You have to watch Dungeon Meshi god tier world building, characters design, amazing plot. It might look like funny comedy but it's getting darker later. Foreshadowing and writing of this anime is also amazing Also my favourite openings this season: 1. Dungeon Meshi Op 2 2. Kaii to Otome to Kamigakushi 3. Sentai Daishikkaku

I'd argue Girls band cry and Jellyfish cant swim in the night are some of the best shows that have come out in a long while. Highly recommend you watch both

MUSHOKU TENSEI #1 LETS GO!! Easily my favorite of the season with honorable mentions such as Girls Band Cry, Kaiju No.8, and Demon Slayer. Gotta give GBC props for how well the anime is for it being all CG, its honestly amazing how good the expressions are on the characters and how smooth the movements are as well.

CG is not inherently bad, it's just that only few people in the industry know how to use it correctly, and not for saving money. For saving money GBC animators actually use 2D 👀

Fun fact: Girls Band Cry opening is played by VA of their respective characters (yeah, all the instruments) and it's their first ever roles. Singer Rina is 16 years old. They made full album that is awesome and worth checking.

I've been watching Sand Land with my friends this season, not only because it's good, but because this is the last show that Akira Toriyama (yes, the creator of Dragon Ball) made... as in, he was directly involved in the production of it, before his passing. I was never a huge expert on Akira Toriyama's work... not like one of my friends, who has followed just about everything he's ever done. but I have such a deep respect for his aesthetic sense and cultural impact. and the OP for Sand Land is absolutely amazing. I wasn't prepared for how emotional I actually got watching it... it's such a good hearted show. I hope it is loved by many people.

With Monogatari returning next month we will be getting new opening and endings ( Yoasobi doing the ending) for it, so you really need to finish reacting to the openings and endings you didn’t finish in preparation if you do react to the new opening and endings. Monogatari is truly the most unique anime series for me (if not counting JoJo), from the storytelling to the personalities of each character, I can confirm that each of them has their really good and attractive backstories.

9:59 if you want to hear more from Syudou you can do a full reactions to that song "Reversal", and the other Tsukumichi openings "Gambling and "Utopia", he also did the 5th Chainsaw man opening "In the backroom", and composed Ado's Ussewa he also did a self cover of that song. 14:15 you haven't and smart not watching the new Demon slayer opening as it does have some spoilers, the ending doesn't have any though but at this point you could just check full version instead. 15:03 yeah it is and song is by Tatsuya Kitani, he also did Jujutsu Kaisen opening 3 "Ao no sumika" / "Where our blue is", "Scar" opening 1 for Bleach thousand year blood war and the "Rapport" episode 1 special ending. 18:32 you're not the only one I also rank based on the song I only really rank based on animation and the whether it fits the anime or not if there are two songs I like about equal.

Date a live is great, dating simulator with spirits that can wipe out cities with their powers. The MC has to kiss each one of them to seal their powers, there is a lot of cheekiness, but also plenty of mystery and drama. The most recent season had some huge revelations.

Girl's Band Cry is honestly the best opening of the season. Unfortunately the show itself isn't available anywhere legally so very few are watching it. I'm honestly surprised and happy to see it as high as it is here.

1:57 Date a LIve season 5 is crazy in terms of story development, this show starts as a fun supernatural/science-fiction harem anime, and the more it goes, the more the story "sucks you in" like you always says Luke.

The reason Sand Land looks like Dragon Ball related is because it was one of the last works of Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball/Z/Super, before he passed away at the beginning of March this year.

18:38 Luke, I also put a lot of weight on the song for anime openings, the visuals and story will be the plus points. Here's a suggestion... perhaps a more fair evaluation could be reached if we divide the openings into 3 types of appreciation. 1. Just listen to the opening song without the visual/animation (evaluate the song) 2. Just watch the opening without the song (sound on mute) (evaluate the visuals/animation) 3. Watch the opening with song and visual/animation combined (evaluate how well the song and visuals/animation complement each other)

Personally my favorite female character is Hisui, the green JFC in the school uniform (she says she’s a high schooler but they never give her age and the amount of years that have passed since she was young make it seem like she’d be at least early 20s so..I assume she’s just saying she’s a high schooler but isn’t.) Hisui is great. However I can definitely see why you want Suzukiri to do that. She gives off Makima vibes.

10:49 The opening, the ending and all the performance by the anime characters are played by the group Togenashi Togeari, a group formed for the anime, and all the girls of the band in the anime are voiced by the Togenashi Togeari musicians. So the singer is the VA for the character of the singer, the drummer is the VA for the character of the drummer, the guitarist is the VA for the character of the guitarist, etc. They are beginners in term of voice acting, so it feels more like real people, but the voice actor performance doesn't suffer from it.

6:10 YES! Spare me great lord. Both the openings look stunning and the songs are a vibe, the first endings animation is crazy too (second ending is more chill). That anime (or donghua, cause it's chinese) feels like all the budget went to the openings and endings, and maybe the fights in the last episodes of both seasons, but the shows overall look is just ...meh... I also think Shoukei shoujo no virgin road and Umineko no naku koro ni were like that. All money went to the opening and ending.

The mushoku tensei opening is probably #1 because it feels like the openings are in some way also evloving with the MC. (This probably just me riding on Mushuko) I've read the original web novel and reading the LN. The Web Novel had a really good pacing. you really felt the growth of Rudeus. To me, the openings for Mushuko Tensei also feel like the growth i felt when i 1st read the web novel.

Kaiju No.8 opening is right up there for my #1 of the year. The sci fi/horror 80s retro style animation and the excellent yungblud song with the perfect and catchy lyrics for the anime....it just hit me the right way. First time i saw it i got these really strong nostalgia feels for movies like The Thing and They Live...strongest reaction i've had to an opening in a while.

God I really would want you to check Blue Archive's opening and ending. The opening even has hidden frames that do spoil a bit the depths of the plot, but even if you don't know how it goes, you'll enjoy it without actually spoiling yourself since said frames don't get to tell "what/how" happens. And the ending, I think you'll love it a bit too much. It hits deep in the feelings

dungeon meshi is kinda one of those "lighthearted anime", although everything about it is mastered, the characters, the storytelling and especially world building, highly recommend to check it out

Best ending song of the season is "blan_" by Arika from Unnamed Memory. The ending for KonoSuba is also a lot of fun. The song is performed by the voice actresses, while the visuals tell a hilarious story that plays like an episode of the show.

I LOVE people saying there's spoilers in an opening. I don't care about spoilers, so I've watched a breakdown of MT's opening from the perspective of a light novel reader, and everything pointed out is either a 'blink and you'll miss it hint,or something that doesn't make sense to someone who doesn't know the story. There was one element brought up that doesn't have any significance until the episode it hints at, and without the context of the episode, you might miss it completely There's another element that the anime is only beginning to hint at. Essentially, unless you're looking for spoilers (in and outside the opening), you're probably not going to find any. 'It spoiled that x married y' .. unless you want no information, even about the main characters, you're not going to be badly spoiled

All openings and full OST for all 5 seasons of Date a Live are made by one person Gou Sakabe, It is kinda rare for anime in general so it is one of a sellpoints of the series

There's a couple of anime openings where either the music or the animation itself is divorced from the finished product. Off the top of my head right now Rise - Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex (Way more CG than in the show), not a negative effect though. Magical Destroyer - Magical Destroyers (This one's tone is a step depature for what the show is) not negative but emphasis is more on the style than the substance. Kogarashi Sentiment - Monogatari Second Season opening 6 (sometimes called 4) This one is just a nostalgia piece/pastiche more than having anything substantive to do animation wise with what's going on in the show itself. Still a solid opening though.

Recommendation: Girl's Last Tour OP and ED, especially the special ED Song of Raindrops. This show is criminally underwatched, but the vast majority of people who have watched/read the manga will sing its praises.

The first thing that comes to mind are the Pop Team Epic fake openings: Twinkling Star (idol anime), Last Sparkle (mecha opening), Pretty Candle Star (more idol anime, female version and joke male version), Endless Love (live action tokusatsu). May as well watch the real openings too: POP TEAM EPIC and PSYCHO:LOGY.

Luke you should 100% watch Date a live. It's a really good anime imo. Not quite as 'fun and chill' tho. It has a lot of action but there's also a lot of downtime in between. There's a bit of fanservice at the start, which throws people off, but the story is great. I've read all the LN volumes and can definitely vouch for that. Btw if you want something nice and fun, try "Chilling in another world with level 2 cheat powers." Contrary to its name, its a quite a good anime. While it is an isekai it focuses mostly on the MC and the female lead's relationship

6:10 A condition called love is one of the strangest, weirdest romance anime ive ever watched, with a creepy main guy. I definitely think it's one of those shows where the OP and ED are BANGERS, but the anime itself is.....eehhh (not so much as the animation as it is the story and pacing issues, in my opinion). By the way, since lots of people are recommending Soul Land, have you ever thought about checking out some chinese anime? Like Link click, Mo Dao zu shi, Heaven Official's blessing. These 3 have been amongst the most popular ones, especially with Mo Dao Zu Shi 3 coming out recently. Amazing music and animation.

About this list, I could reccomend listening to all Date A Live Ops and Eds, a classic franchise that started cheeky and turned surprisingly serious. About songs you forgot to react, I would recommend Ragna Crimson yet again. Banger songs from the previous 2 seasons (Winter and Autumn). Another recommendation I have is Juuni Taisen, just 2 songs, pretty cool style and songs, I particularly like the ending! Love the reactions!

Blue Archive the Animation opening is very good. I'd say it's one of the best (the opening) this season. Both the animation and the song. And it's sung by their VA. I'd love to see you react to the full anime opening version of it.

The animation style for the opening of Kaiju No.8 is quite a bit different from the animation style of the anime. The anime has a much more traditionally exaggerated anime style.
