"What happen to the feels?" Gen-X asks themselves that every single day. Im so glad you're hearing the good stuff, girl! Love the tongue out 😂 Michael will do that to ya.
Mike Mcdonald was a lengend before his solo career with the Dobbie Brothers. A bunch of white sould funky brother, laying down some impressive grooves and smooth vocals. I think Mike is in "We are the World" song, he get a solo section for himself. He was fire.
Michael McDonald is a legend. When he produces something, it's quality from voice to vocals. This is the fine old school such as Stevie Wonder, Michel McDonald, Ivan Lins, Al Jarreau these are phenomenal musicians ❤
I’ve been saying that for a while. When I was a growing up in the 70’s and 80s people seemed to have more passion and heart. I don’t know what happened to the world
We just don’t express our emotions because women end up calling us weak or feminine and then when we’re strong and manly, they call it toxic masculinity. Us guys can’t win either way.
I grew up in the 70's and had a MASSIVE crush on Michael McDonald so much that in 1991 I got married to a man that looked identical to him AND his name was actually Michael .
Aside from the great singer Michael McDonald, this tune is ALL ABOUT THE TITLE LYRIC...How many of us have awakened after a restless night's sleep, and it hits you square between your eyes and ears and you say.."Oh, that's right, I keep forgettin' we're not in love any more"...."Things will never be the same again"....and your heart begins to ache. Your soul feels empty, and you feel lost, and oh, so all alone. You got dumped, yet, you are still so much in love. I cry every time I hear this tune.
Isn’t Michael McDonald amazing. I’ve loved him so much for so long. Your reaction is priceless. Several years ago, he moved to Nashville or near Nashville. Now, he’s close. Thanks so much.
@@clemsonbloke yes that was acknowledged, hence why the OP said "the classic Sample" - no one is discounting the song not being Michael McDonald's - if you want to go back further you can look at Chuck Jackson too
Songs from my youth. Back when people sang for real and musicians actually played. No fake crap, just pure talent. We didn't care the color, just the talent. This man wrote most of what he sang too.
Ashley- Warren G and Nate Dogg sampled this for their hit, “ Regulate”. 😊 You would love his Civil Rights anthem- Takin It to the Streets! Live or studio. There are lots of performance vids of him with the Doobies.
The best reaction I've seen to one of my all-time favorite songs. "Mike is in LOVE!". And that instant stank face when it started up. haha go girl! subbed
To answer your question at 4:11. This is what the fellas were like before gangsta rap came on the scene. Being a youngster in the 70s and 80s, I remember how motivated grown men were by a women.
I use to listen to him long before the rap song came out of this track. 70s and 80s. That's right. I love playing this on the piano alone in a quiet room. Listen to him and Patty labelle.
The boys today haven't got the guts to let it all hang out. It's sad seeing everyone walk around with a big fat filter floating in front of them. Love the reaction sweetheart. Cheers.
Warren G used this music track for "Regulate". Here's the story of the Regulators. The Lincoln County War was an Old West conflict between rival factions which began in 1878 in Lincoln County, New Mexico Territory, the predecessor of the state of New Mexico, and continued until 1881. The Lincoln County Regulators, or just the Regulators, were an American Old West deputized posse that fought in the Lincoln County War in New Mexico, during the late 19th century. They are well known for including Billy the Kid as a member. They were formed by small ranch owners and cowboys in Lincoln County, New Mexico, and their goal was to "regulate" any stealing of property from their ranches. The main group of men in the Regulators were known as the “iron clad” and they were: Richard "Dick" Brewer, Frank McNab, Doc Scurlock, Jim French, John Middleton, George Coe, Frank Coe, Jose Chavez y Chavez, Charlie Bowdre, Tom O'Folliard, Fred Waite, Henry Newton Brown, and the bandit of all bandit's; Billy the Kid.
These were different times Ashley, and people cared a lot more back then both men and women... sad to say it but we are living in cold times. Great song and singer, loved your reaction...thanks.
I love the contrast you alluded to between the baby boomers/Gen X and subsequent alphabet generations. How astute, entertaining and real was that? Great reaction. I'm in!
Born in the early 80s, but the songs I heard in that decade including those vibes from the 70's were super special. I've heard it said cocaine was quite thedrug
I was born in 1973. The men, back in the day, actually pursued women and were gentlemen about it. It was a very beautiful thing. For the most part, men loved and respected women back then in a way that I have not seen these days, in a lonnng time. Pretty sad. I miss those days.
Back then most woman still had the respect for themselves. Woman knew what a true man was and expected that respect as they saw their father respect their mother.
Regulators - Mount Up! - Warren G and Nate Dog. they took the whole song and just put hip hop over it. the early 90's rappers knew how to sample the good stuff and put just as much fire over the music.
D' lux Line up Iconic song! MMD still rockin' in XXI century. You' right Ashely: it is women who have lost their essence to limit their men's ability to compose, poetize and feel. Fortunately, there are many who, like you, are still capable of moving us. Send you so many kisses from the Perú 😊
Unfortunately times have changed. All the old rock songs usually were about love or heartbreak. That's when love was cool. Those days are long gone. But at the end of the video, notice a different woman approaches him, and he gives that wicked little smile saying...ok, let's move on now.
Ooh! have you reacted to the police's wrapped around your finger. The video and the live version are. The drummer doesn't have a drum kit he actually has a drum cubicle. Only slightly less elaborate than the great late Neil Peart😂😂😂 Also a song called something in the water by Prince. It's one of my 77 favorite Prince songs.
I had to stop at 4:18 because you hit the nail on the freaking head! I've been single for years- by choice -because these men ain't the same anymore. It seems men used to respect and cherish women more, which makes zero sense. You'd think with our (women) evolvment, that we'd be respected more now. But... chivalry is apparently dead. I'm loving your vibe and reactions. And I'm on my deck in my Bougie robe with a cup of coffee enjoying this! 🤣🧘♀️ It's giving me peace and giggles. Michael is pure soul for sure and I've not heard this song in years. I was a youngster when it came out but remember my mama dancing to it in the kitchen while cooking.
Funny how they have no accountability. Their thought process: Hey ladies remember when men worshipped us..and all our foolishness...those were the days lol
I love your reactions ❤️ But I noticed you have not done any rock reactions I was a rock guitarist for 40 yrs. Would love to see you react to some of the biggest band in history with over 400 million albums sold " Led Zeppelin. Song "Whole Lotta Love" I'm sure will love it.. also if you like this song check out Hall n oats "Sara's smile" smooth
I think that the lyrics are more ambiguous. He's talking about a woman who says that they aren't a thing anymore, but then they are still in touch with each other and she's being affectionate towards him. He's saying "oh, so that's how it is? You still want me? I forgot - I thought that weren't in love anymore." He's saying it more sarcastically.
I think he grew up in Memphis Another song he did Takin it to the streets n someguy played it in church now Im anointed of the Holy Spirit but it stirred up my so much and I know he played w the doobie brothers I thought he was a black man or something That song is anointed if you ave an anointing that song will draw the anointing out of you. I know there are spiritual anomolies out there but he has got some kind of gift and actually hes a very humble guy there isd another song called walking in memphis n really it could be a worship song
Honestly what happened is that the vast majority of western Women in the last couple generations don’t deserve songs like this anymore. It’s a cold hard fact but true. #PassportBros
