I was just going to recommend Elvis's version I love it too I love Frank's original and I've got his album but I love the way Elvis does it too and you know what I think when Elvis does the song is that totally encapsulates everything about him from the time he was born till the time he came out and started singing his mannerisms the way he's everything about him that people didn't like He still did it his way and I think that's why I like his version so much....

Frank is definitely an icon but in fact Bing Crosby was the first “superstar” with crossover into movies and other entertainment businesses. It’s funny because most people don’t realize how extraordinarily popular & famous he was worldwide. 💜💜💜

Frank’s voice is sublime! Back in the 60s Frank was a member of this somewhat controversial group called the Rat Pack. This group of friends included, Frank, Sammy Davis, Junior, Dean, Martin, and others. They were known for womanizing, partying, and performing on the Las Vegas trip. Those were the days! Also, Frank was known to stick up for Sammy when there was racial tension about Sammy performing at some of the clubs. 💝

We saw Frank live in the early eighties. Way past his prime and supported by The Buddy Rich Orchestra. Two legends in one concert. There were sections of the show when his voice was just tremendous. Stunning as a matter of fact. A fabulous talent and a national treasure.

Saw him in concert, in the '80s. It was actually the idea of my friend Tim, who looked nothing like the typical Sinatra fan, with his teased up, jet-black hair and his ultratall, ultrathin frame. But like me, Tim had broad musical tastes, and we figured this was our last chance to see him. We picked up great seats from a scalper for $26 bucks each. The show was great, but I think my favorite part was seeing the response from those in neighboring seats. One elegantly dressed woman said, "I'm surprised to see you at a show like this." He smiled and said, "Man, Frank's the bomb!" 😏

The fact Sinatra sold 150,000 million records shocked you because today that number may be “common” but today it is much more accessible and ten year olds download music. Back in the day to purchase an album was a choice you made financially and you had to consider other things in your life. To have a huge collection took years and you had to have some means of financing putting together a collection. Again, today is not the same when purchasing music. I know that may not have been the same for everyone but I know my grandparents were proud of their albums and kept them in pristine condition because of how hard they worked to collect them. I was lucky enough to have been the grandchild they left them to because we always listened to the same type of music and I loved their stories about the time the Music took them back to. That being said, my daughter now has the collection and knows my grandparents through the same music all while never having met them. Music has that affect and this music in particular does it for me.

My Way was Sinatra's signature song. My mother loved this song so much that I made sure it was played at her funeral wake in 2023, even though my sisters did not share her fondness for it. I knew it was what she would have wanted. Frank Sinatra was widely known not just for his voice, but for his unique vocal phrasing. That particular talent has to this day, never been replicated. His popularity as a musical artist and also as a member of The Rat Pack, comprised of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr, in Las Vegas's heyday is legendary. He was truly one of a kind.

Thanks for doing this. My parents were young adults at the onset of WWII, and Sinatra was my mom's absolute favorite. I grew up with the likes of Sinatra and big band music as a kid, although I can't say I appreciated it back then. Of course that has all changed as I've grown older, and I have great appreciation for it all now. Another great one to look into would be "It Was a Very Good Year". My personal favorite of his. Thanks again.

Fly Me To The Moon by Frank with The Count Basie Band, arranged by Quincy Jones, from 1964, is swinging perfection!! All Or Nothing At All by The Harry James Orchestra featuring Frank Sinatra, from 1939, is Frank's first recorded hit record. Star power IS evident!!! I've Got The World On A String is one of my favorites of Frank's. 1953 original marks the beginning of his incredibly wonderful body of work with arranger Nelson Riddle. The magic is clear!! Long and extraordinarily entertaining catalogue of songs to hear!! A rabbit hole everyone should explore!!!

My Daddy raised me on Frankie and my Mama raised me on Elvis.. this song to me hits more home with Elvis because it was Elvis' life story. know my Aunt Barbara loved some Frankie as a crooner back in the 40's.. My mama was more 50's with Elvis. I grew up Hair Band era.. I'm 80's.. lol .. but Frankie was the Chairman of the Board and Old Blue Eyes. Check out the Rat Pack.. Frank, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin, Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford.. still great music .. As a black man you should know that Frank Sinatra.. one of the biggest stars back in the day.. (just like Elvis).. refused to to go to an event when they wouldn't let Sammy Davis Jr. come in.. Elvis refused to perform when they said his backup singers couldn't stay in the same hotel. I know it was a different time but I give these men some props for standing up against racial inequality in those times

a journey into Frank Sinatra's music legacy will be a long one. Such a smooth voice, breath and tone control unmatched. Please keep in mind that his was an era Before auto-tune, and live concerts also had no auto tune available. His studio recordings for production were done without auto tune, so what you hear on a vinyl or CD are his voice - unlike today when many singers record their songs, then the recording is run through for auto tune before it is actually made available for the public. And when he increases vocal volume volume , tone and pitch control remain smooth as silk and clear without distortions. Hands down: the Best male singer - ever!

They don't make them like they used to. Frank Sinatra was such a smooth crooner. This is before auto tuning. Artists had to be really able to sing. And the lyrics were clean, romantic & really meant something. He has a huge library of great songs. Some of my favorites are "Fly Me To The Moon", "New York, New York", "Strangers In The Night", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "That's Life", "My Kind Of Town", "Summer Wind" etc. And he did a duet with his daughter Nancy called "Something Stupid" in 1967.

'Bobby sockers' are the kids of the 50's. Think 'Happy Days' TV show or the movie 'Grease'. A couple other great Sinatra tunes are 'The lady is a tramp' & 'That's life'. He was my mom's idol when she was a teen. LOL There is a very fun performance on his TV show, with Elvis, fresh from the Army. They sing together, but each other's songs & it's a fun performance. The only thing wrong with it is that it is far too short.

The Bobby Soxers swarmed the young Frank Sinatra. Lisztmania in the 1800’s was a precursor to Frankmania and later we had Beatlemania. His true singing voice, smooth and silky as a young man was very different than his later voice - spectacular in my opinion. I love his early recordings. His voice broke in the early 50’s due to abuse. Drinking, smoking, hard living, so he changed his approach entirely and though technically he wasn’t as good a singer, you noted the talking style, his timing and style were so impeccable it made up for the loss.

Bing Crosby was the first person to use the modern microphone to invent an intimate, personal way of presenting a song. Before that, singers had to belt it out. Bing Crosby was the first crooner. Very smooth, very cool, very casual, very hip. And yes, you must do the Sid Vicious version' of "My Way". I may love it even more than Frank Sinatra's. Him singing that song is the final minutes of the classic film "Sid and Nancy." Great film.

Also, as far as Paul Anka goes, he has written hundreds of songs but the fact that he gave this song to Frank is great. Paul was a star in his own right. I know he was doing less performing at that time, but he could have kept that song for himself. The very first 45 rpm record I bought for myself, at age 12 or 13 (1962 or 63) 20:21 20:21 , was by Paul Anka. He was a teenage "hunk" back then and me and lots of millions of young girls were in love with him! And, if you you wanna know why, just check out Paul singing "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" and see for yourself. Trust me -- you're gonna like it! There are vids on YT of live performances of that with screaming girls -- sadly, I am not in that crowd. BooHoo! Pick the one that says 2021 on it. I'm sure that's when it was posted. The video quality is not as good but it shows him interacting with the audience. And, oh, did he know just how cute he was? Oh, YEAH! 😂😅 Check him out. We'll be clicking on that, too. 💯 ❤

Curiously enough many years later, pavarotti would do a special concert where by he and other professional opera singers sang this song. If you want the full orchestral experience this version is a major must watch. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tezDcWcqOog.html

There are more popular songs, but unlike any other, screwing this one up in Karaoke has the highest likelihood of any song to start a brawl -- and the highest likelihood to get you flat killed, especially in SE Asia.

By NO MEANS Frank’s best song, but I guess his most famous one. That and New York, New York. IMO his peak is the 1950s and the Capitol years - so swinging in the way only Sinatra can do and the ballads will break your heart. This song doesn’t use his talents in the best way. It’s become an anthem and it’s just not singular the way so many of his recordings are.
