Direct title translation: love me, love me, love me. Though to keep the meaning and syllables consistent in English would be: I want your love, I want your love, I want your love.
May want to look into the "Japanese Underground Rock" scene. Saw that a lot of vocalists may have come from these, literally, underground performances.
1. People created Vocaloid to mimic human voice. 2. People trained Vocaloid to sing in a ways impossible for human artists. 3. People started covering Vocaloid and learned how to sing in a ways previously impossible for human artists.
Can confirm, I learned so much about what I was able to do with my voice just singing along to VOCALOID songs a lot. The most fun I've ever had singing, I owe to this community.
True, but I think it's more about giving composers a platform untethered to what will sell. That platform is also open to any genre anf is constantly being searched through~ Kikuo's songs have gotten me through a lot but I never would have found them if not for searching for new vocaloid songs
This song is a cover from Kikuo, an japanese producer that mostly uses vocaloid for his compositions. Due to the nature of vocaloid (an digital voice synthesizer), the vocal lines tends to get real wild since they dont have the restraints of a real, human voice. Knowing that, you can appreciate way more the work of ado and many other Utaites (japanese singers who do covers from vocaloid/games/animes/j-pop on nico nico douga and youtube) since they bring their own spin on really difficult songs that already have such power originally. thank you so much for your reactions, i love your deep analysis on how the voice works, and while not being a singer myself, the tips really helps even if im just goofing around singing in the shower
By the way, I noticed that high speed and accuracy of singing is characteristic of many Japanese performers. Perhaps this is the influence of competition with Vocaloid.
@@Olkam-w5u there's an old vocaloid song that I really want Ado to do a cover just to see how crazy she might sound singing it, it's called "musunde hiraite rasetsu to mukuro"「結ンデ開イテ羅刹ト骸」
@@devildante9 non-breath oblige is also a good one, i just wish there were more of it cuz its always interesting to see how people do their breath control for this song
She must've started off young! Because for me, I started to sing when I was 4-5 I think? (Just light songs nothing crazy) And now I'm 14, made a LOT of improvement:)
The name of the Japanese group is Number_i. Please listen to their debut song Goat, and their RU-vid music video has been listened to 30 million times in less than a month. THANK YOU❤️
Ado's range of emotional performance is perfect for this song which is basically the unhinged rant of a neglected child growing up into an attention seeker but never being able to have the void filled. The dainty whispering she does reflects this perfectionist persona the child creates in order to gain affection that then bursts into strait up screams of anger and frustration when she finally gets what she wants but is never satisfied. Ado perfectly displayed the tragedy of the song to the most extreme and we love her for that!
Yeah, it's absolutely amazing how she can bring so much fear, vulnerability, anxiety, frustration, anger, and downright unhinged near-insanity to her voice. She can literally tell entire dramatic stories with her tone control alone, don't even need lyrics to understand what's going on.
The "inhale" part is actually her saying "ne.." which is a kind of "hey.." which is just amazing since the song is about a neglected child that grows into an attention seeker
I like to call her the "closet princess". She started her career by singing in her closet, and she admitted that she always wanted to be a princess. She is really the goat of music
@@4ytherium YES THIS I hope to find vocal analyses on her as well, I've only ever heard her from kikuo but she is phenominal from the little I've heard
A lot of people currently are on a hate train because of how she does things recently, people go oh its just screaming, there's nothing special about it, she just screams, but to get to that point you have to be extremely persistent and continuously learn, mind you ado is only 21 years old as well
Ado's shifts and transitions Like Crime and Punishment where you feel like you're in a very rough, tight compact room and next thing you know.. you're in an wide empty cold room. Or you're running under a summer heat and a cold breeze suddenly hits you in the face..
CRIME AND PUNISHMENT LOVER ALSO? ITS SO HARD TO MAKE PROPLE KNOW WHAT YOURE SINGING ABOUT DESPITE THE LYRICS (JUST TONE) BUT SHE DOES IT OERFECT IN CRIME IN PUNISHMENT
6:03 Something really cool I noticed about this part is that the lyrics say "Kurushii" in Japanese which roughly translates to "I can't breathe" and the fact that she sang this part so tensely is really freaking cool
This song is just something else... The way she sounds rather "crazy" in the beginning but it turns more and more into something that sounds like vulnerability or even pain, especially towards the end in one of the last screams... Absolutely wild...
4:18 THIS IS UNIRONICALLY THE FIRST TIME EVER A SONG HAS MADE ME PHYSICALLY STAND UP, SCREAM AND LIKE GENERALLY HAVE A PHYSICAL REACTION OF THAT LEVEL. HOLY SHIT DUDE
In general, it’s very good that Ado appeared and people began to be interested not only in the lyrics of the songs, but also in the vocal techniques of their performance
It's sad that it takes vocal talent THIS huge to appear for some people to start paying attention to what all these great and poetic songwriters are saying in their lyrics, but I count my blessings.
@@raccoonchild Ado said in an interview: "Look at the lyrics and sing pretty when the content is pretty, and sing like you're afraid when you're scared. I continued to sing in that way, and that's how I ended up with the style I have now".
It's almost theater I'd say, the professional level at wich she expresses the emotions underlying the lyrics, it's more intense than what we usually hear in western music. I could really feel the child suffering on the last scream, trying to be loved, wich is what the lyrics is about
The fact that we dont have to understand a thing she says too know what she is doing is amazing speaks volumes and makes you understand why she is so popular and still growing. She is only 21 we are witnessing the beginning.
12:41 This made me cry while smiling wtf. You can feel the emotion so much you could cry, but also smile because she sounds like she held nothing back to be able to even sound like that. She's just so amazing!!!!!
I was privileged enough to be able to go to her concert in Bangkok, was able to listen to this song live! She has a gorgeous voice, my friend and I were incredibly ecstatic when this song came on!
Breaking down Ado's cover for this one really let me take in the emotion for each technique she use. This song title is "Love me, Love me, Love me" and is essentially about the insatiable desire of wanting more love and the person this song is directing to "isn't enough". So it really gave a mentally unstable vibe, which is what I get from Ado's choice of using very contrasting techniques from one part to the next. Ado is really good at putting emotions on lyrics imo. So even without understanding the lyrics, we can still get the vibe of the song.
this was a really good breakdown! I absolutely love Ado and her singing is actually insane, like unbelievably good. but man i was giggling at some of your examples LOL without context it's just bro screaming into his mic
Another great reaction! The way ado uses her voice and range to express emotion is crazy and there's just that WOW factor to it, I love the flexibility of her voice. I also recommend a cover artist ueno yorunouta, theyre not well known but their singing also caught my attention lately. I'm looking forward to more videos
I saw Ado sing this live and there's actually not enough superlatives on how insane her vocals are. The scary part to me is how she nails every note live just as well as she does in her recordings lol. I'm glad that her talent is being more recognized, I feel like what she does with her voice will have quite a large impact on how people approach creating music. Thanks for the vid Chris that was cool to see your analysis you broke it down in such a way thats so easy to understand.
I think it's fun to compare Ado's loveka with songs with a similar atmosphere. In addition, it is a song sung for the second time after the debut. This "loveka?" The song is about the theme of blind love, so a deep-sea fish loveka appears in the video. This time, I was singing a song with the theme of wanting to be loved by someone who can't turn around. It seems like it's on purpose that it sounds painful
"loveka" i would Say It Is more about a morbid love, about obsection. While this is mostly about a kid Who tries to get the love of her/his parents. This Is how I interpreted them ( I agree with everything else you pointed out)
I think that when people go over songs in languages they are unfamiliar with they should look at the lyrics in their language, because for aishite aishite aishite, the way ado sings these lyrics are because of the meaning behind what is being sung, like when she’s having louder tones it’s to pack a heavier punch in the lyrics, and I think knowing the lyrics plays a big part in talking about her singing voice.
Just saw her concert in LA. This was one of my favorite songs of her set. Not just the beautiful singing but the combination of the lighting effects and the background display really matched perfectly. With Ussewa, Tot Musica, and Rebellion hitting so wonderfully hard, Aishite was just a different feel. VERY VERY excellent live performance.
I love this cover by Ado bc the way she sings it gives pain to the story the song tells, and it literally gives me goosebumps every time I hear it, AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT
Really like your Ado reactions and I think you practicing how to get your voice to sound like hers in these clips is really fun and inciteful! You are really good at breaking down how to achieve similar sounds
That was a good song really! I'm literally in tears at the last screaming part, that's scream really synchronize with that chest voice. It's so beautiful! I'm feeling like hear the opera and metal concert at the same time. So amazing!
There is a singer that Chris can probably be as excited as Ado. Please take a look at the first take version of the song Mephisto the Queen Bee. I get goosebumps.😊
From more than 12 reviews of Ado's songs, I can say that Chris is the only one who explains everything clearly and in detail, and even repeats it. Anyone learning to sing, go to Chris.
I love watching your reactions and analysis'! They really give insight into the tones and many aspects to singing. Other people often just say "Wow, I liked that part" but you really explain it and go in depth. I love the examples you give to really exagerate certain parts
im just so blown away since i never really listened to Ado in this way, i just enjoyed her music and kept listening to it until this video, i had goosebumps go over my body the WHOLE time while listening to this and i sure will listen to her songs and covers with way more attention then i ever did before, glad i watched this video!
Great insightful analysis as always~ Ado is just one of a kind. Also, Kikuo always produces rather interesting stuff so I'd highly recommend giving songs like "O Light" a shot. The singer Hanatan gave that one a very special vibe back then.
I love it when musicians and vocalists find wild creative music like this. When it goes from “huh?” To “how” to “this is nuts!” And lands on “I need more” Especially when you know what she’s doing and just get to sit back in awe and enjoy it.
I believe that the changes in Ado's tone of voice are a thousand times better when you read the lyrics of his songs and realize that each way of singing is in accordance with what he is saying..
This is an incredible song and Ado is insanely creative and talented. I suggest checking out Hanabie. Yukina’s vocals have such contrasts… not quite like Ado, but ranges from squeaky to deathcore vocals. It’s pretty crazy.
I love watching your Ado reactions, you look so genuinely excited about her, it makes me so happy 😭😭 I would recommend Darling Dance, Fleeting Lullaby and Love Ka!!
Have you watched katrinkas's reactions to ado? They are pretty informative and also katrinka gets more passionate about ado with every video she makes on her
I would also appreciate a Vocal Analysis on the AiNA THE END ”Red:birthmark”. She is another Japanese singer who sings anime songs and has quite a unique voice.
That "ne?" at 9:45 isn't just an exhale, "ne" means "right?" or "isn't it?", she's talking about the this "perfect" ideology (I don't recall the translation exactly), like, "isn't this perfect? right?" and then completly changes tones to contrast and deny it. It's so "hidden" yet is so delicious to hear... I Ado I cry listening to your masterpieces :')
4:40 Yes there are at least 2 types of people, some will say they can never be that good and give up, others may be inspired by such a high level. Personally, I'm the second type, I'm comfortable when there is someone so high that I don't have to look for someone else, that's the living motivation, one of the highest levels a person could achieve. I am personally motivated and inspired by such a person. Thank you for analyzing
If you want to see full range for ado, check out her cover of god-ish, (assuming you havent already seen it) because she changes singing style soooo many times in it
I love this song myself cause not only is Ado's singing amazing, but she's using it to tell a story, and if you know the lyrics, the story is really heartbreaking. That's what I love about artists like this, telling stories with not only your words, but also your voice
I just subbed! Love it when people who react know what they're talking about :) i bet you'd be impressed with Annapantsu's covers, she nails the build up and high notes
Thanks for providing such great insight on how she sings, my mom is a vocal instructor as well and she could not figure out how Ado is able to do this casually at her concerts! When I was younger, I taught myself how to switch between head voice, chest voice, and mix, but the most I could get out of my 12-year-old voice was a mix. Now (much later) I realize that where my scream is best (so it doesn't hurt) is at a *very loud* mix. I had to do several sing/metal esque/screams in a music/show/play/thingy (very difficult to explain, it wasn't really a musical), and one of my songs had several Ado-like screams in it. It was really fun but after a few hours of rehearsal it was hard to talk.
I've struggled with performing harsh vocals and your single comment "finding that vulnerablity between head voice and chest voice and exploiting that" made it all click for me. I finally managed to do harsh growls without damaging my voice. Thanks Chris
I'm no vocalist or singing expert at all, I'm just a big fan of Ado and good singing, and I love seeing analyses of Ado's singing. With little singing knowledge, I enjoyed Ado a lot, but I get a new appreciation for her every time I see your explanations of the technicalities of what she does
My god this guy actually did a full and understandable explanation of Ado’s psycho voice. How did he understand all those weird things she was doing?😂 Ado also scares me with how she was able to sing a song designed for a voice synthesizer💀
I love Ado's version of Aishite!! I love how she canges her voice to match the lyrics, like, for example, when shes singing, she changes her voice to sound more "cutesy" to attract attention, then changes back to more of a whine. Ado never fails to meet my high expectations that i have of her.
I Don't think you have done a react to it but, "Hollowness" by Minami is incredible and I think you would love! Another one who is sooooo unique with how she sings and what she does with her voice and breathing. Amazing vid Chis! Loved it, keep up the awesome work.
It's actually really cool that you noted that Ado's screams near the end were almost like old rock singers because while Ado started out as a vocaloid cover artist, she said she first found her love of music with bands like KISS and Queen! I know this is a pretty late comment, but just a fun fact for a fellow Ado enjoyer!
