The mere fact that a Japanese group can garner worldwide attention by utilizing the resources and know-how of the Korean music market is a testament to the global competence and impact of the Korean music industry. In my opinion, that's more of a compliment, and the Korean economy also benefits from it.

@@TaiFei Exactly. If XG didn't train under Korean music producers, they'd be irrelevant. There is no Jpop music per se, that's got worldwide attention. Only the weeaboos and otakus would know about it. Kpop has a much wider reach....A piece of wood is only a piece of wood, unless a fine furniture maker can carve that wood into beautiful furniture. Paint, a paint brush, and and a canvas are just that, unless a master painter creates a beautiful painting out of them. Nobody cares about the raw materials, unless its final product can be greater than the sum of the parts.

Which is why XG members always show their gratitude to the staff and production crew, as well as to the Korean Alphaz who always show up to cheer for and support them, sometimes even getting really emotional about it (like Juria and Cocona have done for instance). But these haters are so blinded by jealousy and their anti-Japanese prejudice. They're so obsessed with hating on XG that they'll comment and rant on every vid involving them. Some are even very explicit with their xenophobia. They act like bullies, even body shaming the girls. It's not a good look for them or their country.

They aren’t based in Korea their company is in Japan and they’re just a global girl group that wants to appeal a “wide” audience

@@yejibro Pretty sure his logic is the same as mine. Yuehua is a Chinese company that put together their own kpop group, Everglow. Everglow is not promoting in China. On the other hand, XG is a group composed of Japanese members, XGALX is a sublabel of Avex Trax (the largest record label in Japan), they are promoting both in Japan and Korea. They recently bought a building in Korea so they have a place to stay, lets call it a branch office. If you look at their earlier videos they were borrowing YG's practice facilities and people thought YG had something to do with the group when they didn't. The best part is the Wikipedia entry that says they're based in Korea quotes an article from Naver that says they're a Japanese group promoting in Korea.

The word using might hurt knetz feelings let's use the word employing. Knetz make it seem as if they are exploiting people.

I think that XG is kpop in some way for many reasons: 1) Part of their training was in Korea2) They speak Korean, rap in korean besides japanese or english 3) They promote in Korea and perform in korean music shows like Inkigayo, the music show, etc 3) They are invited and participate in entertainment kpop idols shows 4) If they don't sing in korean is the less relative thing nowadays, funny thing that the most awarded song in korean music shows is Dynamite(which lyrics are full in english), Blackpink lyrics lately have more english than korean. Lisa is the most known kpop idol overseas but she is from Thailand and her singles are in english so isn't that ironic. Also not all the music in korean is consider as kpop, it's a matter of genre. I think the problem with XG is basically a bit of fear by some koreans as well music producers and executives, tbh they have strong reasons to feel that way, threatened by foreigners idols and they might be right cuz XG are way more talented than the majority of korean kpop groups. Besides all that I imagine that the intention of their agency is not to be classified only as kpop, they wanna be more something more than kpop. That's why their songs are full in english, to promote worldwide and may people be able to enjoy their music and lyrics. We don't have to be hypocrite to recognize that besides from Psy (whos lyrics only had a few english) the rest of the kpop groups gradually had to include more english in their songs or even have songs full in english (many exmaples like Girls Generation, BTS, Blackpink, etc) to get intgernational recognition. I see it logic, every group want to improve their career and not only to focused in the Korean, japanese or asian market in general. Billboard themselves consider XG as kpop at the time, they performed at LA KCON, even in SK kpop fans enjoy and dance at KRDP to their music. There you have enough reasons why they are part of KPOP, but I imagine the marketing strategy of them is to dominate various genres like R&B, pop, RAP like a lot of worldwide artist do. Also they sing in english because their goal are the Grammy Awards, if they achieve that they probably will go back to Korea or Japan as an acclaimed group and start performing in those languages

​​@@LnlNRs-rb4mt K-Pop or not K-Pop not exactly because their training in SK and mostly have activities in SK, yes they training with Korean idol system but if you listening their music is not K-Pop it's so different. And also the members have told that they're not K-Pop or J-Pop they're genre is X-Pop core music from R&B HipHop but they keep exploring that we can say their genre is unknown genre because they keep exploring the music with has no limit. And XG also mention they're new breed breaking the idol stereotypes and boundaries.

@@ariusbudiman7105 as you said Xpop is a fusion of kpop,jpop and many others genres. a tomato is not sweet but it doesn't erase the fact that is a fruit for example. You should listen to more kpop music cuz its way more different from how it used to be since Psy showed up. Actually that is a critic nowadays, cuz according to listeners it doesn't sound like kpop anymore, its more a like regular pop music just in korean, also the english is even more used than korean language on the lyrics. XG want to break the idol stereotypes is actually a good idea for the market, try to change the image of idols that the world have as cute little girls that dance. I hope they achieve every goal they have cuz they deserve it, they are way more talented than the average kpop groups and dominate almost every aspect in terms of dancing, singing, rappind, stage presence
