I am from Poland, and I can confirm that film called: The unconquered was all true. This video is based on real facts. And because I am Polish and because our grandparents remember these horrible events, some countries are trying to erase these bad events that have marked themselves on the page of Polish History, we will never forget what the Germans did to us. It is true that 70 years have passed since that event, but now we are with Germany "the best neighbors".
How life plays. My family was completely German during the war. My father my uncles all in the armed forces. Januz Belza, a survivor of the uprising, married my mother's cousin after the war. My brother pastor of the Bundeswehr accompanied Uncle Januz several times in Warsaw at the celebrations. I myself have been married to a Polish woman for 4 years. That's what I call international understanding.
„Because we do not beg for freedom, we fight for it”- words of my grand grand uncle’s best friend- Urbanowicz. My uncle was Zdzisław Krasnodębski, founder and first commander of 303 squadron in Battle of Britain. Btw, UK told him and his boys to leave a country in 3 days. My uncle died in Toronto where he was working as a cab driver. His and his wife’s, Wanda, ashes were moved to Powązki Cementary few years ago.
Interesting fact: We have never signed the capitulations. The Nazis attacked Poland in 1st September 1939 without declare war to us. We never give up as a country and as a people. That's in our blood, we're stubborn. These are things that make me proud of being Pole.
They started to crush the German resistance as soon as they got their hands on some equipment. Poland was only 20 years in the making after over 120 years of occupation when the WW2 started, the Polish never had a chance. But when they were put on the equal ground, they gave them hell. @@sandraanasiewicz1932 that is incorrect - because Poles often fought on the side of some other country not due to hatred for someone but due to love for their country (like Napoleonic wars for example) in WWII case, yes, the hatred was strong due to the way the Germans fought and their acts against civilian population - that's why Poles were hailed as best pilotes with highest rate of 'kills' in Battle of Britain, the reason being brit' pilots were looking to "shot down enemy planes" while Poles and representatives of other countries that suffered under German occupation were looking to "kill off the Germans" - the slight difference in mentality is indeed great stimulus and increase in concentration and skills (what else helped is they were previously trained on older planes models under much worse conditions and had actual battle experience in contrast to the brit' pilots) so, when German soldier met a Polish one - he had much lower chances of survival than if he met other allied soldiers (there was no mercy) - thus Black Devils

Everything in this video is true at a glance. My great-grandmother was sent to a concentration camp together with my grandmother because she helped Jews. The big players want no one to hear about Poland, and ideally it should not exist at all, it has been like that for hundreds of years. Bravery for our homeland is in our blood. As a Pole I can tell you that polish history lessons are more frihtening than a lot of horror movies. I also think that every country teaches history only from their side of the view, with some major western countries history too. So there is probably a lot of things we all don't know about many countries that we should be aware of, but Poland is realy the most ignored one, as we were the most important power in WWII after US, USSR, UK and France.
World's ignorance about Poland's history during the WW2 breaks my heart. I saw even articles saying that Poles are nazis... apparently those people that think that don't even know that Germans wanted to erase literally everything that was polish from this world: Poles, polish language, Poland as a whole. You dont know this because history was written by allies. We were pushed by allies to soviet russia as a part of agreement. And it was unpleasant truth for allies.
One thing you need to know about us Poles is that when war started thousands of our country men came back to join Polish free army to fight for our country from all over the world. We love our lives outside of Poland but when push comes to defend our homeland we don't hesitate to put our free lives online for our homeland.

Polish "government" was trying to erase our history until the late 80s when we were finally free from the communists. Only now we are actually able to spread the word about what Poland actually did during the war. A big part of my family was part of the resistance and I am so proud of them (especially my dad and grandfather). I hope more people will learn the truth because our history is amazing. I heard that France was proud when they gave up and weren't destroyed, meanwhile Poland had the entire capital turned into ashes but never stopped fighting. If you were a German soldier and they sent you to Poland - you were screwed, because our entire country was literally a battlefield. The resistance was everywhere - Germans were so scared they had to cut trees in forests to make it more difficult for our resistance to attack. Except they had tanks, lots of weapons, and we only had guns (mostly stolen from them anyway). Later the communists tried to conceal our history, a lot of history books were communists' propaganda and it was pretty much a bunch of BS. My dad got kicked out of school for arguing with his history teacher and the communists tried to arrest him, but he escaped to a different town. Later, my family was producing the illegal papers and pamphlets to talk about the real politics and history. And it was all during the 80s. (My bedroom is now where it all used to be printed, lol) So, considering how our history was concealed until literally maybe 30 years ago, no wonder other countries don't learn about how much we have done. Germany and Russia are still trying to destroy us on the political field, even to this day. Today's politics is pretty much direct continuation of the war for Poland. I feel like this fight never actually ended for us, it just changed its form, and we still have to fight (even if a lot of people think we now live in peaceful times - we actually don't). But maybe as times continue to change it will finally be easier to teach foreigners about our history and all the amazing things Polish people achieved. The reason why memories of the war are still alive is because some of our grandparents are still alive, tell us about. Most of this happened on our land, and we saved ourselves without much help from the outside world

@@luciakoz2493 resistance is like one organization working on one goal - as example sabotage and espionage the country - it was whole governmental and military organization that went into underground and worked in whole country. It had the military and civilian branches. It even had the jury and cultural systems. The whole education went underground - like close to 2k high schools, universities (they had around 10k graduates during war). The cultural aspect like theaters, concerts, poetic evenings etc. - everything hidden.

Here is the fact. Poland was THE ONLY occupied country where saving Jews meant death penalty. And yet Poland was also the country where the most Jews were saved. Don't try to scare us the Poles with death. It doesn't work. We are not afraid. Also I wish they made a game about The Underground State. Like maybe another part of Assasin's Creed of Far Cry. Showing how people lived in Poland back then. Showing so called "The Small Sabotage" - kids writing slogans on walls to do their part in uplifting the nation. Showing schools and courts in regular homes with German soldiers walking just outside totally unaware. And most of all showing the famous Action Near The Arsenal, where one of famous polish fighters was freed. I suppose the only reason why nobody did that is because The Germans would be offended. Because they were black characters in this story and they do a lot to make the world forget about that. Even worse, the Germans try to teach us, the Poles, tolerance, democracy and rule of law now. I'm from Poland and we do understand saying "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" way too literately. My friend's great great grandfather was killed in Katyń. How did we crush it? Simple. II world war is not about german vicotries all the time. They were loosing in Africa where we fought. We would win in the beginning if we weren't in the same time attacked from east. If it was only Germany we'd stood a chance against them. In battle for Britain we were leading, British people called us crazy ones because we destroyed enemy's planes when British waited for bigger support. Our need for revenge was often in words: screw this! We'll crush them without waiting for more people on our side...and we made that. Yup, not many of us did save Judes but we did. We knew what we risked, many families were killed or taken to the concentration camps because they were helping. Sad fact: neighbours betrayed them wanting, for example, brae men field to be theirs. The fact Judes cry about this the loudest but there were other nations that were hated just as much as them back then. Slovakias (Polish, Czech, Slovians), Romes were killed too. Half of my family fought and died in Warsaw uprising. What hurt us the most was BETRAYAL from USA and England who gave us to ZSRR as if we were unnsesesary trash :/
Yes, Polish people saved many Jews. My grandparents were saving them and one of my grandfathers was killed by Germans because of that. As for breaking german resistance, polish soldiers had germans busy basically during whole WW2 in Poland, Italy, England, France etc. We kept fighting even with small number of soldiers on our side (there is a song about battle of Wizna played by sweden rock band Sabaton and i highly recommend it to you). It’s hard to fully answer your questions and concerns in the topic of Polish role in WW2 but if you want to know something even after all comments below i will be more than happy to answer. I’m history teacher so it’s my passion.

About Polish saving Jews: there is a honorific used by the State of Israel to describe non-Jews who risked their lives during the Holocaust, to save Jews from extermination by the Nazis for altruistic reasons. Polish people have the most all over the world, despite the longest German occupation, and the therat of death penalty. Check on wikipedia
There is a title of Righteous Among the Nations title granted by Israeli World Holocaust Rememberance Centre in Yad Vashem for those who helped or saved Jews during Holocaust. The most places on the list are Poles.

The resistance inside camps is nudge towards Witold Pilecki - Inmate 4859 who volunteered to infiltrate Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. He let himself get arrested to be sent in there under a fake name. Barely avoided being killed, built resistance inside Auschwitz and managed to sent information as to what is happening in those camps out as at the time, noone really knew. When he did not receive reply, he actually escaped from Auschwitz with 2 other inmates. Eventually he was killed in 1948 by shot in the back of his head by Soviets. His body still has not been found. He is probably one of the greatest heroes of WW2 and the world, yet so few know about him.
6:25: You probably get why Poles tend to go ballistic when people refer to the Nazi death camps as "Polish death camps". The Polish government-in-exile and the "Polish Underground State" under it have been organizing escape for Jews from the occupied territory, as well as passing and carrying out death sentences on Nazi collaborators and people who would exploit Jewish survivors for financial gain ("szmalcownicy"). 8:00: The Polish resistance movement was the most extensive one in the occupied Europe. 9:59: This is true, but there's a reason many people believe it was the British. How it went was that a Polish team broke the civilian Enigma and military models during the war. The British then used that research to break later improved military models and scaled up the codebreaking efforts to a mass scale.
Fun fact: in 1919 Poland invaded the Bolsheviks (Soviets), to prevent a future invasion of Europe. The war lasted 2 years, and with the help of some Ukranians, Poland basically won the Polish-Soviet war, taking some of the land in the Peace of Riga, the treaty that ended the war. Poland and Ukraine prevented an invasion of Europe by weakening the Soviets before they got a chance to expand further. Poland's been invaded 43 times, and has fought many more.

Poland largely gets ignored in history. Most know Poland was invaded by Germany and was the official start of the war, and some know of the Warsaw uprising, but that's about it. The details aren't reflected on, and when I was in school, Polish lancers charging tanks with spears on horseback was part of what was taught that reinforced the pollock stereotype despite this being a fabricated lie. It's a damned shame given all they gave and fought against. And this, by far, is not the first time that they were part of "saving the world". Just a decade and a half earlier they saved Europe from war with Russia. Through the war Poland never stopped fighting. The government had fled to the UK for safety with some of the remaining military forces while the home army continued to engage in guerilla warfare. Even the Girl Guides and Polish Boy Scouts took part in the fighting, most notably the Warsaw Uprising where they fought toe to toe with the Nazis. I'd tend to blame the hiding of Polish history being a result of the Soviet occupation. They were a soviet state at the end of the war, given to Stalin to appease him. As a result Poland fell by the wayside of history as did the histories of multiple other nations that became Soviet states because they would be bunched up in with Russia when it came to the cold war propaganda, and the Russians themselves trying to wipe Polish history to try and erase their identity Germany, in early war, was only the top because they were the ones preparing for war through the time period that the rest of the world feared another war. And when it was starting the European powers were desperately trying all they could to avoid war. They were not prepared. German success depended solely on quick overpowering of enemy forces because they could not sustain a prolonged conflict. By the end of 1942 they were already collapsing under the weight of opposition because their whole shtick had revolved around capturing areas quickly to exploit resources and power, and it wasn't enough.
The Germans, and the soviets were responsible for the war. The soviets got off freely even despite their crimes. My grandfather didn't return to Poland after the war, he knew what the Reds would do to Poles who fled west at the immediate start of the war before the soviets "joined" the allies.

You are one of the only people who reacted to this who instead of saying "wow, cool" or "wow, that was so terrible you guys" you actually said "I feel so stupid that I never knew about this". Yes. That's the point. People don't know, and they aren't ashamed of it. Katyń was a premeditated, planned, and organized war crime. Thousands of officers, professors, students and priests, even though majority of them were CIVILIANS, were arrested, kidnapped off the street and hauled off to Katyń where they were executed, slaughtered, mass murdered, thrown into mass graves. Why? Because they were smart. Because their intelligence made them dangerous, capable of preparing an organized resistance. And what does history say about this in western schools? "Oh no! Anyway..."

The Black Devils refers to the armored division which fought along side the allies forces. They made incredible brakethroughs in Netherlands. Many refugees got into the Allied Forces Polish Army and though for the free world in Africa, Italy, the Netherlands, RAF Division 303 Fighters who had amazing stats in the air Battle for Britain in 1940.
News from museum: 24. 03. 1944 Pregnant Wiktoria and Józef Ulma and their six children were shot dead in Markowa by Nazi military police officers , because they helped Jews 1995 Yad Vashem granted the Ulmas the title of the Righteous Among the Nations The Ulma Family Museum in Markowa is Poland’s first institution commemorating Poles who helped Jews.
Poland was the only country (to my knowledge) which instiitutionalized "saving jews", fake papers, fake new identities, smuggling people (not only those of Jewish heritage) abroad.. it quite quickly became a process, but on the other hand it should not be so surprising since we had ~150 years of experiance on how to build and govern an "underground" country. Read about "Żegota".
Oh, and we did not have power. We had honor, persistence, we had to do what we had to do. If no weapons were available we had guile. We were desperate. Even small children participated in Underground actions. And we were on our own and we new that, that if we don't do anything no one will do it for us.

Friend, My country has not been on the maps for 123 years. But we regained independence! Later... The Germans attacked us. The Germans built concentration camps on Polish territory. All POLES and Jews, i.e. POLES professing Judaism, i.e. Poles who professed Judaism, died there. On September 17, 1939, the Russians attacked us. Before that, we saved Europe for Muslims. The Polish king Sobeiski saved Europe in 1683 ... Later we were sold in Yalta, Podjdam and Tehran .... Remember ... we never give up ...
people dont really know much about poland because its a small country not very known so most of ppl dont really give a shit about us... i was born in poland and my whole familly is polish when i was 9 i moved to France and now i live in sweden and i was in school in both countries and whenever we talk about WW2 they never mansion poland there was this one time i asked my teacher why and he answerd that its because ppl think that poland was just the battle field for the 2 BIGGER AND STONGER countries (Germany and Russia) so i think ppl really underate polish ppl and i cant really get throught, why does ppl think that. We didn't really had much power, nor our government had. Germans were indeed scared of us popping up from the shadows and blowing up their tanks by sending dogs with bombs for one-way mission under their tanks. But on global scale it didn't amount to much. We kept resisting, even if the resistance barely had any effects. Breaking the enigma code and saving the Jews were the most important things we did I think other than simply not yielding to the occupants. It was not the government that was strong. it were Polish people themselves. We didn't resist because the government told us so. We resisted because we are Poles. What do we get now? Americans thinking they broke enigma first. Jews demanding decompensation and apologies from us. European media saying that German concentration camps were Polish. The history needs to be protected. It can't be written by the largest nations alone. And definitely can't be bent to fit some political agenda.
My brother-in-laws great grandpa was murdered during the Katyń Massacre. My dad’s moms neighbors family were all killed by the Nazis for hiding Jews, including an infant. Also my dad’s uncle was put into a Labor camp during the war. He was forced to move to Germany from Poland, but luckily at that camp he met his eventual future wife. They both moved to the U.S. in the 1950’s. It’s different hearing about atrocities like this happening and actually having family members that have stories where they actually witnessed or lived it.
Yes, Poland broke the German Enigma. Or atleast created the mathematical formula to break it. The only problem was to work out the equation by hand would take 2 weeks minimum. Meaning that the information is likely old and useless by the time it reaches military command. Alan Turing created the computer that was capable of solving the formula in just minutes. But yes, the Poles do get credit for officially breaking it. They actually broke it before the war even started.

My greatgrandmother in the time of war, hide Jew and risk life of her familly (husband and 2 doughters). The Jew came out at night from place under the floor to stretch herself a bit and simply eat and rest normal. Than Suddenly knock to door germans. They used to visit to check etc. The Jew quickly hide him self in Old wordrobe with broken doors. Two germans sat and some small noises came from wordrobe than youngest doughter jump i to german laps and start play with him. You should really get familiar with story about rotman Witold Pilecki! A Polish hero who volunteered to be captured and closed in Auschwitz(German death camp) to find out how they looks. This is real story for hollywood movie!
Though I love Wojciech Drewniak's Channel in this episode he forgot to mention about one very important Pole also forgotten by the world who informed the world about the German Nazist Camps. He was the hero and both James Bond and Ethan Hunt would be wusses beside him. His name was Jan Karski: "In July 1942, the German Nazis began mass deportations of Jews from occupied Warsaw to the extermination camp in Treblinka. Jan Karski, a young diplomat who started working as a courier for the Polish Resistance undertook an extremely important mission. He offered to give the free world an account of the extermination of Polish Jews as an eyewitness. He managed to get to the Warsaw ghetto twice, and then to a transit camp in Izbica Lubelska. Despite many adversities, using various false names, Karski reached London by the end of November. So the crushing german resistance means, Polish soldier were part of the allied army and they were moving twoards Berlin and germans were on the defense
