I completely understand taking some of the edge off of the song with a few edits, but the censors butchered the hell out of this song. 😁😁 Great reaction as always! Thank you!
@@timw6423 so that the song can be played on tv / radio during peak periods where kids might be watching / listening. thats why music is generally censored all of the time and there's an explicit version for the appropriate times (which im sure you know).
agreed. its crazy because if you have never heard the song before - watching the censored version of the video you don't necessarily get any imagery or knowledge of the fact the girlfriend is in the car. ive seen many react to the song and they're not even aware of it.when you take out all of the references to his girlfriend (minus the "shut up b!tch, i'm trying to talk.." it's easy for the story to be incorrectly told.
The first time I saw someone call themselves a 'stan' within a fandom, I was just a little more than perplexed... like um, do you really understand what you just said and how or why that phrase came about? I still don't get it and it still creeps me out a bit because of the layers within his writing. Em didn't write it to be flattering. I'm with both of you, Eminem's songs are meant to be heard in the entirety, but music censoring irritates me from the jump. The edited version of Sing For The Moment wipes out a whole section of the message in it.
Please make her watch "Final Destination." I stay far away from trucks loaded with timber 😂. To this day, I look at those trucks, and I immediately think of the movie
Please react to 'BAD GUY' - the sequel to Stan & it's amazing - no spoilers! Em is 'uncancellable.- he won't bend to the 'offended mob'🐐His music is Art & it should never be censored. More Marshall please🐐#STAN PS you'lll find Em's uncensored videos at 'EminemExplicit'👍
Great reaction, yeah the censorship ruined this song. Too much of it nowadays and too many snowflakes out there. Lots of his videos are good, just been watching reactions to "when i'm gone" great song
@@DDZ516 you're right. I told her bout Kim and just realized i spilled it to by saying it's about his ex wife but i didn't told her the twist. You know what he does to her in words of course
I don't remember it being that bad but holy cow, that is pretty bad. Like I said in the video, it's crazy because it's his official video from his channel
This kind of mentality has exploded with podcasts. People listen to a podcaster twice a week and talk back in their heads. They feel like they have a real relationship with the podcaster. They remember little moments and things that they mention with their family. And when they meet the podcaster they talk to them as if they have a personal relationship. They talk about events that happened 15 years ago as if the person remembers and it's in their head as much as it is for themselves.
Censoring curse words is annoying, but wouldn’t ordinarily impact a song too much. This video has been HEAVILY censored, including some really key parts of Stan’s story that really illustrate just how obsessed he is with Em and how far off the rails he’s gone, to the point of such severe delusion that Em’s songs have bled into his reality and he’s actions real life actions are being dictated by Eminem’s lyrics to an extent. Because two lines cut from the driving scene are explicit references to lyrics to two songs from Eminem’s first/previous album The Slim Shady LP. “I just drank a fifth of vodka, dare me to drive?” is a line from My Name Is, while the lines about his girlfriend in the trunk are references to his song Kim which results in his wife being deceased in the trunk of his car. Stan makes a point of differentiating himself from Eminem, by stating that he didn’t kill her because he wanted her to suffer first, in some twisted attempt at one-upmanship. Stan is unable to differentiate between the fantasy of Eminem’s songs and his reality. Which is the entire point and genius of this song. He was Public Enemy No. 1 following the release of SSLP and the backlash it caused. This song is a direct response to those who attacked him previously. He’s making the point his songs aren’t to be taken literally eg. he doesn’t actually want to kill his wife, he’s just venting frustrations. This is further illustrated when we get to his verse responding to Stan’s letters, where he makes a point of differentiating himself from his Slim Shady character. He expresses concern about Stan’s behaviour, gives him advice and suggests he see a councillor. Also, i don’t think these edits were made recently. I’m pretty sure this was how it originally played on MTV and the like. I certainly have recollection of the video being heavily censored here when it was played on TV here in Australia. But I also remember the scene showing her screaming in the trunk, so I’m doubting my own memories. Plus he’s said much much worse in videos released since Stan, they haven’t been censored. Edit: looked it up. This version was one of two versions that was played on mtv, this version is actually the less censored of the two.
Another product of Eminem is Tom Macdonald... he bought a beat ($100k) from Eminem in an online auction and wrote "Dear Slim". his other stuff is pretty good too
I watched all the reactions to this video, I’m from Russia and my English is very bad, I don’t know how much English-speaking people understand with the cut out words, but it seems to me that the cut out words kill the whole meaning, and everyone who watched the incomplete version didn’t understand anything about the girl
Alexis favorite song is Love Bites!?!?! Nice. I'm not sure what got played the most in my car growing up, Hysteria or 5150...but I went through three cassettes of each. By the way, for epic videos I recommend Falling In Reverse.
It’s wild how they cut out so much of this song yet they can have people lap dancing on satan in music now.. The fact this man was so big and the song was so big they actually added “Stan” and this definition in the dictionary.. like it has its own new meaning now. Which completely misses the meaning of the song entirely lol
Oh wow! Alexis definitely looks a lot more 'expecting' than the latest time I'd been to this channel! 😮 Which I'm sure can't be much more than only a couple of weeks ago, though!? 😀
Hi Alexis, I'm a big Eminem fan, too... but not as big a fan as Stan was, though. What were your thoughts on a couple of other songs by Eminem, titled "Castle" and "Arose"? Great reaction video, btw
Excellent choice. I adore this song; I must've listened to this some thousand or so times over the years. Its haunting. Looking forward to the reaction!
