I have been riding for 57 years, and I am still learning and improving my skills. I have been sensei for new riders and you right on with all your advice to your son. John. Couldnt agree with you more. Experience takes time and you have to know everything you can. Coming home safe after a long trip is what matters. Cam is so lucky to have you and a Harley at his age. I didnt have my first harley till I was almost 30 and never rode with my Dad. I learned everything on my own. Great channel for all bikers of every level 👍

Cam is fortunate to be able to ride with his dad. Great experience iam sure he will never forget. As far as the bike he probably is cold because he has no wind protection. He can do a windshield or what is hot right now is fxrt fairing or low rider st fairing from advan black ,ofcourse riser and lp6 light. Just something to think about.

YOURE RIGHT , JOHN! EVERY MOVE AND POSITION I AM IN IS DEFENSIVE, I AM ALWAYS THINKING AHEAD OF THE. GAME. TO ME, RIDING IS A STRATEGY WHICH MAKES IT CHALLENGING AND NOT JUST GETTING ON THE BIKE RIDING IN LALA LAND. EVEN ON THE INTERSTATE I WILL FIND A POCKET WHERE CARS ARE AT LEAST 1/4 AHEAD AND BEHIND ME AT ALL TIMES. I RIDE WHERE I WANT TO RIDE NOT WHERE I HAVE TO RIDE! CAM SHOULD REALLY CONSIDER CRASH BARS IN CASE HE DOES GO DOWN HIS LEG ISNT PINNED UNDER THE BIKE.

Brother I love seeing that father-son duo out riding together. My dad got me riding, I used to sneak his Harley out of the garage when I was a teen, start it and pull it back into the garage. Eventually took it thru town and around the high school to look cool. Later he and I did a lot of riding together, day rides. The one big miss, is we never got to go take a road trip together over multiple days; he would have loved as much. Take lots of pictures out on the trail with your son. Two quick points on the vid: 1) I totally agree on two lane highways, riding towards oncoming traffic, I tend to stay more to my right always to give myself more room from oncoming traffic. 2) I always ride with my jacket or my cut zipped up, zipped slightly down works if I’m hot, but never fully unzipped. I don’t like it flapping under my arms, and God forbid I ever went down, I want that jacket or vest secure around me for as much protection as it can give. Love these moments. Cam’s gonna be ready to hit the road with you to Daytona or Sturgis before you know it!

I know when I got my first Harley I was in my early 20's I did not have the money to do all these mods over a couple months.Took me a long time to save up. He is lucky you are able to help him out with all these upgrades

My first HD was a 2012 Sportster 1200 custom. I got it in 2021. It had 1906 miles on it. How is that possible? I traded it in on a 2014 Sportster Custom 1200. It only had 5k miles on it. If you look hard enough you can find really clean bikes. And Dad, you are tops. Nice job. Well done.

Thrashin bar and risers, hart luck grips, thrashin pegs and shifter/brake lever (keep the mids), Santoro or bung king style crash bars, Arlen Ness big sucker, hpi or stealth pipe bomb pipe, woods cams for sure. Saddlemen step up seat, fxrt fairing with Baja designs lp6. Legend suspension all around. Sheeeeesh that’d be a sick build.

That is so cool, dad. Share your experiences on motorcycling with your son. And explain that even the most experienced rider's have face some problems on the road. Divers, break downs and bad weather. But I believe that he will be a good rider from your experiences. Once hes one with that Harley, Im sure he'll be lead in some of your next adventures with time. Dang, looks a lot different with the tree gone. I was watching Cam ride and he looked cramped with the mid controls. My thought is that he needs to go forward with the controls a bit, but not too drastic. All that chrome you are talking about ??? Get those sponsor connections going!!!!

You should have him go to a rider safely course. Maybe even the two of you go. I have been riding for many years and took one a few years ago. There were a few things I learned and a few things that I forgot that I used to do but then got complacent. Plus you actually get a discount on your car insurance because it’s a driver safety course.
