One of the most influential bands of the late 70's. Great production. Check out "Give A Little Bit," The Logical Song," and "Take The Long Way Home."

Ah, welcome to the upper levels of music production! You really can't go wrong with Supertramp, any of the "Breakfast in America" or "Crime of the Century" tracks is good if not top notch. "The Logical Song" is a must.

First ☝🏻 Supertramp was a great band in the 70's and early 80's. Too bad that the 2 leaders had to split.

Hello Dereck, Each time I listened to it with my walkman on the school path, I wanted the solo guitar to continue and not stop. So I think that's the perfect choice to start with Supertramp and go crescendo after. To follow, I suggest you *"From now on,"* to chain with them quietly but surely (A lot of good surprises all along the song, and for the final part, a lead bathroom singer like me can't help but sing, a classic. Lol). In all cases, thank you very much for this new reaction; I love Supertramp, one of my favorite bands of the 70-80s.

"Breakfast In America" was a huge album in the late 70s and went platinum. Supertramp's prior stuff is more progressive but they're a very original art-rock group with a lot of substance and flare. "The Logical Song" was released as the dual single to "Goodbye Stranger" and nothing short of a masterpiece.

Oui cela dit cette chanson est davantage une performance technique que mélodieuse. I suggest Dereck to listen to those from Supertramp "Take a long way home" "Gone Hollywood" and "Just another nervous wreck" Not really for review, rather for a learning enjoyable experience. Great songs for people not acustomed to rock.

Supertramp is maybe the latest of the british groups that arrived at the end of 70ies after, Caravan, Yes, Gentle Giant and many others that made by that time a very rich, diversified and talented music, often inspired by classic orchestrations. Another trunc was more rocky/jazzy like Soft Machine, King Crimson, David Allen, Kevin Ayers. I am surprised you didn't seem to know this song for me it is a "classical" but you can spend a bit of time listening to the groups I mentioned, you'll get surprised and discover a shunck of seventies brittpop.

If you want to take another listen to this song, there's a live in Paris video available on RU-vid. I think you will enjoy just who is doing what during this song. From the same concert you can listen to The Logical Song, and it is amazing how much of the band shuffles around to different instruments, and vocal roles in that one compared to this one.

glad for you that you're getting on this great brand 🤩. when you long time ago said you like keyboards this band immediately came to my mind. and you are right the more you listen the more it becomes hypnotic. i listened to this song first time as a child in an ice skating facility like 30 years ago and i still know what the next note of their solo is! every breath and rhythm of it. be prepared 🤓 as a sidenote, i have never tried to understand the lyrics, since English is not my mother tongue language it is very easy to switch off words meaning for my mind and only keep vocals as hummering. some lyrics meaning can destroy good music sometimes. on the other hand text based musics could be focused too much on meaning and the arrangement would be poor. anyway this band is having very great melodies and arrangements. as for lyrics meanings i have to say i'm little worried now to pay attention to them now 🤣

Oh! Look how clever the cover-art is, with that smiling waitress depicting the Statue of Liberty 🗽. Wonderful! Great band as well. How odd it is that the name of the band is truncated in the English subtitles. It look like YT doesn't like some other words than the infamous F-word.

Hi Dereck! Thanks for your react on Supertramp. Too bad, I thought we were going to see the CLIP when it does exist! I don't understand why your Patreon didn't see it on the site! M/V link : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9aykOwwRf-Q.html This song "Goodbye Stranger" was released in June 1979 as the third single from their sixth studio album "Breakfast In America" ranked no.9 in France in the charts. Even if it's an English "particulary and apart" band, the album and the song were recorded in Los Angeles, California! In this opus, there are 3 other great HITS : Breakfast In America, The Logical Song and Take The Long Way Home released the same year 1979. They even released a live album the same year recorded in Paris. In 1985, there is a song titled "Cannonball", nothing to see with The Breeders rock/grunge group with the same song in 1993. Thanks for your amazing job our American crony. 👍🇫🇷
