More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. “Je suis Malade”, now a french classic, was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …). When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours. The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes. Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad. But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s. At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet during is own Paris concert in January 1995. I think in another video of that song in that concert you can listen to her saying exactly the same thing as you said about languages and music, it doesn't matter the language you speak, music is universal to give emotions... Did you notice that, right after the A Capella part, when she sings "Je suis malade" with music, she also says "c'est ça, je suis malade", the microphone is down, but her voice is so powerful that there's no difference... Lara Fabian has a very beautiful , very powerful but velvety voice in all her 4.2 ranges .... She sing so effortless, no ugly faces in high tones or other disturbing things in her singing. It is a voice you can listen tot the whole day . Apart from the dance hit in 2000 in America ""I will love again"" , Lara unfortunately does not have a worldwide hit in English like other great singers of her time and of her caliber... She didn't have or didn't get the right big songwriters from her record company...SONY No big musical music of movie music hits like Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion that made them famous worldwide.. Discovered Lara on TV, many years ago, performing at an international music festival(?). This was back in the VCR days. Literally wore out the tape rewatching her performance of 'Adagio' which will always be my fave of hers. As a student of French since the 60s, prefer her songs in French. For myself, enjoy and appreciate how a language changes when sung. Her style is not for everyone. Some find the 'drama' of how emotionally invested she becomes, while performing, to be a bit offputting. Would love more reactions to Lara. 😊

Ciao, scusa se ti correggo ma hai detto alcune cose sbagliate, LARA è nata in BELGIO da mamma italiana e padre belga, appena nata è stata trasferita in ITALIA a Catania nella casa della mamma e della nonna dove ha vissuto fino a 7 anni poi e tornata a vivere in BELGIO con la famiglia e poi si è trasferita in CANADA solo dopo aver compiuto i 20 anni e a 25 anni gli è stata data la cittadinanza canadese.
