The song was by the Easybeats…. Their version is great but different so implore you to check that out in your own time. They had links to AC/DC as Angus Young’s brother was in this band. Their songs to check out would be Friday on my mind and Sorry. INXS is pronounced “In Excess”, and they are one of my childhood favourites. Who wouldn’t love Michael RIP. They have made so much fabulous music and the musicianship in their sound is fire and just makes me want to dance. And to top that this music features Chrissie RIP from the Divinyls. There is a clip out there of Micheal and Chrissie being interviewed together, which is worth a watch. Then you have the irrefutable Jimmy, showing his pure rock grit…..He’s number 1 in my book.
This is a Vanda and Young song, they were the producers of album's by AC/DC, formed by George Young's younger brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Check out "Friday on My Mind" Vanda and Youngs 1960s band the Easybeat
Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel should have been as huge and international as INXS ! It’s a no brainer. First time I’ve come across Americans who don’t know how to pronounce INXS though 😆
Jimmy Barnes, INXS, and an awesome line-up of backup singers: Chrissy Amphlett from Divinyls, Chris Bailey from The Saints, David McComb from The Triffids and Sean Kelly from The Models.
@@MRDARKTURKEY Thanks for the fact check. I had seen other comments about this guy and because he looks similar to Richard Clapton, I had taken their word for the ID. I don't have any knowledge of Chris Bailey so I couldn't judge the identity correctly. I haven't followed the Saints at all. I guess before RU-vid, you only saw these people if they appeared on a TV show like "Countdown" or RockWiz etc.
In the beginning an ocean liner arrived in Australia...... I think it docked in Sydney. The large ship was full of 10 pound poms and their kids. As there was probably over a thousand families on that ship, most of the kids never met each other until after it docked in Sydney. These kids became about half of all of Australia’s rock and pop legends..... and even more arrived on different ships or different voyages. The Bee Gees The Easybeats AC / DC John Farnham Jimmy Barnes Billy Thorpe Olivia Newton John Little Pattie and younger cousin Chrissey Amphlett. and many more I can’t remember. Harry Wanda met George Young and 2 other kids after docking..... they became the Easybeats. After the Easybeats broke up Vanda and Young became Flash n’ the Pan and had a few US and world wide hits. They also wrote songs and produced for George’s 2 brothers, Malcolm and Angus. ( AC / DC )...... and Bon Scott who was also on that same dam boat as was the Easybeats singer, Stevie Wright. SO..... even though this concert was about 30 years later, it included at least 5 legends that arrived on that boat..... Jimmy Barnes Chrissy Amphlett The Easybeats Wouldn’t surprise me if all of INXS were also on it. lol
The guy with the smoke in mouth and waving his hands around , I believe was Chris Bailey. I think he died last year and seen some very old video clips of him with his band The Saints and his could not give a fuck attitude seemed to be his personality from the start of his musical career in his video clips. I did not really follow or know much about The Saints but when seen the old videos after he died it clear they were an early trend setter for what became the so called Punk genre. There looked to be a lot of people from different bands on stage and must have been final song for night and a bit of someone from all the bands that must have played that night. Looks around early to mid 80's era.
Love this song.. Jimmy and INXS (in excess) made great music video to this song as well. Michael and Jimmy loved each other and had so much respect for each other.. I remember Jimmy getting interviewed after Michael died and Jimmy was devastated… I was lucky enough to see these both live many times in Australia and loved them both..Michael was definitely a great front man.. there is so many legends in background of this clip
You probably already knew this but for anyone else who doesn't, Jimmy was actually born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1956 but immigrated to Oz as a kid with his parents. It was his older brother John’s interest in music that inspired Jimmy to follow suit, eventually leading to him becoming lead singer of Cold Chisel, who emerged as one of Australia’s most popular bands in the early ’80s. Awesome talent.
The guy doing jazz hands is the late great Chris Bailey from The Saint's. The Staints were early pioneers of punk, way before The Sex Pistols, The Clash or many other famous punk bands. It was really The Staints, The Stooges, The Ramones & Television that were the ground breakers. Check out The Staints "I'm Stranded".
Everyone on stage in this clip is the who’s who of Aussie music 🎶 there all artists Chrissy Amphlett, from the Divinyls is just one of them sings back up vocals
Yes, Jimmy Barnes has a great voice, but for me it's kind of like a one trick pony...he just goes for that same sound over and over again & it gets repetitive & boring. I do like them together, all of them were great friends. For me Michael just has more levels of expression with his incredible voice.
