Tina Turners ,Simply the best was the Song for Rugby League in Australia. She sung live at the Grand Final and she went down a treat.Amazing woman with an amazing voice. Onya Jimmy .
Jimmy and Tina, a match made in heaven. So great together and the charisma between them is sensational. Let's not forget Diesel on the guitar, who also happens to be Jimmy's brother in law, an amazing talent in his own right.
Your comment you didn't know much about Tina Tuner sums up the American music industries motto, " if you can't control them, don't want to know them". Tina was huge in Australia and Europe.
Tina released this song in late 80’s and then this collab came about in the early 90’s as the theme song for the NRL. Beamed through Aussie tv’s over an NRL highlight reel. Here we are in 2023 and it’s still the song I relate to the game. I see a footy ad, I think of this song. I hear this song and I picture the footy.
In Australia 1985 Tina stared in George Miller's 'Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome' Tina Turner's played ruthless villain Aunty Entity "We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)" is a 1985 song by Tina Turner. It was featured in the 1985 film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. In 1992, Turner recorded "(Simply) The Best", a duet version of the song with Australian rock singer Jimmy Barnes, to promote that year's New South Wales Rugby League season in Australia. Peace out.
Tina had a lot of connections with Australia. When her career was in the doldrums it was resurrected by 2 Aussie songwriters who wrote "What's Love Got To Do With It". She didn't like it and didn't want to record it. After a while they finally convinced her to do it and the rest is history. She also starred in the Australian film 'Mad Max Thunderdome" with Mel Gibson. Mad Max was titled 'Road Warrior" in the US. Of course she also did concerts in Australia.
The US never gave Tina the love she deserved - maybe the fault of Ike who was a violent creep or that crazy producer Phil Spector, both capable of shutting her out. River Deep Mountain High 1966 was big here and Europe but not so much in US. 10 years later Tina was The Gypsy, The Acid Queen in the British movie Tommy by The Who. You’ll find a clip of Tina here on RU-vid, check it out, it’s a hoot. I still remember how I felt seeing that for the first time at the cinema. Anyway another 10 years on she was pretty big outside the US and this song with Jimmy would have been recorded when she was here to shoot the Mad Max movie she was in. There was a hit song from that too. I think it was called We don’t need another hero.
They sound so great together. Jimmy was apparently soo nervous doing this with Tina, but said Tina was lovely to work with. Also did U notice Diesel on guitar?
Tina had another huge hit here in Australia with "What's Love Got To Do With It" And you are spot on with your comments regards Tina and Jimmy having similar voices....I agree they absolutely do. Pity they didn't do other duets....Saying hi from Sydney, Australia. Hope you are well.
Jimmy is like the male Tina, vocally. They blend so well together that it is almost scary, lol. And he was so nervous to sing with her. Tina has phenomenal music. They sound so great.
Nut Bush City Limits Tina's biggest hit She's awesome . Jimmy & John 2 of the greatest of all time but could not crack the world stage go figure but INXS did , I think their manager new how to go about it .
You need to check out more Jimmy; either alone or with the band Cold Chisel. He is an Australian icon. Good way to check out 2 Aussie gods is listening to/watching the live video (from Hey, Hey it's Saturday) of Jimmy and John Farnham doing " When Something is wrong with my Baby".
They where the anthem for NRL rugby league for ages ''NSWRL Simply The Best Australian Ad 1990''ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z-P0085ii4Q.html but 1989 Tina Turner Rugby League promo was better ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tXIzp0ok24I.html love these adds. Rugby League promotion brought them together I'm a league fan as well as Tina & cold chisel & johnny diesel on guitar.
@@CVTECK1 love your reviews though - keep up the great work. Always best when reviewers stop and take the time to comment during the video rather than barely reacting. Great stuff!
