The crowd loves this song and always sings it along with and to Freddie. The album version is much more formal with a lot more instruments, including an upright bass and even Brian playing a harp, impossible to reproduce live, but Freddie wanted to be able to do the song live so he asked Brian to create a version that could be. This is what Brian came up with, just him on a 12 string and the crowd singing along with Freddie. Everywhere in the world when Queen performs/performed, the audience always knew and sang along with this song. Wembley was sold out so the crowd was at least 72,000 people. Thank you for your reactions.
Freddie accidentally broke a mic stand when he first joined the band and he just said ..to hell with the stand ..I will use it like this..and he did..I miss him so damned much..he sang the Show MUST Go On after becoming ill , and he did it in one take ..listen to The Show MUST Go On..and hear how he hits the high notes with no effort..the cat had a voice ..and he had a big ❤️..
There are several different live versions of this. All are beautiful in their own way. Rock in Rio 250k people singing along with Freddie Rock Montreal has no real crowd participation, just Freddie and Brian and it is stunning Then there is the studio version with Freddie doing all of the intricate harmonies himself, incredible. Enjoy
It's not a cut off mic, it was a happy accident way back when the group first started in 1970 the mic stand broke instead of waiting for another Fred just kept singing so it stayed with him
Thank you very much for the reaction, this song touched fans all over the world, the performance I was referring to when I spoke about the audience was this song at Rock In Rio, which had one of the largest paying audiences in history (250,000-500,000), This song and the interaction with the audience is also beautiful at Wembley, but if you want to see a crazy audience, please also check out the performance at Rock in Rio, it's incredible, especially considering that the audience didn't speak English as their language. Hugs from Brazil 🇧🇷❤️
The microphone story is that early on in their career Freddie’s mic stand broke during a performance and he just kept on using it and he preferred the freedom of movement so he kept using it
Regarding the microphone, as far as we know, Freddie started when during a performance he couldn't adjust it and accidentally ripped it off the floor with the base 😆, he ended up getting used to using it like that and if you watch more Queen videos you'll notice that Freddie always uses it in his performances in some way, it matches his theatrical style
Ah, Freddie. Why did you leave us? 💔 This is a love song from the band to audience and from the audience back to the band. It makes me tear up every freaking time, especially since he left us. There is something so powerful about thousands of voices coming together. Magic.
Hey guys, you mentioned wanting to learn the saxophone and drums...there are 2 video you would probably really love for great solos in each of these instruments. For the drums, it's the Neil Peart Ultimate Drum Solo Live from Frankfurt, Germany (he was with the band Rush - he passed away on January 7, 2020 of brain cancer.) It is an AWESOME performance! Also, there is a GREAT saxophone solo in the Billy Joel New York State of Mind (Old Grey Whistle Test) video - not to mention, of course, virtuoso piano playing by Billy Joel. This performance here, with Queen is INSANE. NOBODY could control a crowd like Freddy!! I remember this concert - the main concerts took place in London and Philadelphia (I lived in Philly) - with other concerts going on in different countries at the same time, all to raise money for famine in Ethiopia. I was not inside the stadium for the Philly concert, but you could hear the roar of the crowd! Queen performed in London. It is speculated that Freddy wrote this for who he considered the "love of his life," Mary Austin, his girlfriend at the time.
To be fair, I think, as an older generation member, you need us to request some truly great songs that younger generations, like yourselves, have no clue about. Queen songs alone will keep you going for quite a while. I'm subscribed, so I'm looking forward to your new reactions
New sub here for the Queen reactions. Check out the version of this song live in Montreal 1981. Its amazing and you can hear all the words from Freddie’s amazing mouth!! Ty for the reaction!!
I was at the next venue for this tour, Knebworth in Hertfordshire, UK. 250k people. This was to be his last live performance as the early effects from AIDS were making him too tired to keep the level of performance he wanted to give.
Nearly 32 years after Freddie’s death, he’s still considered the best rock vocalist on the planet! Freddie penned this song about his long-time friend & former fiancée Mary Austin!! IMO .. the song wa written from Mary’s perspective! For me, the only way the lyrics make sense! Anyway, Freddie & Mary’s romance ended but they remained an integral part of each other’s lives! Freddie referred to Mary as his common-law wife!! ❤

Just heard you like saxophone! Most obvious one to listen to, and greatly enjoy, is Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty. Baker Street is major road in London, and home to the great fictional Sherlock Holmes!
Older songs, check out Gregory Abbott, Shake You Down. John Secada, Just Another Day. Levert, Baby Hold On To Me. Freddie Jackson, Rock Me Tonight. Johnny Gill, My, My, My. James Ingram, Just Once. PM Dawn, I'd Die Without You
