The song is about the long years of violence between Pro-British Protestant forces and Pro-Irish independence Catholic forces around the Northern Ireland/Irish Republic border.
This was released when I was 17 and had been living through 'The Troubles' as they were called in N.ireland . I loved the cranberries , they put into words what we were feeling
First time hearing this song, I was amazed by her voice, her accent is like out of this world, angelic and the yodeling, keening are like she alone can do it, the message was so deep and since then I became a huge fan, buying their every album, until now listening to them whenever I feel like to.
I get so sad watching this video. I just wish people could realize we are all children of God and that our hate and division is our greatest weakness. We need more kindness and optimism today. Set a good example for our youth
New subscriber. Love your heart girl. This came out when i was 17....46 now. Still cry to this day. I'm part Irish but every ethnicity has gone through a civil war. I cry when i watch African documentaries or German as I'm mostly German but because of the world wars we're still persecuted. And it was all because of some Austrian fk. But it gets to me on different levels. Not saying that ANY racial slur is acceptable but Kraut and white boy seem to be the only ones you can say on TV. So it's a lil disheartening. I'm mostly German and Dutch but part Irish, so i guess white boy is acceptable to everyone else cuz I'm all white. So these videos get to me cuz my ancestors had to go through this stuff too. But like i said you have an amazing heart and got love for you already. ❤
