@@Gary4DLC lol, me too! super super awesome singing for sure! i've watched a ton of these review vids and everyone is so amazed with his voice and vocal range (myself included). even after seeing/hearing this song a bazillion times, i still get chills and goosebumps on those high and gritty notes!
I may be flamed here, and I love the original Simon and Garfunkel song but... IMHO, this one is BETTER than the original... it brings me emotions that the original couldn't... Great reaction!
No flames here, you are absolutely correct. Disturbed has a done a great job finding songs that are in need of some righteous anger and adding it. They did it with Land of Confusion and perfected it here.
I have heard this song hundreds of times and I never tire of hearing him sing it. He takes you on a journey with spiritual undertones. Amazing. It often makes me cry. I loved your reaction. I cried when you cried. Thank you for the honest reaction.
This, for me, is the best cover ever done of this song. The original seemed like a warning, this one seems like" LOOKS WHAT YOU MANIACS HAVE DONE!?!" And David brings suck gravitas to an, already, beautiful song!
When you say will never get tired of it that is very true. In the past six months I have probably listen to it 600 times And there is no exaggeration and I still am not tired of it. Divorced the music everything is perfect for this song and I’ve never heard a better voice
You feel a bit of being scolded when David starts singing with the rasp, about creating another God to worship. David killed it with this Cover, absolutely masterful!
I understand you. I also cried the first time I heard this song. You feel it in your ears, then in your heart and at the climax it touches your soul. ✨❤️
"I don't know how to explain" ... That's because you were expecting to just listen to a song. You weren't expecting a visceral experience that touches so deeply. You don't just hear this, you feel it.
Someone said, "the original was meant as a warning, while this one is meant as a judgement." Some fifty (50) years after this was written it feels relevant and timely. With our political chasm and our false gods (like internet sensations, reality show stars or political leaders etc.) It seems we all make our own Gods these days. And just look at how prophetic the line, we talk without speaking, (it's the very definition of texting.) Hell, we are all so busy coming up with a counter argument to someone else's view, we truly do hear without listening. And because we don't listen it's like a cancer growing. Powerful lyrics and an incredible retelling which touches us all across age, race and creed. Which in today's world is truly epic!
This is how to react to a video! No interruptions! No pauses! I feel like it allows all the beauty and emotion to build, unimpeded by all the stops, and talking… Bravo! Beautiful reaction! 🦋Lily🦋
The end of this song is an absolutely phenomenal piece of of work! going from the gruff of tenement, and softening the halls, part, is just an orgasm for my ears.
Seeing you moved to tears touched me deeply. I am moved every time I hear this song and I love to witness other people experiencing this performance for the first time. It is a deeply moving experience. It stirs something in us that can only be described as touching the devine. Thank you for sharing your reaction with us. ❤
It's ok.. I get choked up and I've listened to this song at least 100 times. His ability to make you feel the message is unsurpassed. Such a talent....!!
Your Soul was touched........ Its a very strong Warning from God in that song to ALL OF US.........David's heart brings emotion to every word.....Beautiful...
"I feel closer to the divine" That is because David Draiman's voice is both angelic and demonic at the same time. It is not something humans can easily comprehend.
My little lady ❤️ Growing up listening to the original version as a young man and now having more days behind me then ahead of me I can say with absolutely know problem that this cover is what this beautiful song was intended to sound like❤️ I thank you for sharing your little journey with me❤️🌎❤️
David Draiman....one of the best male vocalists ever! ....imho. Can go from clear and sweet to powerful and rasp and back! ...he has always amazed me with his talent!
The first time and multiple times after I was overcome with emotion because of this song. I’m not really super emotional of a guy and this song just triggered something.
Good on you - out of all the reaction videos of this performance I've seen, yours is the only one to pay proper respect and actually listen to the song and not interrupt repeatedly with a bunch of self-absorbed blather. This is an exceptional performance and deserves to be heard first of all, and you did that. 👍
I'm a 57 year old guy and I cry every time I hear this. When he hits that last Sounnnnnnnd ( which he sustains for 5.11 seconds) it really hits me hard and I'm glad as I know I'm not heartless.
Great, honest reaction ❤️ You listen to Simon and Garfunkel You feel David Draiman I was also moved to tears by this performance, not only the first time hearing it, but EVERY time! You're right, this is something you will never tire of. ❤️🙏
I've heard thins version like...a thousand times. I grew up with music, both my father and my mother....and my sister sang in Choirs and played a lot of instruments. It was Carl Orff and Grieg and...but this is just wonderfull!!!! :)
He was classically trained in his younger years... There is one auto-tune part which he was pissed about when the Conan show added that to his song.... And he was sick with the flu when he sang that on Conan... So just imagine what his voice would be like when he wasn't sick. Paul Simon actually said it is now David's song as it had been reborn, and congratulated him on it
She said,"...it makes you feel closer to the divine, somehow..."... and "...this is the type of song that we're going to hear again and again and again and never get used to it..." I think I've listened to 8 or 9 "vocal coaches" critique this song and I never tire of watching their reactions.
Steph, as always a gorgeous reaction from an extremely gorgeous young lady in waiting. This was written by Simon&Garfunkle when they were just launching their careers and when they were still idealistic. I see it as their take on the state of affairs of the world in the sixties, including the music industry turning into something, not at all like they had imagined it to be. This was their attempt at reaching out to a corrupt world getting worse by the decade and an attempt by their perceived Creator of calling us to attention of that evil, and our silence to the atrocities surrounding us, and an acceptance of darkness, as an old friend, basically saying that he'd won! And now looking back and coming forward to the here and now, with all the fraud, media misinformation, the dumbing down of our school children and young adults, the utter and contemptable way in which our government ignores our rights while allowing wrong doers to run amok. There's no telling as to how much their age old warning simply has fallen on deaf ears!
I feel you on this one! I've listened to this song many times and it still brings a tear. It is one of the most emotional songs I've ever heard.. This version.
performance was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! his voice is both beautiful and haunting...................the bass drum pounding out those double strikes shakes the body and the piano is haunting and the orchestra is perfect background for the whole song.....................and you are adorable
Well said. Great reaction one of the best I’ve heard so far and I’ve seen more of them. You’re right I never get sick of this. I listen to it multiple times a day. It just doesn’t get better than this.
One of the few reactions to this song that I will watch multiple times. You get it, I get it, and so do a whole lot of people. This version is timeless and will be seen for a very long time. At the end of the song you kept it real and I love it.
I am not a connoisseur of music like you, I have seen other music critics and the truth is that the reactions to this voice have been more than great. I think that from time to time a voice as prodigious as this appears and impacts us all whatever type of music you listen to. It's really cool I don't know what to say...
Beautiful reaction, Steph. I loved when you said at the end of the video, "Guys, Guys, Guys, what was that". That was awesome. Beautiful reaction. I loved it. :)
I've been singing their songs since I was 12, but I had voice training in high school. I'am 35 now and still can match him 😘. You are absolutely beautiful 😘😍❤.
Thank you very much for making this video. I think that is exactly right, how can humans make things like this? I feel that connection too when I witness something like this. That's why I love to watch the reactions of people being moved. Yours was very beautiful. Take care.
This is the most honest and real reaction of the hundreds of reactions I have watched > I have listened to David Draiman's version thousands of times and love it more and more with each listen.
Hallo Namensvetterin -). Eine unglaubliche Version des Songs.Toll.Gruss aus Germany. Hello namesake -). An unbelievable version of the song.Toll.Gruss from Germany.❤️👍🙋♂️
Great reaction and you are spot on. The beauty of this song is that it touches each person in a different way. The connection, when made, is deep! Soul deep... This song has a very special place in my heart because, the very first time it played on the radio in 2015, I was on the way to see my mom in the hospital. We had just been told she had 3 to 6 months to live... Even now, tonight, watching, listening and feeling this song, it brought tears to my eyes once again...
There is some autotune put in there by the Conan people, and let's just say David D was not happy about it. Check out the studio version video. Lot's of symbolism there. The song is only slightly different. Still powerful. I had the same reaction you did.
David Draiman is the singer, he is classically trained, he had the flu during that performance, if you look closely you will see him frown, he realized the producers were trying to use auto tune, but they were stopped!
You are as emotional as I was. You are a very sweet, feeling person. I've heard this hundreds of times and can never get tired of it. reading the comments reassures me I'm not crazy. This singer said he had a conversation with Paul Simon who liked his version. That's always nice to know.
I love what you said about "being closer to the divine" when listening to this. I agree and I'm not particularly religious, but this performance is absolutely a religious experience! It is an amazing performance and David's vocals are truly a gift from God that I think he shared best when he sang this song.
You are so right when you say that he sings with an emotion you feel. There are so few artists that can do that. They can mainly do it live when the crowd gets behind them but he can do it from a video. Very rare.
Steph, I just wanted to make a few comments. Firstly, your reaction to this amazing performance was so touching. It was pretty much the same for millions of others on hearing this version for the first time. Secondly (and sadly) this is NOT typical of the kind of music which Disturbed usually do, they are a heavy metal rock band, but clearly, they are al fantastic musicians. If you check out the official video of this song, you'll see it has attracted over 600 MILLION views, but this one was live and was perfect. David Draiman's voice is like no other. He comes from an orthodox Jewish family and was classically trained as a cantor. I also loved the fact that you gave the song a chance, and didn't keep stopping the video like so many other reactors do, as it ruins all the enjoyment for us watching. Thanks again Steph. Be well and keep safe.
He does all the arrangements and all the setting up of the stages he is amazing Disturbed and Myles Kennedy did The sound of silence in Houston Texas live it's a must see
So many more bands to go, great reaction, you should listen to shinade o connor when she did it the day after her mum died. Brings this old man tears everytime.
