This man has played backup instrumentals for Elvis and other artists, he's been a session musician, a music producer, and a songwriter. He sings comedy, country, gospel, classic pop, musical standards, and he's even done an album of Frank Sinatra songs.
Ray Stevens is a country & pop singer-songwriter & comedian known for his novelty hits such as "Gitarzan", "Ahab The Arab", "Along Came Jones", "The Streak" and others. But he also did a few serious songs such as "Misty" & "Everything Is Beautiful" which he won a Grammy for in 1970.

I'm sure Ray was inspired to write this because he had earlier produced Dolly Parton's recording of a song she wrote "Everything's Beautiful (in its own way)". Give it a listen. Also want to recommend two songs written by Dolly years ago that she re-recorded and made beautiful videos for: "Here I Am" with Sia, and "Together You and I" which has video footage submitted for the video from all over the world .... Egypt, India, etc.
I was born in 1959 and I remember this song and I still have the cassette. The 1 thing that I noticed in his video is his sweat shirt. The USA FLAG. Wish that we could all come together as One Nation Under GOD and One People under that Flag. So much Division and Hatred today.
People laugh when they hear the name Ray Stevens. Known for dopey comedy songs. I am NOT laughing, This is a beautiful singing voice for someone who is 90% famous for COMEDY songs like his hilarious mega-hit "The Streak" and another hilarious one called "I'm My Own Grandpa" back around 1973. I remember the radio version from when I was a child was hugely popular. I knew he had a nice voice - I don't remember him having such a rich deep gorgeous baritone voice. Hope I can find more like this. His comedy songs are very silly and most of them I don't find all that funny, but lots of people do, so anyway, I think you should have fun reacting to The Streak and maybe some of his other fan favorites!
