She died two years ago, aged 80. Her daughter is a very successful film director. Marie Laforêt was an incredible actress, too. She played alongside Alain Delon in Plein Soleil by René Clément in 1960 - the French film version of The Talented Mr Ripley by Patricia Highsmith.
@@OptLab :-) Alain Delon is the best French actor. He is the last tiger of his generation. In Japan , he is considered like God. Alain is 85 years old . . .
Marie Laforêt was known as one of the most beautiful women in the world from the 60s to the 80s (and even after in my opinion ..). Her eyes were even prettier than what the video shows ..... her nickname was "The Girl with the Golden Eyes" ...
Oh Dereck you surprise me. I did not expect at all a reaction on this performance which I adore and which touches me enormously. Marie Laforêt is a wonderful singer and performer. Un grand Merci 😘
I never thought you would react to Marie Laforet. If you start with her... you'll never end. She sings in all languages. And her voice is incredible. Unbelievable. I put a like before I watched the video. I am confident.
Come, come, it's a prayer Come, come, not for me, my father Come, come, come back for my mother Come, come, she's dying to see you Come, come, so everything may start again Come, come, without you life Come, come, is nothing but a long silence Come, come, which never ends I know very well that this girl is pretty That for her, you're forgetting your own family I'm not here to judge you But to bring you back I heard that her love has taken hold of your soul Do you think it's worth the love of your wife? Who shares your fate Without ever letting go of your hand Come, come, mother in September Come, come, painted the bedroom Come, come, just like before Come, com, you slept there Come, come, it's a prayer Come, come, mot for me, my father Come, come, come back for my mother Come, come, she's dying to see you Did you know that Jean started school? He knows the alphabet already, he's funny When he pretends he's smoking He really looks like you Come, come, it's a prayer Come, come, you're smiling, my father Come, come, you'll see that my mother Come, come. Is more beautiful than before Than before, than before, than before, than before Come, come, don't say anything, my father Come, come, kiss me, my father Come, come, you're handsome, my father Come, come, lala lala Come, come, lalalalala
What for a surprise Dereck ! My favourite French singer. In my opinion Marie Laforêt is one of the best French song performer 😊 Pure Emotional : thanks a lot for this reaction 😍
A marvelous song from a marvelous artist (la fille aux yeux d'or). The song is about a little girl begging her father to "come back" to his wife (her mother) "Cadeau" is also a very moving song from her (a mother singing to her little son, i doubt any sensitive man can help from crying when listening to this one). You may be interested to know she's one of Mylène Farmer's idols.
She was a fabulous artist and actress, she passed away fiew yours again. Mylene Farmer was admirating her so much that she covered "Je voudrais tant que tu comprenne" as her last song for Mylene's first tour En concert 1989 ( that you have to react too this please, one of the most emotional live performance of Mylene ....). Marie Laforet was fan of Mylene too, so that she wanted to thank Mylene by covering almost 10 years later Mylene's famous "Ainsi soit je...." but Marie had to cancel this project cos she wasn't feeling as confortable enough in order to find the way she could perform a Mylène's song as well as she would do....... For Marie Laforet, you can easily react to "Il a neigé sur yesterday"...... I can't still have goose bumps after having listen this reaction and feeling you emotion. Merci Dereck, thank you so much....Good music is amazingly universal
Please Dereck, could you make a double reaction for "Je voudrais tant que tu comprennes", first the original by Marie Laforêt, then Mylene's Live Cover, the outro of her first tour "En concert 1989" you could easily find in the amazing channel "Confidential Remastered", but you have to read the translation in English to understand this amazing emotion..... It may be a wonderful reaction for all generation around this song from Marie to Mylène...... French poetry at its best, thank you in advance
Dereck, the translation for "Viens, viens" is Come, come. So nice to see a great person like you be touched by this. Thumbs up, defintely, for your reaction.

Marie Laforêt was a talented singer and actress and the most beautiful woman in the world. We loved her in the movie: ''Le dernier amant romantique.'' and the song was so pretty.
A very famous and beautiful actress, also a singer who nailed every song she has sung. She was also a sex symbol and a very smart and funny woman. In some others songs, she sing much as in this one where she's begging and crying. But her voice is always the same : deep and charming
Crazy, ultra-learned, sarcastic, super talented in everything she does, she probably had a roller coaster career because of her whimsical and uncompromising character. This song is a real gem, even if it has often been mocked (with talent for that matter)
This song was playing on radio in Europe for years. I have heard it a million times, and saw this video many times as well. And I still cry every time. Heck, she makes herself cry every time she sings it (many recordings of her on RU-vid). But one need not see her, or even understand the lyrics in order to hear the emotion and cry along.
She was nicknamed "The Girl with the Golden Eyes". She also had this "je ne sais quoi", this very special personality in the world of showbiz which made her incomparable and very popular with the public. This mixture of spontaneity, frankness and at the same time class made her very "French" abroad, a kind of symbol, a bit like Françoise Hardy at the same period or today Marion Cotillard. She also made a career in cinema and worked with the greatest directors and actors of her time. A true good idea to react on this so moving song. Thanks to the person who has suggest you to react on it!
my favorite song from this huge artist I have listened to it hundreds of times she was called the woman with golden eyes, great artist also in cinema and theater
She was a great actress too. Her nicknam in France was the "golden eye's girl", so so pretty. Unfortunately she was quite crazy at the end of her life. Viens, Viens is one of this song each time I hear it that gives me chills, for different reasons but also of course because of her breaking voice (the lyrics gave me also bad souvenirs about my own dad who was not really the best with my mom in a part of his life) By the way It's a french adaptation, the original song is "Rain, rain, rain" by Simon Butterfly.
@@thebeestwin your point of view. Mine is that she had probably some poeple not really good around her (her husband for example), but she was fully paranoid, and it was so sad to see her like this.

Lots of emotion listening to her voice and lots of admiration for this talented woman as a singer and theater and cinema actress. Not to mention she was full of humor also in life in parallel with the emotion she could deliver... Thx Dereck !
Thanks so much Dereck for this beautiful song 🎼👍 She's feeling the song not only singing. Like another French singers ( Dalida or Lara Fabian) she's beautiful
Waouw Dereck 111k abonnés, you must be an Angel (thanks Eurythmics😉 Marie Laforêt great artist with very nice lyrics talking about the true life and its up and down. Yes smocky voice, and acted in several movies. Please let me propose you this title very very emotional : "Cadeau". Full of beauty. Thanks Dereck 😌 💚👋💚
So glad you discovered Marie (and love her)! Been grateful to have seen her on stage, love this lady so much, wonderful singer and actress..really beautiful too..
hi !! as you have specified, she put her singing career on hold to turn to cinema. as you noticed she has eyes ... and one of her best replicas is "this is the first time he's made sparks with his ...... (censorship lol)
Listen to Marie Laforet's "El Cabrestero" (one of her best, with spanish folk music influence). And to emotionally piercing "Pourquoi les hommes pleurent". Another gem is her rendition of "Sur le chemin des Andes" (famous peruvian folk song). She's iconic french chanteuse (famous in 1960s and ealry 70s). True artist. One of the best female singers, imho. Her singing (predominantly, 1960s period) was influenced a lot by folk music - you can hear echoes of roman, iberian antiquity in many of her songs like "Cicerenella" or "La Berceuse", for example. She has some well-known french pop songs too like Mon Amour Mon Ami, Manchester et Liverpool, Ivan, Boris et moi. She did some covers as well - Sounds of Silence by Simon, Garfunkel, Paint it black by Rolling Stones. I like very much her cover of Moody Blues "Nights in white satin". I'd recommend as well another iconic french chanteuse from 1960s Francoise Hardy.
i follow MARIE LAFORET carreer since i had 11 years old, I meet her in 2009. Marie douceur marie colère is a very good cover of "paint it black" of rolling stone
Dereck, you have the feeling of having already heard this song because the sound brings up a buried memory of your previous reincarnation in France in the 70s 🤔🔮😉🇫🇷😘
Amazing personality she was , I loved listening to her on tv . Mylène Farmer took a song of her « je voudrais tant que tu comprennes ...´ she passed away 2 years ago . Emotional . She has had a huge career singer and actress . All her songs are as emotional . « la tendresse « very emotional childhood momentum.
One of her emotional song was " cadeau" I really love this song.A mother who does the accounts to her son! and everything she has done is a gift when he ask money just for tidying is room ^^
She was begging her father to leave his mistress … telling him that life was hell since he left, that her mum was dying of sadness, she was not understanding why he would left her mum who shared her life / destiny with him. She said her brother started school and that everyday he looked more and more like him .. that she won’t judge him, that she just begs for him to come back to his family where he left a whole ….
a very great performer !! a very good underrated actress. His songs are all beautiful! her voice is sublime. A beautiful woman nicknamed 'the girl with the golden eyes' (la fille aux yeux d'or)
