This song was a hit for the Everly Brothers where it reached #7 on Billboard's Top 100 in 1960. Interesting tidbit is that the Sweet Inspirations (the back-up female singers for Elvis) also covered this song in 1967 and it peaked at #13 on Billboard's R&B chart (and #94 overall).
It was originally a French song but the English version was released by Jill Corey in 1957 but it is best known sung by the Everley brothers in 1960. Maybe you should try their version as well

Everly Brothers recorded it...but Elvis had a way interpreting a song that makes it stand out...My musician pal Joe Var Veri does an amazing acoustic version of the song...that even when I was playing loud in my work van while driving around Long Island...people would come up to me and say that’s a nice song., what’s the title or what’s the name of the artist.
