I wish my dad did this. This father was stern and just making sure she didn’t give up at the first sign of difficulty and he did a good job. My father just screamed at me and made me afraid to ride. Other dads can take a few notes from this man. Good job man 👍🏻
I am going to go through this with my 13 year old son shortly after I buy him a KLX 140. I can already feel the frustration level rising in me from watching this video.
Funny enough, I’m 20 years old and have a buddy who I ride with who uses that exact bike 🤣they’re the perfect power/size. Definitely gonna be a bit frustrating, but just keep thinking how cool it’ll be when he’s better at it and y’all can go ride together. That’s what my dad told me he had to think abt, as to not wanna hit my dumbass with the bike 💀
@@growgang_lc1978 yeah, I’m about 14 and I have almost the same bike as the girl in the vid, I have a green KLX 140 and I am having a crap ton of fun riding around the neighborhood
@@solidbeast4262 my first bike was a Honda XR100, kept it for a bit then switched to atvs. Had a Honda 300EX, now I’ve got a Polaris sportsman 570cc. My friends got no problem keeping up with me on his KLX 140 in the trails, even on hill climbs
6 years ago I started on a 1998 xr100. With help from RU-vid I taught myself. A year later I moved on to a 2017 crf230. I just sold my 230 a few months ago. This past weekend I got my motorcycle license and bought a 2000 shadow vt600. I think your daughter did an amazing job and she’s lucky to have a father that takes the time to teach her. We all gotta start somewhere. Hell I remember my first crash was because I used the front brake around a curve on wet grass lol. Crashed into my dads fence. I paid for it… literally.
I just done this same thing with my 13 year old son today. Took him a little while but once he got it, he was slinging dirt everywhere by the end of the day. Just bought him the bike today. He loves it!!!!
The realest video I’ve seen on learning. I remember my dad started me on a 125. Spent 3 days with him learning how to shift and all that on the asphalt road. Then, went on my first track and got destroyed. Good times haha
I learnt with many stalls. But my teacher had so much patience and respected I needed to learn. Watching I learnt I was early off the clutch and soft on the gas. Once you actually feel the point it’s amazing. I still stall the small bike as I’m soft on gas. But I moved from a thumpstar to a RM450 with less stalls. Only 4 trips on the small bike and my clutch control changed so much when I got on the big bike. Understanding what the bike is telling you is important. Once you know that you improve drastically
Here i am a grown ass man on a $7000 bike that i dont know how to ride. I hope these kids realize how lucky they are to have a dad like you. Me and lots of others didnt get much of a childhood.
Dad of the year right there ❤️. I'm getting my bike tomorrow and I am determined to learn how to ride that thing. I'm gonna be at it all day and all night lol.
@@BrandonSBaker yep. Spent the whole day practicing with the clutch and started giving it more gas as I got better. Already starting to get the hang of it!
Great job! A little firm love never hurt anyone and I'm sure she's flying around now because of it. Got my son a 140cc today, 1st bike.👍🏾 Hope you're all well!
Not even my daughter but every time you made her try again she got closer and closer and more frustrated shows we try to give up when’s its almost over congratulations to this father
I remember the frustration off listening to my dad knowing everything better than i did, me thinking "yeah yeah whatever, i'll ride how i want to". What i learned from him saved my life a good amount of time. I nearly lost my knee at 14 when a car ran me over, i just had the reflexes he teached me to save myself at the right time.
Good job on not letting her give up. :) Funny story about my first time, i have never riden a bike with gears and clutch until i bought one, i managed to first try it. x.D That was the coolest thing i have ever done in my life, i was so proud and scared at the same time, it was a yamaha DT125R 1996. ^^
Great job at being an epic dad, you have confidence in your children teaching them that they can rely on you, my dad was never confident with me so unfortunately I had to learn a lot of stuff alone, but what can you do life throws curveballs at ya sometimes.
Same bike i learned on! A 2017 KLX 140G. Biggest thing is the starting and stopping. Great bike for that since it isnt snappy and will die before getting a ton of torque. I hope she had fun and has gotten better with the clutch and throttle control!
I feel like those 140s are the best starter bikes that was my 2 2nd bike and it was the best leaner/starter bike ever man good luck to your daughter that thing rips more than you expect 🤙🏻
Bravo for the perfect teaching and making her stay on the bike till she could ride it. I remember the first time I rode I popped a big ass wheelie and fell on my ass.
Dad’s a Captain. Need more assertive and encouraging dad’s. She will always remember that day. Confident dad, confident daughter. So much taught there. On both sides. 🙏
In my motorcycle class they had all the new people walk their bike while using the clutch. It was really a good way to get that clutch friction zone down with out the scare of actually being on the bike. She did good though, I almost hit a light pole my first time
ah i remember my first time it was pretty much the exact same thing with me and my dad other then i definitely did not want to quit lol. been riding for 5ish years now and I've had a great time:) great video man
I’ve been trying to teach my wife, and she’s having the same problem of always dumping the clutch at the end, she always wants to give up but she enjoys riding when she actually gets it going.
This brings back alot of memories of me learning on my 2009 ttr 125, that bike was such a blast. My dad was just like you, I remember I almost hit my moms car when I was practicing😂 now I'm ripping a 2021 kx 450
I was going to give you heck, because at first, it looked like a race MX bike, but I see it is a nice, mild little KLX that she can touch the ground on. Excellent choice. I hope she is having fun,---and dirt bikes inspire her to get engineering degrees to become a successful business owner, get together with investors, and make a dirt bike in the USA. Hey---none of us know what we are capable of over time and effort. :)
I learned where you let it out till you start rolling then just hold it there and give it gas. Then slowly start releasing the clutch from there after you start moving
I appreciate you posting this just so I can’t learn and so I don’t annoy my boyfriend whose going to be the one teaching me how to ride so I’m going to be a little prepared; and it was nice to hear a dad say you’re not done with this you’re going to learn❤
my uncle recently bought my siblings and i a dirtbike to share. 4 of my siblings are under the age of 8 and my blood brother is not interested at all as he is busy with his ps4. meanwhile i love it. ive been riding for about 6 weeks now. but only on saturdays. At the start it took me a while to get it yes you stall a few times but its normal :) dont give up!
@@BrandonSBaker I was Eating at my Favorite Steakhouse in Lake Granbury, Tx last night, when a Family came in with a girl on crutches. I said what happened? She wrecked her Dirtbike And still the whole Family Loves riding. I asked how old she was- 7! Glad to see girls and guys love the joy of Dirtbikes at a young age. I recently brought a Vintage 1990 Kawasaki KX250. Every time I ride it becomes a Perfect Day! GOD Bless All of Y'all.
I can’t believe she said il done heaps of times. I would kill to be in her position I really wish I was riding dirtbikes 😢 but you did a great job of teaching my dad would’ve gotten so pissed 😂
My boyfriend taught me how to ride a dirt bile, my first starts were exactly the same - except that she may be glad she has an electric starter - I don't, haha! 😄
I just got my dirt bike yesterday and I fell just trying to start it bc I have the one where you gotta stomp down on it to start. I don't know what its called, but we gotta order a new throttle bc we only gotta concrete where we live.
