People say Barn Swallows are common and can often be found under bridges and in various sheltered spots, especially near water bodies like piers. They are very cute, and fortunately, they are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
The Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) of 1918 prohibits the taking (including killing, capturing, selling, trading, and transporting) of protected migratory bird species without prior authorization from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, part of the Department of the Interior.
