@@thedemouchetsreact2.0 It is mich less controversial here and as far as I know only received any real backlash once it was released on steaming services to more international audiences fairly recently. You might also sense some "tension" in the air in some people's interactions with others, but I think you know when this was made and the context of that period in time; but in my view and in most South Africans as far as I know... Leon and his team did an amazing job at defusing some of that tension and bringing people together with their comedy. He also stated fairly early and there's only so many times you can disguise yourself as an old white guy... "We know what you look like Leon". I think he also speaks a little Zulu, so at some point you might see a white African man disguised as a black African man, speaking Zulu😐 To black people no less😂

Leon Schuster was the ultimate prankster... yes, he did "black face" and these days it's unacceptable .... back then all races wanted to get pranked by Leon Schuster.. but people forget that when he did all these pranks South Africa was in the height of apartheid...and he showed South Africans how racist people are... And people of colour love Leon Schuster... because we can laugh at ourselves through him. And he always included black and coloured people in his movies and pranks at a time when people preached separation.

I think when people are new to Leon and are watching in 2024 they will be offended ..., they dont know South Africans aren't offended ....because back in the day, he was seen to be on the other side of apartheid and that's why he is so loved by South Africans of all races... and he helped actors of colour become household names in SA. The man has numerous movies and thousands of pranks but "the Demouchets " were sent one clip where he is playing an Indian and Black man...i do hope to see Leon again on this channel...hopefully they get clips of him where is is playing a white man rather so they may not think he was always dressing up as people of colour
Leon Schuster the most SLAPPED comedian in South Africa... In his older movies he gets slapped about 5 or 6 times. He is also the Guy a lot of Americans wanted to cancel for wearing BLACKFACE and luckily Black South Africans stood up for him and told Black America to leave our man alone As he did not DO Blackface its totally different culturally and Leon has just about impersonated each and every race in South Africa from Englishmen to Afrikaners to Blacks to Indians nobody was exempt from his comedic genius and everyone loved him even during Apartheid.
