This is basically the emo Bohemian Rhapsody. The first piano note of the song is iconic and immediately recognizable. It will remain an anthem in this genre for decades to come.
@@TeaDrinker3000 Nah. As a big fan of both, I see more poeple singing along to this with all the words known. With JOS, a majority of people only know patches of words, if they know it at all.
hell, i'm a grown man who missed out on MCR in high school, and it still brings me to tears to this day. (wasted my teenage years listening to weird pretentious shit instead)
8 months till 60. Seen many concerts in my life. Hands down August 26th 2022 in Raleigh in the floor MCR was all time best. Walked out with that concert high and still have it in November.
This is not just a song, it's an Anthem! The Black Parade is a rock opera centering around the character of "The Patient". It is about his passage out of life and the memories he has of it. "The Patient" dies and death comes for him in the form of a parade. This is based on singer Gerard Way's notion of death appearing to a person in the form of their fondest memory, in this case seeing a marching band as a child
I’d also throw in I’m Not Okay, This Isn’t A Fashion Statement, It’s A Fucking Deathwish, Skylines And Turnstiles, The Sharpest Lives, Destroya, maybe even Save Yourself, I’ll Hold Them Back
Thank you - great reaction. Fun Fact - the lead singer (Gerard Way) wrote The Umbrella Academy (netflix massive hit). This was a massive "concept" album for the band and follow "The Patient" as he learns of his disease (Cancer) and his subsequent regrets and recalls from his life (including Teenagers !) Such a great album from start to end. Well worth a listen for all ages (even from a 50-yr old who is posting)
@@EricHitsDrums Incorrect. The actor in this video is Lukas Haas (Inception, The Revenant) and Elliot is Henry Thomas (The Haunting of Hill House, The Fall of the House of Usher).
This is such a classic song. It’s going to be one of those oldies our kids will probably know about much like how the old 80’s and 70’s hits were drilled into our heads at a young age 😂 The old 2000’s hits were amazing.
"Are you my Mummy?" Interestingly, that episode has kind of an optimism in the face of bleak horror that matches this song. "Just this once, everybody lives!"
When she sang "We'll carry on", it just hit me differently. To people who had emotional ties to this song, this ain't just a banger, GWay is our messiah.
Gerard nails the vocals live. Just saw them at Riot Fest in Chicago with 100,000 people singing along to every song. lol Great energy from start to finish. i walked away knowing I had just witnessed one of the greatest live bands of all-time.
I saw them in concert at least 4 times. Never disappointed. Also, angels and airwaves is a great band as well. Their lead singer Tom delonge was originally from Blink 182.
FUN FACT: The A&A logo is based off of the square and compus from Freemasonry FUN FACT #2: My father is a Mason and that makes Tom Delonge my dad's "brother" which makes Tom my uncle in a sorta way
AHH! i'm so excited to see that you're finally reacting to some MCR :D this song is such a classic, too! i think you should check out: Famous Last Words, The Ghost of You, and I'm Not Okay (I Promise)
Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part I won't explain or say I'm sorry I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scars Give a cheer for all the broken Listen here, because it's who we are Just a man, I'm not a hero Just a boy, who had to sing this song Just a man, I'm not a hero I don't care
If you check a video of this song live, check out the live version that features Brian May from Queen. It’s incredible! And also, you need to check out the band Blink-182. You’ll love them!
This is one of the main songs that inspired me to start learning piano lol been practicing for like 3 weeks now, but I have heard this song a long time ago I would recommend teenagers but you’ve already heard it that was my first song by them lol but for sure listen to these “I don’t love you”,”Helena”,”famous last words”,and “I’m not okay” another good one is “ghost of you” and “dead” “mama” as well
Just discovered your channel and I've been enjoying your reactions to some of my favorite songs. But you won my subscription for that Doctor Who reference (btw it was an episode from Christopher Eccleston's season)
just so you know teenagers is on the same album as this song, also from this album, check out Famous Last Words, the video is like a sequel to this one
The woman wearing the mask is Mother War - a personification of war itself- The Patient used to be a soldier and he recons with her and his actions as a soldier at the end of his life. So TECHnically that doctor who recall isn't unwarranted!
Yess try to react to something of their previous album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, it's a bit more punky but it's the best if you ask me I recommend the songs Helena and To the End
You should look up the full album to get the whole story. Because this is the ending of a sad and depressing story. Keeping things short: this is a rock opera, which it means that every song of the album is one part of the story, wich this is the gran finale to that story. BTW this is a story about a cancer patient that unfortunately(or fortunately it depends on the point of view of the things) perished to the illness
There's a cover version of this song that was dropped a week or two ago that I really love. Violet Orlandi, Lauren Babic, Halocene, and Audra Miller from First To Eleven did an incredible job with this. I really love if you would react to them.
The black parade is a concept album about a guy dying from cancer in a hospital. In the story, when you die you go into your favorite memory anthe character's favorite memory was when he was a kid, his dad took him to a parade.
Hey loved the reaction, honestly I haven't been watching much lately cause I haven't been interested in the bands you've been reacting to, and that's okay, other ppl like them and I still always check to see what you've reacted to when it shows you've posted something new, there's definatly more MCR you should react to and I think you would love The Used - I Caught Fire, I guarantee you'll love it, but either way, take care, cheers
So I know you really like Ronnie Radke and Falling in Reverse, and you might be familiar with his first band Escape the Fate... But here's how this all comes together! Ronnie and Escape the Fate actually won a battle of the bands contest hosted by... You guessed it ... My Chemical Romance! That's how Ronnie got his start! It's fun how it all comes together! Great reaction and I can't believe you hadn't heard this before!
One of the great Genre Hymns Rock: Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody Hard Rock: Guns 'N Roses - Rocket Queen Pop Punk: Green Day - Jesus of Suburbia Emo / Post-Hardcore: My Chemical Romance - Welcome to the Black Parade Folk Metal: Arkona - Na Moey Zemle
My favorite band of all time, glad you finally reacted. Helena, Ghost of You, Famous Last Words, I'm Not Okay are all great ones to start with, but really I could list off most of their songs as ones I would recommend. (Although I don't see you enjoying anything off their first album Bullets so I won't recommend those)
The reason the black parade is showing themselves as a parade is because "The Patient" who is dying, is having his happiest moment flash before his eyes before death. The Parade he went to with his father. The parade is ushering him to his death.
[Intro] When I was a young boy, my father Took me into the city to see a marching band He said, "Son, when you grow up, would you be The savior of the broken, the beaten, and the damned?" He said, "Will you defeat them, your demons And all the non-believers, the plans that they have made? Because one day, I'll leave you a phantom To lead you in the summer to join the black parade" When I was a young boy, my father Took me into the city to see a marching band He said, "Son, when you grow up, would you be The savior of the broken, the beaten, and the damned?" [Verse 1] Sometimes, I get the feeling she's watching over me And other times, I feel like I should go And through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets And when you're gone, we want you all to know [Chorus] We'll carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on, we'll carry on And in my heart, I can't contain it The anthem won't explain it [Verse 2] A world that sends you reeling from decimated dreams Your misery and hate will kill us all So paint it black and take it back, and let's shout it loud and clear Defiant to the end, we hear the call [Chorus] To carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on, we'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches [Bridge] On and on, we carry through the fears (Oh, ha, ha) Disappointed faces of your peers (Oh, ha, ha) Take a look at me, 'cause I could not care at all [Breakdown] Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part I won't explain or say I'm sorry I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scar And give a cheer for all the broken Listen here, because it's who we are Just a man, I'm not a hero Just a boy who had to sing this song Just a man, I'm not a hero I don't care [Chorus] We'll carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on, you'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches on [Outro] Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part (We'll carry on) Do or die, you'll never make me (We'll carry on) Because the world will never take my heart (We'll carry on) Go and try, you'll never break me (We'll carry) We want it all, we wanna play this part (We'll carry on)
