Hell yeah, I can't wait for this one! I highly recommend checking out "Ashes In Your Mouth" from this same album, I think it's one of the best songs Megadeth has ever made. Or "Cèlébutante" from the new album, I loved the new album and I think it's the best album Megadeth has put out since Endgame (2008). I'm looking forward to this one! 🤘🤘🤙🤙

Ashes In Your Mouth is crazy, to this day, one of my all time faves. Megadeth knows how to close an album, another that comes to mind is Victory.

I can't WAIT for this one. Sweating Bullets is another great one by Megadeth. They have many though. They have two or three albums that are just complete FIRE, all the way thru. Some not so much, imo. But this song is so good and am looking so much forward to this.

The mix on this album is super clean. Every part is super heavy and legible, which is a rarity in any metal era. Architecture Of Agression is one of my favorites for Marty's solo and the riffage.

I remember being so excited when this album came out. Symphony of Destruction, Tornado of Souls, Countdown to Extinction, and all the rest. The punchy drums, the crunchy guitar riffs, Dave's voice being somewhere between a growl and a sneer; and the foresightedness of the lyrics. A slightly different interpretation of the lyrics to this one is that the "Symphony of Destruction" is the cultural, rather than political, mainstream. The absence of compassion, the "greed is good" neoliberal philosophy, all while regulations intended to protect people and the planet get ignored or removed. The whole album is outstanding.

Tornado of souls is epic guitars, Peace Sells has an iconic baseline to start off the song with, The Conjuring is a metal song with some jazz influences that is just a masterpiece, Devil’s Island is an underrated great song, an evil darker Halloweenish song is Good Morning Black Friday, an unforgettable live performance She wolf live Rude Awakening video dueling guitars and incredible drums that you won’t forget, Into the lungs of hell is just an insane instrumental!!! In my darkest hour is just a masterpiece

If you remember there being a VH1 mtv channel then you may know of Behind the Music show. One episode on the album Countdown to Extinction. It reached #2 on the charts behind Metallica's black album. This is from that album. His commentary was that you could take an ape, give it a 💩 ans a a have, put it in a suit and get it elected. Helps to know Dave is widely read on the enlightenment philosophers. His lyrics are real deep and thoughtful. Layered over terrific hooks. As for them and why I mention BTM was as he explained when he got stuck writing music he went out back of the studio to shoot hoops. The beat is the same frequency as the bouncing ball. You will see that when you listen to the song now. His point about being aware of what is actually happening and thinking for yourself. Now what you do about is up to you.

Saw them on this tour in a small indoor soccer field with a then little known band (Stone Temple Pilots). This song is the only time I ever saw an entire audience "liquify". 😅 the whole audience was thrashing to it.

To quote Dave the message behind the music is: That they could take a chimp, give it a suit, a sh*t, and a shave and get it elected. The album went out in 1992. Papy Bush lost to Bill Clinton that year. I turned 16. Was downhill with every officeholder after Reagan until the last guy. Brief pause in the failures. Anyways, Dave has studied the enlightenment philosophers. So very well read and has many insights. Now that does not make him right. It does not make him wrong either. What they offer is an outlet for frustration and anger. Plus the message. I also own the 20th anniversary live album. They play a few favourites then play the entire album front to back in one go. I highly recomend getting a copy. This album debuted at #2 in the rock charts. Right behind Metallica's black album. For those who want to feel AND think, here is your band. Live on tour in the US right now.

Megadeth is the band I've seen in concert the most. I true story before the digital age we live in with MP3s and cloud services and so on I wore out 3 cassette tapes and two CDs of this album. I was obsessed with the Countdown to Extinction album and listened to it from start to finish at least once a day for years. I once even saw Megadeth play the entire album in concert and it was glorious! But this song is just as great now as it was when it came out. I remember it being featured positively on early episodes of Beavis and Butthead with them going crazy over it. A metal masterpiece!

Aileen if you can you should watch their live show That One Night In Buenos Aires. When you see the size of the crowd you will trip. Looks like the entire country of Argentina came out for that show & that crowd gets into the music big time.

I never really thought about the true meaning of the song. Music for me has always been about musicality and emotion. But your read of the songs lyrics and supposedly the songs implication is a pretty creative way to frame the unfortunate constant of reality that power not only attracts those willing to abuse it, but the system itself is such a large and tangled web of bureaucracy that its basically impervious to reform.
