I have not heard a song from Forestella that I have not liked. They are a cross over group covering many genres and languages . So every performance is unique and surprising. From ballads, opera, jazz , pop, rock, Argentinian tango….they have done it all. I don’t know if there is another quartet like Forestella! Love them!
Their covers are crazy good. The name is Forest + Stella (“Star” in Latin). For covers I recommend “Legends Never Die” “Bad Romance” “Despacito” “Sound of Silence” “Shape of You”. Their original songs “Utopia” “Snow Globe” “Kool”. If you’re looking for a genre, you wont find one. They take that “Crossover” title seriously. They don’t shy away from any styles. However, as they have their own unique style, they won't be Korean il Divo, they will be the Forestella of the world! Forestella is a quartet of Ko WooRim (a classical bass, intense abyss-deep low tone), Kang HyungHo (an ex-research chemist, rock vocalist with soprano head voice falsetto), Cho MinGyu (a classical leggiero tenor, light boyish crystal clear tone) and Bae DooHoon (a musical actor, 159th King of the Masked Singers, emotion convincer good at R&B, Pop). Each has distinct tone and style of singing, different charm. But all of them are famous as practice-freaks. They meet almost everyday to practice together. In a radio program the leader (Cho MinGyu) revealed it would be around 20 days they didn't meet in the year. Bae DooHoon also said they don't meet 1~2 days in a month. Appreciated the honest reaction. ❤ My recommendation for a reaction is Time in a Bottle. Forestella refuses to be confined to one particular genre..so they dare to do the unexpected at times and inhabit many genres incl rock, pop, Korean traditional(gukak), ballad, jazz, trot, reggaeton, classic opera, rock opera, anthemic , K-pop, choral, and so on. They are not an acapella group, but they can do it gloriously live and impromptu when called upon. Another strength is singing in multiple languages for eg English, French, Spanish, Italian, Latin, Russian, Zulu, and of course Korean…sometimes 3 in one song.

I like Je Suis Malade for one and their cover of Despacito is where I started and I was hooked. They sing in multiple languages. Continue down the rabbit hole. I can PROMISE you, you'll never regret having a huge Forestella Playlist! As for the members, their usual lineup from left to right on screen is Ko Woorim, a classically trained basso profundo. Also at just turned 28, the youngest member. Next is Kang Hyung-ho, a natural countertenor/soprano vouce with no formal traing at all. Hes a freak of nature! 😆 Then, comes their leader, Cho Mingyu, a classically trained leggero tenor. Finally, Bae Dohoon, oldest member and a baritone/tenor with a crazy natural vibrato. I can assure you that ive been a vocal aficionado for 7 decades and im also very discerning and Forestella has never once disappointed. El cantante del que destacaste su mirada se llama Cho Mingyu. Canta un tango, Balada para un Loco. Es alucinante su interpretación. También te la recomiendo. Los otros íntegramente también tienen sus temas solistas. Sería muy muy muy larga la lista de recomendaciones. Tenés mucho material para ir explorando 😅
Forestella first sang their version of Bohemian Rhapsody in the KBS Immortal Songs which is a kind of remake competition music entertainment show. It made them known to the world, and later they put it in their 2nd album titled Mystique. They had concert tour under the title Mystique. This video was filmed at the Mystique encore concert, the last of the tour. I prefer their Immortal Songs video because we can see their acting in the performance better there. Here it's too dark to see it well.. I recommend Forestella Queen's best songs compilation video on KBS Jeonju channel. There are 2 more Queen renditions in addition to the very first performed Bohemian Rhapsody by Forestella.
They were individual competitors on a survival elimination show called "Phantom Singer" whose goal was to create a crossover vocal quartet like II Divo. They compete 1 v. 1, then the survivors move on to recruit for duos, then trios... and finally the Quartet. The guy 2nd from the right (Mingyu) won every round and that gave him the chance to recruit the others. Left to right Woorim - Classically trained Basso Profundo Hyungho - Rock Countertenor (zero training until he joined the group) Mingyu - Leader and Classically trained Leggiero Tenor (he and Woorim went to the same school) Doohoon - Musical Theater Actor, Baritenor They are lightning in a bottle. The show has turned out several great quartets, but none have the widespread appeal of Forestella. They continue to enter competitions, put out albums and even toured N. America last year. They intend to keep performing, but they are a man down for the next year+ as their Bass, Woorim, completes his Mandatory Military service. They have done everything from their original K-pop song, "Kool", to their new rock waltz, "Snow Globe" (which seems to be a fanciful retelling of them coming together as a team). They don't believe in genres and fear no style of song. Outstanding live performances to check out, Lazenca, Save Us (From the Space Rock Opera), Legends Never Die, Hijo de la Luna, Time in a Bottle, Je Suis Malade, Gondre Mandre (Dead Drunk), and Despacito. For an extra treat, check out Kang Hyungho's "Phantom of the Opera" audition (he sings both The Phantom and Christine's parts), or Cho Mingyu's "Balada de la Trompeta". All 4 members also have individual songs they have performed aside from the songs performed as Forestella. They also sing in multiple languages and there is even a song from Frozen that Cho Mingyu sings in 12 different languages.

They do sound good but I actually prefer MayTree who does better acapella and the Bass guy in their group is legit. BTW, one criticism on your channel is the volume balance. I could barely hear you speak so I have to put up the volume and then when you play the video, it blasts my eardrums. Not good for my ears or my neighbors.

Also, Forestella is not an acapella group as Gabe thought ..a crossover group instead…and their bass is as legit as you can get ..KO WOORIM, about 23 here, when this was done about 5yrs ago has a basso profundo voice (measured at e 1) and is a fully trained opera singer. They perform songs across all genres…very successfully. Plenty of information shared here in this section so I won’t duplicate…just wanted to add that using a deeper voice would not have worked in this song.
