My first paying job ever was working for a neighbor swathing, small baling, and then stacking by hand. I would run the swather and then usually he baled after it dried. He had a flatbed trailer with 6 X 12 runners with 1 foot space between the runners so you could walk on the runners for the bottom tier but then had to remember where they were otherwise you would step thru a bale while stacking the 2rd tier. Salary was $6.00 a day plus room and board and I thought I was getting rich as a 16 year-old kid in the 70's...
