Hey guys, I really hope you all enjoy this video❤️ Please don't forget to subscribe! My social medias 👇🏼 INSTAGRAM: @amyjaneketley TIKTOK: @amyjaneketley TWITTER: @amyjaneketley I DO NOT own ANY of the music used in this video!!
Honestly that has to be the _best_ evil villain laugh I have _ever_ heard. Doesn't matter how many times I hear it, I instantly get chills and shivers down my spine. This song really does showcase how the internet went from this innocent "connecting people with similar interests together", to the crazy addictive, controlling nightmare-fest it is today _so_ incredibly well.
And it “Did all the things we designed it to do”… you are most likely holding your cage in the palm of your hand. It worked, there is no going home, the carnival is here to stay.
You're not too far off, but you slightly misunderstood the part about the mom letting you use the iPad. It's not that you used to just use it a little and now we use it a lot. It's that we use it a lot because we used to use it a little. That these devices like iPads are designed to be highly addictive. That's what he's saying by "it did all the things we designed it to do." The modern internet and these devices are designed to trap us all online, to make us live our lives on the internet. It didn't start that way. Back in the 90s the internet was something we used, but it didn't dominate the lives of the vast majority of those who used it. We'd get on and read a few message boards, maybe join a chat room for an hour here or there, but it was something you used an hour or two a day, maybe. Often much less. Now we're all online all the time. We're almost all addicted. Kids didn't even have a chance, their parents put them online from a young age and it literally rewires how their brains work. Those of us who didn't grow up on these modern devices have a hard enough time putting our devices down, but kids who use these devices from a young age don't even realize its strange, its just the way the world has always worked for them. Which of course was the goal. Bo here is playing the evil carnival barker of your nightmares as an manifestation of the internet itself.
I mean, you're right, but you missed the point as well. "It wasn't always like this"....there WERE no Ipads. Smart phones didn't exist. internet speeds were in kbps, not MBs+. The "it did all the things we designed it to do" is correct throughout its iterations to brainwash and pacify a population....but her core theory WAS wrong, just not in the way you said. XD
My favorite line is when he says “mommy let you use her iPad. You were barely 2. And it did all the things we designed it to do. Now look at you”. Because it sounds so sweet, the way he says it. But really what it was doing, was addicting that generation to screens. Access to them at such a young age created a dependency for “a little bit of everything all of the time”.
This devil persona of his should have been the villain in Ralph Breaks the Internet and this should've been his villain song. It does such good job showing EVERY aspect of the internet: increased connectivity, helpful tips, support, but also addiction, overexposure and a showcase of the more disgusting aspects of humanity that some didn't even know existed prior.
Yes, but she needs to at least have watched the songs referenced in that one first. Maybe doing Comedy and Goodbye in the same video would be good because they sort of make bookends of the special. But it would also be nice if she's heard Well Well Look Who's Inside Again first as well.
The "if the Internet had a Disney villain song" very well done. Love Bo. If you go older Bo to current Bo you see his progression as an artist and his mental state. The ones you've chosen to react to are great. I Also like "from God's perspective" , "country song", "art is dead" All his songs are funny but with deeper layers and meaning
Bo Burnham is levels ahead of most "comedians" you see today in my opinion. What makes him truly outstanding is his introspectiveness, which you haven't seen much of yet from the songs you have reacted to thus far. Also his ability to articulate is just next level. He is also a true musician because he does write all his music. This song was not exactly at the beginning of his special but the song Comedy was the first song of his special inside. It kind of gives a preface to the entire special.
Its hard for me just even to say that "comedy" is what he does. So... What the f he could be? Well, remove the fun part and we have a Philosopher on stage. ...Thats kinda weird too.
Awesome reaction!!! This song really does show off Bo’s talent as a both a word smith as well as a world builder. The more you watch of Bo’s work, you’ll find that even though his commentary has always been honest, he has refined his craft of expression repeatedly over the years. Loving the Bo reactions, keep ‘em comin!!! Cheers
I dunno if this is the way he intended it, but I took "here's a nine-year-old who died" as an anchor point between the ramp up and the darker part of the song. Mainly because it's couched between other silly shit like fantasy sports or whatever. It's like scrolling social media--because a child dying is one of the most devastating catastrophic moments in the lives of so many people connected to that child. And the song's pace makes it so we can't even focus on it. Like we almost forget he said it. Then it flips, where the majority is dark shit with a few little silly things thrown in. Pretty much nailed "the internet."
"...just nod or shake your head and we'll do the rest." is in my opinion such a clever way of describing the algorithmic way of the internet today. Say yes and you'll get more, say no and you'll get more of something else. There is no actual "no" it's just "not that", there will always be something else. You just keep sitting there and nod or shake your head, we will indeed take care of the rest 😈
Have to say I enjoy your reactions very much. They are short enough and you refrain from pausing the video every 15 seconds to break down how you interpret it. Bravo.
It's nice to see a younger reactor watch this and truly have no idea what Bo's talking about with how the internet was "circa 99" and now growing up with the internet as a big part of life since a baby with the new generation. It'll be fun to see this generation at 40 and 50.
It's really well crafted because it gives you the sense of going down an internet rabbit hole. It starts out pretty normal, but rapidly gets more and more extreme and radicalized. 100% modern villain.
Another great reaction vid! My recommendations: For more Bo Burnham: some of his slightly older stuff like Country Song, Repeat Stuff (the live version from "what"), or Art is Dead (the live version from The Green Room) For other good reaction vids: literally anything with Bill Burr
Hi there, here again! Still would love to see you react to Ren - Hi ren. I know I suggested the same one on your previous video too but, persistence right? :D
This man is a Genius! He will make you laugh and will make you feel guilty about laughing, but craving more. You should really check the entirety of Inside, and I also recommend watching From God's Perspective
Inside is very interesting because a lot of it doesn't really have the same immediate appeal his earlier stuff has, but it is way more cohesive than even the stuff he did earlier (and that is saying something). It is true art.... which is scary, because it is hard to top and may be his apex. I hope not of course... he has so much to offer.
There are some brilliant comedians out there like Daniel Tosh, Anthony Jeselnik, Bill Burr, Louic CK, Chris Rock, Ricky Garvise, and Jimmy Carr to name a few.
Most of the songs from Inside can be watched out of order except for Goodbye. Leave it to the ead as it is the last song in the special and you kinda need to have watched many of the previous songs to fully understand it. Apart from that watch the other songs in any order you like.
Hi Amy Jane - not sure if it's a jokey deliberate thing(?) but 'internet' is misspelled in your thumbnail and just in case not: I think it's possible to change that even after video is published? :) I agree he's talented. 'Art is Dead' is another awesome Bo Burnham song, by the way, but a bit older than his 'Inside' show.
I'm sure everyone is up for Bo, but if you want to mix it up you may want to check out one of Bo's inspirations, Tim Minchen. Prejudice If I Didn't Have You Inflatable You
If you do like comedic history in the form of music, I definitely recommend Pasadena 1994 by Nanowar of Steel. Not sure if you are a fan of European metal, but worth a listen.
Gott love Bo😂 , you should do reactions to TheDooo or Billy Wilkins ! Just beware cause they sing and joke with people on Omegle so some of the humor can be pretty crude haha 😂 but If you know what Omegle is you probably know that’s
Hi, Amy. Love the way you react naturally to our BO. May I suggest you to go deeper the Rabbit Hole and appreciate the musically theatrically genius mind of Tim Minchin.
This song is just for another audience. It's so much more worrysome for us, millenials and older, who actually remeber the old times... And Bo being a millenial himself...
To switch from Bo but stick with the comedy song theme. Check of Flight of the Conchords, I would recommend Hippopotamus vs the Rhymenocerous. The live version instead of the clip from their show
I'm sure you'd like to react to others, but I'd love to see your reaction to Bo Burnham's "how the world works" Other stuff to react to: Music: - NF (Story, how could you leave us, let you down) - Babymetal (Karate) - Half Alive (Did I make you up) - Twenty One Pilots (Car Radio) - Falling in Reverse (watch the world burn) Comedians: - Jim Gaffigan - Shayne Smith - Dry Bar Comedy - Robbing Wendy's with an Alligator - Sammy J and Randy - Ballad Other stuff: - Candy from around the world (or desserts) - Cheap food hacks (and trying them) - Comparing things of different quality / price - Things you are a fan of with new updates (movie trailers, new music releases, new books, clothes, makeup, etc.) The best is stuff you can provide interesting comments to, not just shock / laugh each time. Just my 2cents. Keep up the good work and keep building!
I just realized that him speaking about “Obama sent the immigrants to vaccinate your kids” Has to do with when Obama made domestic propaganda an international propaganda legislation
