This man is ABSOLUTELY GIFT .. SO AMAZING!!! IM GLAD YALL GOT TO 1 OF MY SONGS NOW WHEN YOU DO FLY AGAIN.. ITS FOR ME AND MY BROTHER.THAT DIED OF CANCER AT 50 3 YEARS AGO.. . I JUST FOUND OUT DEC. 8TH.. I HAVE BLADDER CANCER.. I DONT KNOW HOW EXTENSIVE BUT I TOLD MY HUSBAND TO PROMISE ME THIS SONG WOULD BE PLAYED AT MY CELEBRATION OF LIFE.. BECAUSE .. WE.. I’ve seen him dozens of times in concert and with the Gaither Vocal Band and you are just amazed by how blessed you feel just listening to him! He truly feels when he is singing for the Lord ❤

David sings the Bible, he sings the Word. Amen I agree with you, David is a God given blessing to this earth, just when we are needing him most. God is always on time, He has David right where He wants him. I thank God for the blessings He has bestowed on David and I am so blessed to hear him sing. When he sings it touches your soul and I feel the Lord Jesus. David's singing makes my spritual hormones bubble. May God bless your Ministry. Thanks for sharing.

Love you two. I think you will really like a song he sings with his daughter, “Water”. Also David wrote a song before his daughter was born that he put away waiting for just the right person to sing. The name is “He’s Still My Child” Maggie Beth is her name and it is just beautiful.

David Phelps is a master of vocal dynamics! He knows exactly how to achieve the sound and emotion necessary for any genre! This is from The Gather Vocal Band Pure and Simple album. It's an amazing album, of course. The excellent background harmonies are from long time recording artist Michael English and tenor Wes Hampton. He took Vocal Training at Baylor University in Texas. His family are very musically centered and his children are very much centered in it also.

You cracked me up with that subscribe percentage pop up. I was one of the 83%, but subbed for you guys. David is incredible. As far as the mic trick he does, he does it both ways--physically with his voice and also where he just uses the distance with the mic. It just depends on what he's going for in each situation. There are even times when in acapella with others where he'll stand further away from the mic because he knows for the note he's about to hit, he has to use a lot of power and doesn't want to blow away the other vocalists. He really is a master at his voice and using the microphone. I love it when he hits some awesome note when the music cuts out and they put on an echo, and the echo fades out... brings chills. You gotta see him live in concert. It's unreal.

Yes, David is classically trained. He was even invited by New York Vocal Coaching to do a series of sessions, about 9, on various vocal techniques!

Your story about going all the way around the tent to try and find a way in reminded me of another Biblical truth. It is written that he is last shall be first. Years ago, my wife, niece and I travelled from Pawtucket or Providence, Rhode Island to the Worchester Centrum to go to a Gaither Homecoming Concert. The traffic was brutal getting there, but we made it. By thevtime we got in the line to get in, we were more than 3/4's of the way around the building. We figured the Concert 6:10 would be starting by the time we got in. Then all of a sudden they opened the back doors to lett people that had tickets in. So you seee, the last will be first and we proclaimed it to they joy of a bunch of Amens

David is a man blessed to be able to be successful in various styles of musical expressions. He is anointed in each style. He is unbelievable in live concerts. You would be blessed if you could attend one of his barn bashes inTN.

As far as I know he has never formally taught vocal lessons. He did start his 4 kids out singing. They would all sing in the car, especially on the way to church, he would start a song and each child would jsut grab a part and sing a long. but eventually a couple of them went to a professional vocal coach. His two daughters sang back up for him for years. Now the oldest daughter still sings back up.
