FIRST TIME REACTING TO | THE WARNING "DISCIPLE" REACTION 

What was it like growing up in that house? Well, a few years ago the band was doing a live chat Q&A with us where we were understandably heaping praise on them. There were the normal types of questions one might expect. Dany, Pau and Ale were answering them with thoughtful dignity and humor. About an hour in, their mother Monica pops into the live chat with the most important question of all…”have you done your chores yet girls?”. Its easy to see the rock stars they have become, but the women they have become is down to not only the support and love from both parents, but the discipline instilled in them as well. Oh, and by the way, Dany, Pau and Ale were both mortified and made to laugh by their mother interrupting their rock and roll moment with the fans. It was one of the many highlights I have of watching these women grow into what they are now. Loved the reaction. 🤘🏻

The sisters are simultaneously rock stars on the cusp of world recognition and kind humble young ladies who were raised with strong values and respect for others. They are The Warning!

The Warning are three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico that started making music very young Alejandra (Ale = Aleh, not the beer. Bass, backing vocals and keyboard, the youngest- 18) and Paulina (Pau = Pow. Drums, backing/lead vocals and keyboard, middle sister 21) at 3 and Daniela (Dany = Dany. Guitar, lead vocals and keyboard, the oldest 23) 5, all learning classical piano. They got the video game Rock Band and fell in love with the feeling of performing on other instruments. Their father asked if they wanted to learn another instrument and the girls jumped at the opportunity and gravitated to the instruments they played in Rock Band. They had been uploading their musical journey to RU-vid for their family to see and had wanted to try and play music together as a band around 2012 and started rehearsing for a small performance for their school xmas show. Well They loved the experience so much they began learning and playing cover songs of hard rock and metal bands. One song in particular shot them into the limelight. That song, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica had gone viral (currently over 22 000 000 views) and had gotten the attention of Metallica, Dee Snyder and The Ellen Show! The Warning wrote, composed and recorded an EP called Escape the Mind in 2015 to experience that whole process and to determine what type of music they liked to make... Thankfully they chose Rock/Hard Rock! Ellen Degeneres invited the band to play live on her show, to which they accepted and played "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne, after the performance Ellen and Target awarded the sisters $10,000 each to attend Berklee School of Music in Boston, Ma. USA. They performed a number of small and large shows afterward and began writing and composing new material for their first full length album "XXI Century Blood" in 2017. They supported this album with some very high profile gigs like opening for Def Leppard and separately The Killers for two shows each in Mexico. Also following other large rock bands in a couple music festivals. In 2018 they wrote and recorded "Queen of the Murder Scene" and released it in November of that year and have toured Mexico and South American venues. In June of 2019 they released a single, "Narcisista". A scathing rebuke of their Mexican critics that had accused the band of being "Malinchista" a Mexican term used to call out cultural traitors, because the group has only recorded English language songs. Well this song is in Spanish and it is full of attitude and angst fired toward those critics. This was recorded live in June 2019 at Foro Didi in Monterrey Mx (their hometown) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O7IAEhN4RMM.html The Warning is totally fan-funded through Patreon, RU-vid and crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe and Kickstarter. They have turned down offers from record labels and talent shows like American Idol because they did not want to lose their control of their music, image and wanted to focus on learning. In fact in one interview with a record label they were asked if they would rather play to 12 people or 12000. Paulina piped up and said The Warning would rather play in front of 12 if it meant they would keep their integrity and could play the music they want to play, how they want to play... That is the most Rock n Roll quote ever! So after a very successful Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a North American tour and to record a new album achieving their goal within 24 hours and surpassing that goal by 600%. Unfortunately the Covid-19 Pandemic forced the band to cancel their tour plans and postpone making their album. Their last live show before the global lockdown was March 14 2020 at the Vive Latino 2020 Festival in Mexico City.This did not stop The Warning from performing though, they played a full concert set from their basement studio/rehearsal space for free for their fans on RU-vid and Facebook achieving well over 50,000 simultaneous viewers on March 25, 2020. They have since performed from The Warning Cave a couple more times including for the city of Brownsville, Tx. for the Fourth of July virtual celebration and later in the summer for a charity event with rock legends like Slash and Ringo Star. On August 9th 2020 The Warning announced to their Patreon community that after seven long months of negotiations they had signed a five record deal with Lava Records, a label under the Republic Records and Universal Music family. During the announcement they reiterated their dedication to their own creative integrity and dedicated fans on Patreon and were able to retain both in their record contract with Lava. In Sept of 2020 The Warning traveled to New Jersey, USA to begin rehearsal and eventually recording of their third album. After three months of recording and a month and a half of mastering, mixing and editing the third album was completed at the beginning of February, 2021. All that remains as of 22/02/21 is the album design and artwork and logistics of the release which will hopefully happen by the end of 2021. In March of 2021 The Warning was invited to cover a song from Metallica's eponymous 5th album (The Black Album) with Canadian Grammy and Juno award winning pop star Alessia Cara for Metallica's Blacklist album. A 30th anniversary celebration for the Metallica album. They selected to record Enter Sandman, a fitting song because it was this song that propelled The Warning 7 years previous into stardom. The Warning reimagined the song with Alessia and produced a fresh new feeling that goes above and beyond what others have done with the song... On October 8th, 2021, The Warning released six songs that were recorded for the new album on an EP titled Mayday with the remaining 6 songs to be released at a later date. Starting on the 18th of Feburary 2022 The Warning started out on their previously twice cancelled North American Mayday Tour. Their forst show was on Saltillo Mx followed by a short set openning for Mammoth WVH in Las Vegas, NV and another short set opening for Sammy Hagar in Austin Tx at the SXSW Festival. Welcome to the warning army! These young ladies are the future of rock!

Here is some basic information about The Warning just to get you up to speed, but there is always more to learn. They are bilingual, fluent in both Spanish and English. Although they compose their music primarily in English, they have two Spanish language songs, both are crowd favorites no matter where they play them. The three-member band consists of Dany (Daniela) Villarreal Velez who is 23 y/o on lead guitar and vocals, and her sisters, Pau (Paulina) who is 21 y/o on drums and vocals, and Ale (Alejandra) who is 18 y/o on bass guitar and backing vocals. They are from Monterrey, Mexico. All three are classically-trained pianists. Although they have yet to use the instrument on any if their compositions, both Dany and Ale also play saxophone. Clearly, they are musical prodigies. They fell in love with Rock music at an early age through watching concert videos of such bands as Queen, Pink Floyd, and AC/DC that their parents played for them. Also, their parents bought them the game Rockband which Dany and Pau loved playing even when Ale was 3 y/o and too young to join in. Note: later versions of the game include songs by The Warning. Ale loved watching her sisters play. Luis and Monica, their parents, noticed how skilled Dany was playing the mock guitar at age 7 and how coordinated Pau was on the mock drums at age 5 and asked them if they wanted to try learning the real instruments. They hooked them up with instruments and professional lessons. Dany suffered through the sore fingertips that comes with learning to play the guitar, but her love of the instrument never failed. Pau loved hitting things, so it was natural that she become a drummer, even though she had difficulty finding anyone who wanted to teach her because she was barely bigger than a toddler and being a girl playing a traditionally male instrument didn't help either. But before long, her tenacity impressed a professional drummer enough that he took her under his wing to turn her raw talent and coordination into skill. When Ale was old enough, she wanted to play an instrument as well and fell in love with the bass guitar, even if the half-scale bass she started out on was as big as she was. When they realized that the instruments they were learning to play formed the basis of a rock band, they started learning to play them together. They officially formed a Rock band in 2012 when they were 12, 10 and 7 and like most bands, they started out playing covers of their favorite songs. They recorded their mini shows to share with their grandparents and other relatives. But, since the videos were too big to send via email, they created a RU-vid channel and uploaded their videos. Eventually, strangers started to watch their videos as well and word began to spread about the three sisters from Mexico who played Rock music. In 2014, a cover of Metallica's Enter Sandman went viral with millions of views, and the rest is, as they say, history. Based on their new-found fame, they ended up the subject of interviews on local TV shows due largely to the novelty of being a Rock band at their ages, but also how well they played. In the US, they appeared on The Ellen Show. Ellen, along with Target, sponsored them to attend the summer session of Berklee College of Music in Boston where they expanded their knowledge of music theory, song composition, etc. Ale's bass teacher was also instrumental in encouraging all of them to compose their own music. So, each of them has written complete songs although over the years they have arrived at a system for writing their original music. Pau starts off a song with a basic beat, the main riff, and some lyrics. She usually does this on a piano at home or on a midi keyboard plugged into her laptop computer. When she has the basic structure of a song, she demos it to her sisters and the three of them decide whether to continue work on the song or to nix it altogether with a simple vote of 2 out of 3 majority rules. Although they are sisters and of course have sibling squabbles from time to time, they usually argue the most in the process of composing their music. Their first songs explored their range of interests and musical influences as they searched for a sound and genre they wanted to pursue. They compiled an EP of their early music titled Escape the Mind. Though they didn't initially intend to release it publicly, their growing following persuaded them otherwise. Their first full album was released in 2017, titled XXI Century Blood. The album also contains some of their earliest compositions and the process of recording helped solidify their sound and musical direction showing a great deal of maturity for their ages. Several of the songs have become fan favorites and still appear on their concert setlists. Their second album was released in 2018, titled Queen of the Murder Scene. It is an ambitious undertaking, essentially a Rock novel about a girl falling into love unrequited, eventually stalking and murdering the object of her obsession, and subsequently, her descent into self-destructive madness. It was during the composition of this album that the three truly arrived at their present system for creating their music as a team. Several of the songs presented unique challenges for them as they continued to expand their knowledge of music and experimented with key changes and varying tempos. They learned that working together was often the best way to resolve the problems they faced in creating their music. Over the years, The Warning were approached by several labels and production companies wanting to sign them to a contract. But each time, the outsiders wanted to change their look, their music, or both. Even Disney approached them about creating a series based on their lives. But The Warning refused to change what they envisioned for themselves, and they stayed true to their musical dream and ambitions. Late in 2019, they were first approached by Lava/Republic Records and for the first time a label was interested in them for who they are and their music for what it is. After several months of negotiation, they signed a five-album deal becoming the first Latin American band signed directly to a major US label. They had also planned a major tour of the US for 2020, which was cut short by the Pandemic, but it also afforded them plenty of time to produce their third album, to be called Error. It was recorded in the fall and winter of 2020 in New Jersey with award-winning producer, David Bendeth. They began releasing singles from the recording session in mid-2021 with the intention of supporting their releases with an extensive tour. But because of the continuing uncertainty of the Pandemic, those tour dates kept being pushed back and the plans for their album's release were also impacted. As they had released several singles already, and their fans clamored for more, they issued an EP consisting of six tracks, including the singles from their upcoming album, titling the collection Mayday. With the relaxing of restrictions on touring, The Warning started appearing live again in early 2022 as part of their Mayday tour with shows in Mexico and Las Vegas before opening in Mexico City for the Foo Fighters. In Mid-2022, they released the full album titled Error, consisting for 14 tracks, 8 new tracks added to the six previously released on the Mayday EP. Over the course of the past year, in addition to touring the US as a headliner, they have played at several festivals and have also opened for Mammoth WVH, Halestorm, Stone Temple Pilots, Three Days Grace, and in early 2023 they opened four shows in Mexico for their Rock heroes and musical influence Muse. During May 2023, they also supported GodSmack in the US. They have also been working on new material in songwriting sessions with several songwriters and producers since December while also planning their first European tour, during which they are already scheduled to open several more shows for Muse and Jinjer (in Zürich). In October 2023, they are scheduled for a major show for at the Pepsi Center during the F1 race.

Great to see/hear you finally catch The Warning and I loved your reaction. Just in case nobody's mentioned this yet, you've now been Warned. You can expect great feedback from The Warning Army (TWA) along with a flood of information and recommendations. These girls give this old rocker genuine hope for the future of, if not the very survival of, real good ol' hard rock. My suggestion would be that you check out their cover of Metallica's "Enter Sandman" done when they were quite young, and which now has had 24 Million views. At the time, Dani (Daniela) on guitar was 14, Pau (Paulina) on drums was 12 and Ale (Alejandra) on bass was 9. As kids they did a number of covers, but what really planted them on their trajectory to become Rock Goddesses was when they started writing their own songs. "Disciple", to which you've just reacted, is one of their large catalogue of original material. This concert was the second they made in Mexico City last year for the Mayday Tour in Teatro Metropolitan (sold out for 3,200 people each time) after they open the tour fon Halestor an Pretty Recksless in US. This year the concert in Mexico City will be in a venue for 7000 and they will be touring in Europe

Discovered these ladies on my channel when someone suggested them to me. Now I've reacted to 13 of their songs or covers, they are incredible. Love this song and the drummer is so talented. They all are. I recommend "Narcisista" it's sung entirely in Spanish and it's one of my faves of theirs. I don't speak Spanish but I watch the lyric video and im bound and determined to memorize it because it's so good.

If you dive into this band(please do), you will find three of the most humble rock stars ever. Their parents ARE so proud. 23, 21, and 18yrs old, having been a performing band for 10+ years, there are a lot of music videos to see how they grew and progressed to be what they are today. Old guys, like me, think of them as the granddaughters we never had. The 40 to 50 crowd see them as nieces. They are reviving Rock&Roll. Their lyrics are amazing, just like their music.

From Paulina - Disciple is a song about social media, right? and how opinions are bought in social media and are fed to us in a way that we don't even know and how by like feeding ignorance and cultivating hate, like people gain a lot of power and money So that's what Disciple is about The Villarreal Velez sisters are amazing songwriters and performers from Mexico who live in Monterrey, San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "QUEEN OF THE MURDER SCENE", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and the fight over her soul. It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI CENTURY BLOOD", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "ESCAPE THE MIND"; and it is amazing. Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group in the fall of 2020. They decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called "MAYDAY" October 8th, 2021. The entire album was released June 24th, 2022: called "ERROR". "Disciple" is my favorite track. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. A year or so later, they got "real" instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Amazing they are 23, 21 and 18 years old and have already written, arranged, and released #46 original songs. I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. I had the opportunity to meet with them 2 more times during the 6 shows I attended on their recent North American MAYDAY Tour. FYI, a couple of examples of lead singer/drummers from past decades are Phil Collins of Genesis, and Don Henley of the Eagles. It's a rare combination, but has been done before.

Well, you chose a great video for your 2nd reaction. Love that you loved them, although it's extremely hard not too. ⚡ There is two more from this 2 hour powerful show made public on their YT Channel. Both are absolute Bangers. Animosity & Enter Sandman. ES closes with my absolute favorite moment for them. That last minute (for me) wraps up 10 years of hard work, dedication, sacrifice, blood sweat & tears, in a violent abrupt smack in the head, with realization of 9 yr old Ale rocking to ES in sandals, 12 yr old Pau hammering that kit, and 14 yr old Dany channeling James Hetfield, in their basement, to all of them absolutely Crushing it, in the most ass kicking Rock fashion imaginable. To me that was the absolute solidification to the dog eat dog industry, that they are here for the long haul, and they have nothing more to prove. Everything from here is organic growth, and the sky is the limit! 🤘

Drummers that sing are a rare thing. You can look up a Canadian band from the late 70's -80's called Triumph. The drummer sings lead on about half their stuff. Having seen them live, it's an impressive feat!

Yeah, their drummer's vocals are even more impressive in Survive, and I think she was like sixteen when they recorded that. Totally badass.

You can also watch Don Henley or Phil Collins or others if you want to see drummers singing while they are playing. I agree that it is not the usual convention. These girls are straight rockers. I don't think I have ever heard any "island" or Mexican vibe in their music but I have not heard all of it.

Shi , you ain't seen nothing yet ! Paulina , the drummer is probably the most talented person I've ever seen ! 1st of all at 13 she pretty much wrote the lyrics and music for the " queen of the murder scene " album. The lyrics will blow you mind and she was only 13 at the time. add in her brilliant drumming and vocals and it will even blow your mind more .. I'm addicted to this band ! I'm 53 and have been waiting for somthing to come along and excite me about music again . These 3 girls in their teens are just awsome all the way around !

I hope we get to hear more from The Warning on your channel. "Animosity", "Evolve", "Choke", "Money" ... they have so many great songs! And a lot of cool different formats. "Animosity" has a great animated video (collab with Webtoons - I am the Grim Reaper). The official music video of "Evolve" is wonderful. There's even an acoustic of "Money" from a radio show when Pau sings because Dany was sick. Please check them out again!

You aren't wrong that the drummer, Paulina or just Pau, is impressive. In addition to drumming and singing, she is the lead songwriter. She sings lead on perhaps 15% of their songs. The guitar player, Daniela or just Dany, is a vocal powerhouse. She sings lead on the 85% of their songs. I suggest you check out live versions of Evolve, Error, and Money to hear more of her. The bassist, Alejandra or just Ale, also sings well, but she prefers not to sing lead.
