TG has really amazing OST, such a shame the anime adaptation messed up so bad.... The art in the endings is the same you can find in the manga. Beautiful. TG talks about that, in the present time, there is another race that "coexits" with the humans: the ghouls. Problem with them? They eat humans, is their only source of nutrients. They cant eat normal food, just coffe. TG is about Kaneki, a normal japanese guy in Tokyo that has an accident where he got implanted a ghoul organ and he became a half ghoul, because his body changed to accept the new cells in his body, unable to eat normal food. That way he is forced to learn about the ghoul society, what they do to live along side the humans (some of them, others are psycopath killers), etc. It's pretty interesting, a lot of action and moral conflict. Apart from the last arc of the manga and pretty much all the anime after Kaneki's hair became white, it was a masterpiece. Endings are usually either sad songs or pretty upbeat ones, it doesnt matter the genre of the anime XD If you start with the endings, check some of Naruto. My favourites are the first one, WIND (in english curiously) and Nakushita kotoba FMA has also a pretty one, Kesenai Tsumi, the first one of the old series. And Vanitas no Carte has actually better endings than openings

Root A (Opening 2), despite its flaws as an anime, has one of the most beautiful endings I've ever seen and heard. The lyrics deeply express the protagonists struggles and will to move forward despite the dark events that occur around him. Incredible.

You can definitely give it a chance, as you said, since you don't know the original story it's possible to find the anime good! One of the things that I really enjoy about reading the Manga was watching Sui Ishida's art progress, it started with an ok style and end with pure art, I had to stop reading to really appreciate the panels, such an amazing art.

The artist of Tokyo Ghoul's third ending has impressive vocal range. They have done the first opening for Dororo which highlights that quality of their voice. They also have a First Take videos. Check them out too. The second ending is my favourite because of its poetic lyrics. As is always the case with Amazarashi. You should also check out their First Take videos (with English captions) and the second opening for 86 which you have already done but with the full song and lyrics on display.

I think you'll enjoy watching the Tokyo Ghoul anime. I do agree that the manga is better, and I haven't even finished reading it. Bonus info for you though. The reason the anime and manga have notable differences is because when it was being 'anime'tized, the mangaka of Tokyo Ghoul gave the anime director the liberty to tell the story his own way, which resulted in a shift of story events, timing, importance amd impact of key events, etc. Overall, it's the same story told in a different order with some events missing. Now, this info mainly applies to the first 2 seasons of Tokyo Ghoul. The last 2 season of Tokyo Ghoul called Tokyo Ghoul: re is an entirely different can of worms. I think most will have the same sentiment as me when I say it's not that great. I personally didn't enjoy Tokyo Ghoul: re much. With the first 2 seasons having had the storytelling liberties, Tokyo Ghoul: re makes little to no sense. I do personally need to finish reading the manga for Tokyo Ghoul, Tokyo Ghoul: re included. Because of this, I can't critique it too hard, as I don't know the storyline for the manga for Tokyo Ghoul: re. But, having watched all the anime, it wasn't great. Not saying it was terrible, just not quite up there for me.

ive read most of :Re and for the most part the story of :Re is the same, but so much is cut to fit the episode count makes it so that motives, characters and events simply make near to no sense. Pair that with the liberties of season 1 & 2 and its just a mess

I’ve got some openings recommendations. 1) dorohedoro - probably the most chaotic and crazy opening I have even seen. With the visuals behind it, well I guess you will have to see for yourself. The show is supernatural based with magic in a more modern setting but leans into a darker side. Oh and the main character has a lizard head. It is quite adult. 2) dororo (2019 version) - I know I’ve recommended it before, but I still think the animators did an amazing job on the first opening creating a water colour effects. Short description: a dark supernatural samurai story. Following a gritty version of the hero’s journey.

for me personally, kisetsu wa tsugi tsugi shindeiku is the best tokyo ghoul ending, even one of the best endings, lyrics and melody perfect match for their seasons, i'll put it up in the top 10 anime ending list with migi and dali ED skyline

Check out cowboy bebop ending "the real folk blues" please Also trigun opening and ending And Inuyasha openings and endings! And all the Gundam opening and endings! And the slayers opening and endings! And ergo proxy opening and endings! And witch hunter Robin opening and endings! And the outlaw star opening and endings! There are tons more I want to recommend but I don't want to overwhelm 😂 One thing you will realize GOT is that there are literal tens of thousands of peak anime content you have not seen even with all the reactions you've done so far. It's like not seeing a single tv show or a movie in your entire life and finally checking everything out all at once, it's gonna take many years. I've been into anime since I was 6 and I am now 33 so it's just normalized for me, but for you I can tell it's pretty insane backlog 😂

The OST from 86 is done by Hiroyuki Sawano. I watched your video on one of the songs but there is a lot more there. I also recommend the opening/ending of kabaneri of the iron fortress. Aimer and Hiroyuki do those.

I recommend to check out Yuki Kajiura (FictionJunction, Kalafina) too, surely you'll love it, she makes the best songs / OST for anime like Sword Art Online, Fate Zero, Madoka Magica, NOIR, .hack, Kara no Kyoukai , Pandora Hearts.. These are "some" of my favorite songs that I want you to listen: Saijin no Kanata e..., Zodiacal Sign, Moonlight Melody, Salva nos, Open Your Heart, Oblivious, Red Moon, Contractor, Yume no Tsubasa, When the Fairy Tale ends. There are several more wonderful songs that I believe you will enjoy as well, I can't wait to see your reactions of Yuki Kajiura's songs 😍

In my opinion a happy outro to a dark series is a good thing because if it was just doom and gloom you would eventualy get numb to it and it would need to get darker and darker to get the same reaction. dunno if it was the actual reason for it but if you watch the episodes back to back it would give you time to recover

Imo the music (OPs, EDs and OSTs) are the best thing to come out of this adaptation of the Tokyo Ghoul manga,. The manga is chuck full of great characters with different motives to advance the story and their perspectives are very well explored and presented, it's just the show wasn't very great at showing them also skipping/skimming a lot of events in the anime made so many other charachter motives feel shallow and sometimes events happen out of the blue

2nd ED author is *Amazarashi* and he have many best songs from JP, he is like TK. And since you watch EDs and 3rd ED made by *Jooubachi* this remind me about anime *Dororo.* It have 2 OPs and 2 EDs where both are great and 1st OP made by Jooubachi and 1st ED by Amazarashi (2nd OP by *Asian Kung-Fu Generation,* 2nd ED by *Eve* ) All 4 of them are best bands from JP! Jooubachi for 1st OP, which name is Kaen have also First Take full version of it.

Tokyo Ghoul actually has a fourth ending called "Rakuen no Kimi" by österreich but the tv show ending version was removed from youtube entirely. I wasn't aware of this before looking it up after this video though. The full version of the song is out there but there is no animation for it on youtube.

The first Full Metal Alchemist was made before the manga was completed. So they had no proper source material to go by. Brotherhood on the otherhand was made after the completion of the manga. They had the manga to go after as a source. So id say to watch FMA: Brotherhood instead of the first FMA

To address your confusion about darker vs lighter themes that you run into a lot, most darker animes aren't 100% dark/depressing/serious all the way through. They'll usually break it up with some lighter-hearted moments as you've seen in Attack on Titan here and there. Often times, as is the case with endings 1 & 2 seen here, you'll see the openings display the more hype/action oriented and serious side of the show (sometimes this can be flipped like for Death Parade) while the other might show a glimpse of something else. This generally doesn't make a show any less PG-13 or R rated, it just demonstrates that it isn't all just one flavor at all times.

i feel like the tokyo ghoul soundtrack does a fantastic job of conveying the feeling of reading the manga that the anime really struggled to capture. reading it really is this combination of gritty, violent darkness, that feels quite hopeless, and then the melancholic hope that comes after. i think the first season of tokyo ghoul makes a valiant effort, and while it doesnt quite get the mangas magic, its still a really good show and is a good intro to the story. however, season two is very confusing as they keep some key plot points but totally change the context for them, so none of the reasoning makes any sense. then season three they follow the manga closely again, except because of the deviations they already made, its hella confusing and also boring. its such a shame. if you do end up watching it, season one is a lot of fun!

Tokyo Ghoul is my #1 favorite anime, as a manga-reader I never really got why people gave it such big hate. Sure, it doesn't follow the manga after season 1, but the story was still coherent and I enjoyed the "what if" plot.

maybe because whole arcs were missing and all important character development that adds so much depth to the characters was cut too if you're anime only you might never know what you are missing but once you read the manga its completely different level and while i agree that i liked both too anime was nothing but a cheap ad for manga and the saddest part is im pretty sure if tokyo ghoul was shounen studio pierrot would milk it like it did with naruto they clearly didnt care about the production

I'm still voting for Danganronpa openings/endings or a watch. You want dark and twisted... uh... yeah. Also, Luke, a good piece of advice for many intros and endings to anime. "Don't judge a book by its cover". You've already seen how many are more "metaphorical" vs "literal" and are more chosen to strike an emotional chord than to actually be literal plot points. Sometimes they can be literal, but many times it's "fancy overviews" without any direct connection to the plot.

I don't care what anyone says, I've loved ALL seasons of Tokyo Ghoul, it's a great show. I don't care about mangas. I don't read a book before I watch a movie.
