I remember I was very nervous about traveling by bus in Ecuador, I read so many horror stories about people having stuff stolen. I had to travel from Loja to Quito and I got a night bus, I paid for the most expensive tickets and it ended up being the best bus journey of my life. Very comfortable and very safe. Great video.😉
Thank you for sharing this travel story with us, they are our absolute favorite 🙌 We are so glad to hear the journey turned out to be such a good experience for you too. We loved the bus system in Ecuador 🇪🇨 and would not hesitate to use it again 🚍
I heard taking the bus from Guayaqill to Cuenca is hazardous, at times drivers are too tired and sleepy and lots of accidents. Did you feel unsafe and nervous on the bus trip?
I can’t speak to the drivers being tired and the accidents, though that could very well be true. We did not feel unsafe and took the buses everywhere in Ecuador. In addition to the driver, there is a conductor on every bus. The conductor takes care of ticketing but also sits up front with the driver to help them as needed. While our bus drove during the day and night, there were earlier buses that traveled only during the day if there is concern about the drivers being tired. Hope this helps 🙌
Hi guys Amazing hear your are in my country be safe and enjoy, there are nice people , but take care wt the other ones . God Bless your trip 👋🏼 I live in Jersey
Thanks Marcello, we loved Ecuador. Such a beautiful country and the people were very kind to us 🇪🇨💛 We hope Jersey is treating you well, we love it there 🙌
Thank you for leaving us a comment Gus 🙌 It was definitely harder to breath, but fortunately no altitude sickness 🤢When we were hiking Rainbow Mountain we had a few people in our group get sick. They pushed through, but it was tough.
Hi Guys.to bud the trip wasn't too good.but Cuenca it's beautiful People are very friendly and the food it's a so good. I am from Cuenca.but I moved to Toronto Canada 🇨🇦. 20 years ago.have fun.and good luck 👍
Hello and thank you for leaving us such a nice comment 🙌 The bus trip had a few obstacles, but we still really enjoyed the beautiful views and how easy it was to get to Cuenca. Cuenca is an amazing for all of the reasons you mentioned. Our next video, posting tomorrow, highlights our amazing experience there 😊 And Cuenca to Toronto is such a long way, but we have heard amazing things about Toronto too 🇪🇨🧳✈️🇨🇦 We are hoping to travel to Canada either very late this year or early next year 🗓
Hello Joey 👋 The view was amazing 😀And while our experience traveling by bus in Ecuador was good, several people have mentioned how dangerous it can be. Fortunately, most of the majors destinations in Ecuador also have Airports close by if traveling by bus in not an option. Thanks for watching 😊
Nate’s excitement then disappointment at the “game show” had me ROLLING! Hilarious! What an exciting day, we actually arrived at that bus station from Peru - it’s surprising how much is there!
@@ThePassportCouple just so you know, there is a shuttle service right next to the airport, so you don't have to take a cab. It's about 2 blocks from the airport exit. That should save you about an extra $4 alone to not use a cab. Glad you enjoyed it here!
Thank you for the supportive words 🙌 We did keep them on, and we are also vaccinated. We appreciate the ability to still travel during this time. Thanks again 😊
Twenty or twenty five years ago, there weren't the Cajas Highway for a trip to Guayaquil, so, people should take the highway for La Troncal, and after, the Panamerican Higway through Cañar and Azogues. In fact, the trip was longer than now, because you took about five or six hours from the city of Guayaquil to Cuenca.
Bus bathrooms are locked in Ecuador. The schedules are back to back so drivers don't have time or facilities to empty bathrooms. The assistant will open them for kids and sometimes a women. If you're a man, forget about it. Pee before, or at the stop.
Going through the Cajas, it can get so cloudy you can't see 10 feet in front of you. Really scary trying to drive on steep and winding roads on the edge of high cliffs.
Hi Amy 👋 That sounds like an unnerving scenario. We had pretty good weather but it was quite an experience to see them having to wipe down the windows when driving at night. Glad we made it safely 😅
Hey Guys. What hotel did you stay at that was near the airport? Did you like it? Also, what hotel did you stay at in Cuenca? Did you like that one also? My wife and I are planning at trip to Ecuador. Thanks guys!!!!!!
Hi Mike 👋 Near the airport, we stayed at the Hilton Colon Guayaquil, and loved it. It is a beautiful hotel. In Cuenca, we stayed at Balcon Del Arte Apart & Suite. You can book with them on Airbnb and all the major hotel booking sites. It was a great place to stay with an amazing location (walking distance to anything). We hope you and your wife have a great trip to Ecuador 🇪🇨 Reach out anytime if you have questions 😀
@@ThePassportCouple Si pueden entrevistar a los de la barra del Che Pérez (argentino con sangre y corazón azul 💙 Su barra sigue porque el chePerez nos acompaña desde el cielo) Mil gracias 💙🇪🇨
This trip reminded me of my 2019 trip from Guayaquil to Cuenca. First time in both of those cities with me, my brother and my mom. Great experience and I miss my beautiful Ecuador. I hope to go one day with a close friend.
@@ThePassportCouple me too. Hey! My suggestion for the next trip is to go to the city of Loja! It’s a great tourist spot that is somewhat underrated. Also, take a trip to vilcabamba. Stories have it that the people live over 100 years old. My great grandfather lived to 116 years old.
Hi Kathy 👋 Thanks for watching, we appreciate you taking time out of your day to support us 🙌 We think nerves are a good sign 👍 it means you are getting outside your comfort zone and that's where growth happens 💪 Cheers 🥂 from Italy 🇮🇹 And Happy Wednesday 😃
Agreed. If this your first time ever riding a bus? It’s really no big deal. You could have focused much more on the views and not you two acting like confused tourists.
@@andrewsmith9174 Hello Andrew 👋Thanks for watching, we really appreciate the support 🙌We know your time is valuable and every single view helps us reach our goals and helps our channel grow. The views were certainly breathtaking, but we also try to focus on the raw experience of travel and to help others navigating similar experiences. Thanks again for watching and Happy Wednesday 😀
@@ThePassportCouple, as a person that took both a bus ride and drove the mountainous rode to Cuenca, you made this really an overblown experience. And I had to dodge rocks, llamas, horses, cows, dogs, bicycles, passing on blind curves on switchbacks, following a bus on a diversion because of a washed out road (the car was bottoming out in the ruts the bus made), brakes overheating on the down hill sides, and having the car stall because of a little altitude adjustment. And that was Feb 2021. You’re over dramatic and the vistas were the best parts.
@@andrewsmith9174 What a wild ride that must have been Andrew. Having driven through Costa Rica, Colombia, Jordan, the United States, and most recently Italy, we can relate to those experiences. It is exhilarating for sure. Thank you for taking time to share your story with us. We love swapping stories with fellow travelers. If you ever want to share another story, we would love to hear it. Drop us a comment in any of our videos. Until then, we wish you many more amazing travel experiences to come. Take care Andrew 😀
The movies on the buses in Ecuador were always interesting. Ironically mostly horror films, but the one time there was a good movie on, the sleep timer went on and they never turned it back on again. All you can do is laugh 😂
@@ThePassportCouple Hahahha I love it! Horror is good, unless it's a horror about vehicle accidents because the way they drive multiplied by the wild ass roads has me clenching everything! Was the movie Apocalypto?
@@CaptureJoseph None about vehicle accidents thankfully, but we are not horror flick people so we were averting our eyes nonetheless 😂And, yes, I think it was Apocalypto.
Thanks for your video. But, why do you both sound so surprised that the accommodations are not pre-historic? And you should be thankful that the mask rule is in play. You sound surprised about that too. Ecuador is not a low tech country. And it’s a good thing they prevent you from filming in the station. It’s a good security and safety measure based on possible terrorist or bad intentioned folks. And stop making it seem that everywhere you go is an unexpected accommodation phenomenon. Other than that, thanks for taking the time to show off a beautiful country.
Thank you for leaving us a comment, and share your thoughts. We really appreciate it 🙌 A very brief background about us. Before we traveled full time. we worked in hotels so admittedly, we get very excited when we experience amazing hospitality and great accommodations. We were fortunate to experience a lot of this in Ecuador. It is an amazing, kind, and beautiful country and we can't wait to go back again one day 🧳✈️🇪🇨😀
