This was a tribute song. Their producer The God Teddy Park was very instrumental in bringing Hip-Hop to South Korea in the 90's. Probably my favorite and most overlooked reference in this song is the "Stylin on em" part. It's from a pretty obscure battle rap video that went viral maybe ten years ago. Then Jennie hits us with a reference to Biggie's famous line "kick in the door, wavin the 44"(Jennie says Coco). Next Lisa references Rhianna's "Pon de Replay" with "One by one and two by two" and also 50 Cent's P.I.M.P. with "you can't get a dollar outta me". Rosé and Jisoo both reference Taylor Swift with "look what you made us do" also "I bring the pain like" is a reference to Method Man's "Bring the Pain".
