I think for the Trilogy of Light in particular, it makes sense to look at the lyrics. Once you realize the three stages of grief it is talking about, it makes more sense. Arkadia is the stage of closure and finding confidence to look into the future, so it makes sense that it has less of that sad tone. Since you said that you are usually not much into Metal, I understand how this might be difficult for you to like. You might not be up to it, but it would probably benefit from listening multiple times. It’s typical Power Metal, meaning it’s fast, but the vocals are actually pretty melodic and much slower than the music in the background. So once you get over the first impression of chaos and overload (especially in combination with BABYMETAL‘s typical dancing and on-screen visuals), you might latch on to the melodies and start to like them better. For me it was only after having listened to it a dozen times or so that the emotion in the chorus (no more tears, no more pain, no more cry…) started to get to me, sometimes to the point of making me tear up. And suddenly the finale puts a great exclamation mark behind the whole journey and leaves you with new power once the last note rings out.

well, lucky for you guys, they don't have any other songs like this, and for a band that doesn't repeat itself, this kind of song had to be a part of their catalogue , i personally think that after the emotional rollercoaster that they put us through, with Starlight and Shine, that this song was designed to get us out of the tears and back into the inspirational speed-metal...lol

Interesting comments. I think I can get where you're coming from on this one. My own musical background I'm pretty sure is a different from your's. More metal, hard rock. Your comments regarding the consistency or comparative lack of contrasts in a song I do believe really describe the "staleness" of the metal scene that Babymetal was created to reimagine and reinvigorate. That said for me at least I always see this song in the overall context of the trilogy. There is sadness, grief, remembrance and ultimately transcendence. For me this is the moment where lives moves on. Not by forgetting the past sadnesses. But by growing from and becoming better because of them.

It’s ok to not like a song, even if from the Trilogy. But please don't say that thing about stereotype that way even for other bands, because that’s exactly what BABYMETAL is, a Metal band. Ofc their music has the weird flavours that makes it unique but their foundation comes from traditional Metal structure, they pay a lot of respect for the roots of the genre & it’s part of what makes BABYMETAL, BABYMETAL. So having Arkadia in their discography known for its musical variety is beyond common sense. Great reaction btw.

_For your dream, for your faith, for your life._ _No more tears, no more pain, no more cry._ Congratulations for finishing the official Trilogy of Lights, you pretty much got the meaning behind the songs. This is the final song not only of the trilogy but also from this Metal Galaxy 2019 album, after this they did Kingslayer, but that's a BMTH song, and later started with the new songs from latest album. This power metal song is full of hope and this is a live compilation with clips from 2019 and 2020 shows including Legend Metal Galaxy Day 2 2020 (that's the audio version) so the Western Kami Band was playing here and they were on the side of the stage, in the final song of both shows they got both Kami Band playing on the stage, one of the left and the other on the right along with the 3 avengers, an epic unique moment. Kami Band are always two guitars, a bass player and a drum player, 4 in total. Last time they played this song along with Starlight at Legend MM MomoMetal's 21 Birthday in March this year, so not the full trilogy but almost, now you know how special is Shine. Kitsune up and till next time 🦊🤘🔥

This song probably doesn't click for you the way a lot of the others do because this is a pure power/speed metal song and you guys, by your own admission, aren't really metal fans. Power metal, particularly the speed metal variant made famous by Dragonforce is all about evoking heroic, triumphant, glorious feelings in the listener. It's mean to be grand and bombastic and even a little over the top. I think what they were going for there is the idea of triumphing over grief and becoming glorious to carry forward the spirit of those who have been lost. It's a song about moving forward past the grief to a better tomorrow and putting that energy towards making the world a better place.

Shine is my favourite of the 3, but this worked for me at the end . The mysic that reminds me of a march near the end makes me think after all the emotional feelings, although uplifting this song was saying, "You done now go on to the new future and enjoy it " . Maybe listen to all 3 one after the other may give you a different feel . Or this just might not be the song for you to finish the Trilogy 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

Arkadia is an experience. Seeing that play of lights on the screen and the music gives you the feeling of completing a long and hard road. It's the same bitter and anguishing feeling that I felt with "the legend", (both because it was the end of their respective albums) of "the road ends here, but don't worry, everything will be fine" For me, since both songs conclude a journey, they do not work on their own.

this is hight octane triumphant move forward vibe after starlight (grief) and shine (acceptance) of the trilogy there are metal dudes had teary eyes watching this maybe because of those beautiful singing on top of their habitat (shreddy fast pace blast beat instruments)

If you guys like songs that switch it up through out I would suggest their progmetal song "Tales of the Destinies Live at the Tokyo Dome 2016". The song has something like 27 different time signature changes and is so technical that it has only ever been performed once in front of 55k people, Progmetal isn't for everyone but watching it for the precision of the Kami's and the dance of the girls is worth it. Another tune "Believing Live at PIA Arena" is one where they switch it up a lot, it's a hidden gem that no one does reactions to for some reason but has all the elements that Babymetal are known for.

Different people, different taste. To me Arkadia was the song that really blew me away. The speed, the fast guitars, the vocal harmonies and the feelings all that together creates make it so good (for me). But I always liked the faster songs for example from Helloween so it's no surprise that also Road of Resistance and Ijime, Dame, Zettai are among my favourite Babymetal songs.

The drums do prevent me from connecting to this song as strongly as I might. And BabyMetal are usually masters of keeping a song varied to maintain interest, but the drums are just too relentless in this song for me. Not that parts of it don't still get to me. The singing is soaring and hopeful. The beat is just...a little too much. And yeah, the trilogy is about stages of grief. First comes the anger, then the acceptance, then the hope for the future. This was meant to end on a positive note. Glad you got to finish it out finally. I've honestly never heard the studio version. XD The drums are always more intense live. Maybe the studio version is less exhausting? I enjoy reactions to this song, but I never listen to it 'just because'. 🤘🦊🤘

From the Trilogy this is the song / video I seldom listen to / watch in isolation. Shine by itself absolutely works for me and sometimes on repeat a couple of times. Arkadia by itself is both amazing and frustrating by its determination to stay on point which is moving on / forward. For me it works but not always. I find that a rarity among Babymetal songs where this happens. Perhaps it's the complexity of the emotions explored in Starlight and Shine. Then Arkadia is like moving forward in a (relatively) single-minded (though awesomely powerful) way. I love Arkadia . . most of the time. 😀
@tj1837
@tj1837 4 дня назад
I think - possibly - that the lyrics (via subs or familiarity) also help break up that compelling drumbeat. Everyone processes things differently and I must say that especially with Arkadia, singing along in my head works well with the frenetic, bewildering pace. Of course, sometimes you just feel like jumping into that feverish metal river and letting the current drag you along.

Great reaction, but you will upset some people (however, as you were saying after the comments under 'No Rain, No Rainbow', they will understand but this is a big favourite for a lot of them). I get exactly what you were saying, that is my issue with speed metal and the first couple of times I heard this one I felt the same way as you ... but that was the first couple of times. Give it a couple more listens and it will grow on you and it will all make sense. It actually does work as the finale for the Trilogy of Lights. After the emotions that 'Starlight' and 'Shine' evoke and make us feel, it is a very uplifting and optimistic song looking to the future. "No more tears. No more pain. No more cry."

Yeah most fans would undestand that people have different taste, and that's expecially true for Babymetal! It gathers so many different fans from different backgrounds that you can have completely different favourites! I bet that if you take 100 random fans and ask for 100 top 10, you will get 100 different lists 🤣 Probably the only song that will stay consistently in the top is Megitsune, and probably Ratatata also because of a recency Bias! I myself come from a non metal background, so I have tastes that are wildly different from a big part of the community ahahah

Nice honesty👊🏽⚡️ I agree with you that the song lacked the dynamics (especially the drumming) of most Babymetal songs. I think they wanted to give the song an almost military march type feel. And of course we are not all cut out for the military🦊🤘🏾

For someone who really enjoys power metal, this song is like heaven for me, the speed on the guitar and drums with the blast beat is very satisfying. Maybe that's one of the unique things about babymetal, their flexibility in exploring the genre is mind blowing, but of course there a certain song that just not for everyone, but objectively it's still a good song.

I understand your point of view regarding the stereotypical sound of a metal band, and it would be boring if all babymetal songs sound like that but if there is only one song like that in their repertoire it's refreshing. It's the same case with metal ballads, personally I don't like them but I love No Rain No Rainbow since it feels special since they have few songs like that.

To add to this I think this was a bit of a weird time for the band they had a couple of blows I won’t go into. I think these three being the end of Metal galaxy was them coping and moving forward as BABYMETAL in a new format while remembering what they were. I’m sure people have recommended guides about the band and that 2018-19 period was tough for them. For the three songs in the trilogy they are the only ones I’d recommend looking up the lyrics for as you can see the transition through them.

Good one. I think you guys will appreciate this more if you watched the trilogy all the way through. These 3 songs were the closing songs for this show, and really worked well guiding your emotions through loss/grief, then acceptance, and finally a triumphant call to move on towards a hopeful tomorrow, and ending the show on a positive high note. I can see how the song as a standalone can be a bit repetitive. Nonetheless, still a great song for me. 🤘🦊

I don't care equally for all BM songs, but you guys pick the weirdest ones to dislike LOL :) (Again, the No Rain, No Rainbow version you watched was probably the worst performance of it. The kamis didn't seem super comfortable with the song yet, and Su kind of laid an egg-- which she admitted to later) I love Arkadia, but I do agree that Starlight and Shine are better. There is one BM song I can't stand (sadly it's probably the most catchy song they have too lol) (BBAB) And there's a few that I think are very overrated. I'm personally not too enthralled by so many of the "fun" fan-favorite songs they do at almost every concert. But all-in-all they have a great catalog, especially for the 21st Century when no one seems to know what music is anymore. I forgot to mention, there's a lot of songs, not just by BM, but by everyone, that I hate the first time and grow to love, too.

I think what sets BABYMETAL apart from other artists is that it would be more like BABYMETAL to end with a positive, energetic song that mourns the loss, accepts it, and then rebuilds and moves forward into the future. Wouldn't it be considered too obvious and stereotypical to end the trilogy of light in an emotional way? I know it's a personal preference, but...😅

Judging things out of context leads to a disappointing reaction like yours. You have never bothered with the lyrics from "The Trilogy of Lights", so I doubt that you know what each song is about and why it is in the style that it is. Harsh judgment without understanding is weak-minded. You should have watched all three right in a row, with subtitles, then maybe you would get it... maybe not...
