, my personal interpretation of it is its about Ruby and Jaune rising up to become the leaders and heroes they've always dreamed of being, staring down evil until their last breath if need to be when they face their greatest challenge

I've seen this show a lot, but even still, I think I just realized something new. In the last song here, there is an emphasis on "12 hours". I think I just realized the connection there. HOLY SHIT YOU MADLADS, YOU DID IT

I take the shadows in "Wings" to be Blake's past, where she became uneasy with her actions in the White Fang and chose to leave. Now she's ashamed of the hurt she has done, but still wants to help her people and is on a journey to figure out how.

What really gets me about the RWBY soundtrack is all the callbacks and subtle references they sprinkle in to add deeper meaning to each of the songs. Like the name of Ruby's mom (as seen in the Red trailer on the grave) 'Summer Rose' is referenced in Yang's song Gold with the lyrics "Like the smell of a rose on a summer's day, I will be here to take all your fears away". Yang isn't just being 100% sweet to Ruby here, she's also vowing to be like their mother for Ruby's sake so that Ruby can smile without worries again. Which, when you then consider that Summer Rose apparently left on some mission before dying makes another line in Gold "I'll stay here. Through all things I will be near" hit even harder as Yang is specifically also promising Ruby that she won't leave like Summer Rose did. *starts bawling my head off because Yang's softer side always hits me like a truck X'D* Another great example is how the song Wings references 'From Shadows' (aka Blake's White Fang days track) with the line "Shadows... Seem to fill your life,' and then the last two episodes of RWBY volume 1 via the lines "I know you can't stand the thought of being stray... One. More. Day" (episode 15 is titled Stray btw in reference to Blake being a 'stray cat -faunus- believing she has no home') and "Twelve hours, is a long night... When you're searching with no hope in sight" (in reference to Weiss saying "Do you know how long we've been searching for you? Twelve hours!" and Yang saying "This search is hopeless earlier in the day"). All of that put together thus recontextualizes the song from being 'just' a pretty good 'general comfort/empathy' song into a track that's specifically about/to Blake from the rest of team RWBY who search desperately for her when she runs away and once they find her promising her that they'll be here for her despite the damage (aka her 'broken wings') she went through having been in and escaping from the radicalised White Fang and just. EEEEEEE I LOVE THE WAY THE MUSIC EXPANDS THE LORE LIKE THAT!

Ruby is my favorite character but wies is the one i connect with the most. Her character progression and background is very similar to me, minus the money. All of the character songs are great but weiss's are the best imo. You should definitely listen to them all together once you've watched vol 6

Glad to see yall are paying attention to the lyrics. The writers knew the overall story right from the beginning, and were sure to foreshadow ideas and events we won't see for many many more volumes. I still go back to the lyrics for music in Volume 1 and 2, and they really do set up stuff that happens much later in the series. With that said, its easy to get lost in dispair, these songs fortell terrible tragedy...but they also inspire strength in the face of insurmountable odds.

The song writer, Jeff, was in on the future plot and how they planned the tale to unfold and it's surprising how "I May Fall" fits the series as a whole. I can practically see clips in my head from throughout the series as that song plays. The OSTs are brilliant and hats off to Jeff and Casey-Lee Williams for them all.

If I recall correctly, Yang wasn't part of Monty's original vision of the show, and was more of a last minute idea to complete RWBY, hence the complete tonal shift of both the main theme, as well as the trailers with the 3 previous characters being somewhat dark, while Yang's trailer was basically a showcase of the balls-to-the-walls action the series would deliver. It also somewhat seeps into the early volumes as volume 1 really had nothing to showcase Yang's plotline to the point Jaune was more of a main character than her.

- Almost of the singing is done by Casey Williams (who was only around 14yo when volume 1 came out 😮), with her father Jeff doing most of the male singing, and occasional rapping by Lamar Hall. - For Red Like Roses pt1 I think the instrument is just an acoustic guitar. a shorter version was used in Red Trailer. the various character theme songs often show up as background instrumentals in the show. - The volume 3 intro shows a pic of Team STRQ (Summer Rose, Tai-Lang Long, Raven and Qrow Branwen) Summer is wearing a big white cloak like Ruby's. - Summer Rose was a huntress, she left on a mission and never came back (the grave is empty). - Mirror Mirror pt 1 is from the White Trailer, yes. Weiss's dad is a controlling asshole. The Schnees aren't 'royalty' but they are _seriously_ rich. Going to Beacon to become a Huntress was an attempt to escape her dad's efforts to control her life. - Again, From Shadows was heard in the Black Trailer. - Blake didn't _have_ to hide her true nature, there are several faunus at the school, but she didn't want to have to put up with the hassles. - In the Yellow trailer, we heard dance mixes of the first 3 girls songs , but also a dance mix of I Burn to finish off the Yellow trailer. This full version is far superior. 😄 And if you think back, a lot of the lyrics refer to her fight in the Yellow trailer.

As others have already pointed out, the voice actors don't sing the most (bar a few exceptions like War). But interestingly, Casey Lee steps in as Weiss' singing voice, eg in the White trailer.

so here is something about all the songs here this will be the day BANGER, but also makes sense that it's about new beginings since the girls begin thier journey as huntresses red like roses part 1&2 FUCKING HIT even more when i lost my mom mirror mirror part 1 & 2 obvious snow white refference is obvious. but part 2 is actualy from vol. 3 so i don't quite get why it was in here from shadows yeah i actualy don't have much to say about this one so i guess i clear something up, Jeff Williams made most of the soundtrack for rwby and his daughter Casey Lee Williams is doing the vocals inthe songs i burn this track is just FIRE and i love it. also, since you mentioned it, the fighting game team rwby is in is the crossover game "Blaze Blue Cross Tag Battle" wich is not just a mouthful to say, but also crosses over team rwby with characters from the blaze blue series, persona 4 arena and , Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] , as well as some others with DLC.in that game, yang has a mecanic where, if she hits low HP, she activates her semblance and this song starts playing. if you want to play this i suggest you watch season 2 first since one of the dlc characters debuts is vollume 2 Gold yeah, watching this made me realize that this song is a king midas refference. "with the touch of my hand i will turn your life to gold" i may fall so this got here because it was in the credits on one of the episodes, but is used again in an actual scene so don't be too surprised when you hear this song again. wings not much to say about this one so i'll just end this by saying that i can not wait for you to see more of rwby and hear more of this fantastic music that accompanies the story so well.

"Has any other show ever done this? It's like two separate stories." It's not quite the same, but I really want to point out a semi-obscure anime called Revue Starlight. The whole premise is that it's a theater school where characters battle to gain rankings with the number 1 student gaining any wish they want from a weirdly mysterious talking giraffe. But because it's a theater thing, every single fight scene is a musical battle with everyone involved slipping between spoken dialogue and their own insert song, sung by the voice actresses themselves, that all expand on the the story going on. And these numbers are genuinely pretty great, being able to cover a good spread of styles and tones while keeping up a really nice sense of energy and intensity. I feel like the follow-up movie makes things even better, adding in a lot of new genres to really expand out and keep things fresh. Super fun idea. Not the clearest or best told story, but I really love it and it's worth checking out. The only issue is that the platform it's hosted on, Amazon, fucking SUCKS because they don't give you the lyrics to the Japanese insert songs when they happen! So characters will just start singing, you'll have no idea what they're saying, and then you'll see someone literally sing the words with their mouths and it'll still be untranslated and undubbed because Amazon just refused to create dubs for these songs or anything. And because the show isn't super mainstream, 'less legal' sites don't keep up subbing the songs, either, which is really annoying. Keep in mind, these are really important, too, like whether or not you hear the lyrics will change your opinion on entire episodes. The only way to get into it is either to: 1. Look up EVERY song in the series after the fact, which is TERRIBLE 2. Literally download and use a site to add your own fan subs to give the songs the subtitles they're supposed to have Or, probably the best option... 3. Watch a 'less legal' upload of the first movie, "Revue Starlight: Rondo Rondo Rondo", which compresses the story down and does have all the songs subtitled. But it also makes changes and swaps out Star Divine Finale for another song. Which still kind-of sucks, because that one is genuinely sick! So yeah, if anyone's interested in really good insert songs that play over the action, that might be something to look into.

The RWBY voice actresses are not the ones singing it's mostly one girl who's father composes all the music (and occasionally sings as well). However, she is technically supposed to be Weiss's singing voice. During Weiss's trailer and in an episode much later on when she sings, it's the girl who does the vast majority of the songs who's voice we hear, not Weiss's voice actress.

Sorry if this is a lot of information, no offence taken if you decide not to read it all. Casey Lee Williams is the main female vocalist for the soundtrack and I think around the time of volume one she was maybe 13 or 14… Something like that… It’s pretty crazy how much variety she puts out... In Red Like Roses part 2, her mother sings the second part… The next female guest vocal doesn’t show up until the end song for volume 6. Until volume 7, Jeff Williams, the guy who writes pretty much all of the songs, is all the male vocals, except for the raps. The raps typically show up once a volume and are performed by Lamar Hall (possibly spelt wrong). There are a bunch of guest vocalists in volume 7… For volume 9 I think Casey and possibly her band have taken over doing the songs… I haven’t gotten around to seeing it or listening to the soundtrack yet, so I’m not totally sure. BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is the fighting game that team RWBY (plus an upcoming villain) guest in… They might all be DLC, but I’m not totally sure… I think a bunch of the songs from up to volume 4 or 5 are in the game… If I remember correctly, Yang has a special move to switch her to like her powered up mode, which then also triggers “I Burn” to play lol… This annoys some people >_

Yang really is great. If nothing else, I feel like they nailed the idea of her being the group powerhouse, Ruby is the best at fighting Grimm but Yang just EXCELLS at fighting everything else and she's surprisingly consistent about it.

The only problem is that the show itself isn't nearly as interesting as any of these songs imply it is, lol! It's like you're hearing all these lyrics about death and tragedy and about how everyone has to fight against themselves to overcome this approaching evil. "We are going to fight the darkness and WE ARE GOING TO WIN!!!" And then you watch the show itself and it's like "Come on, guys! We need to help Jaun overcome his bullying problem and stand up for himself!"
