First Time To Grow Soil-less Eggplant Outdoor 🍆🍆. No Greenhouse No Pump | Kratky Method| Hydroponics
A newbie to hydroponics. This is my first time to grow eggplant hydroponically using Kratky method. No Greenhouse nor pump used. This is growing outdoor in a one gallon flower pot. The seedlings I bought it locally from a garden store and transfer into a net pot with hydroton (clay pebbles). Also, I made a DIY formula using Masterblend for the water nutrient. I missed to take a footage on this process as I was too focus and excited on the application of new knowledge acquired through few research ;-). It was fun and fulfilling to be able to see the plant grow and for the most part harvesting and enjoying the love of cooking fresh produce.

Salamat po ng madami. Yes lalabz yun po ang next sa list wait ko lang mga seedlings mabuhay medyo mahaba haba hintayan haha. Try ko nga sana tutorial na live kaso super hina ng net ko.Try mo mag hydroponics dyan lalabz. Madali lang po siya lalo na yung lettuce.

I use the same nutrient ratio from seedling to harvest. Masterblend tomato formula 4-18-38 NPK 12g, CN 12g, ES 6g in 5 gal of water. I like to keep it simple so I did not use a tds or measure the ppm.🌱🙂

Is it outdoor growing and if so what will happen if it rains and the nutrient inside the pot will be dilluted with the rain water?

Hi mesug ismael, yes this is growing outdoor. I cover them with plastic bag to minimize rain water getting through the container or since this is a small container. I just bring it inside the porch.

How to start. Limited space with no direct sunlight. Is it still possible.

You can grow hydroponics indoors and use a grow light. Since you have limited space. I suggest growing leafy green vegetables and herbs. If your space permits maybe a dwarf tomato like tiny tim and peppers. Eggplant will occupy a lot of space.

With this size of container(1.5-2 gal), after 3-4wks from seedling transplant. At least 2-3x a week, especially when the plants start to flower and bear fruits. It takes up more nutrients. I typically refill the nutrient solution once the level in the bucket drops to around 2 inches.🌱🙂

No problems when the plants are young, but what happens when the plants get big, are loaded with fruits, and it gets windy outside? In other words, how do you keep top-heavy plants from being blown over?

With these set up some needs minimal support . I have grown them in 5 gallon bucket that just do fine without extra support except two brick in between the base. To be safe, putting stakes would be helpful if needed.🌱🙂

Hello Victor👋. I do refill more often with this size of container (approx. 1.5-2 gal) since its a small reservoir I refill at least 2-3x week when it starts to flower and bear fruit as the plants takes up a lot of nutrient. I only change the nutrients when necessary, I would say once or twice for the entire harvest. I hope this helps!🌱🙂

Neem oil works for me or a few drops of dishwashing liquid in water. Spray them after dawn🌱🙂

I like to keep it simple. I do not measure PPM. I just use the recommended manufacturers ratio on the nutrients I use. Here I used Masterblend 4-18-38 the ratio is NPK 12g CN 12g ES 6g for 5gallons of water.

Yes po masterblend pa rin. Half ratio lang po ginamit ko for seedlings then for maturity hanggang fruiting stage na po yung ratio nashare ko. Ito rin po ginamit ko sa watermelon and melon.

Bale 6mos lang po nasubukan ko from seeds dahil nawiwinter po sa lugar namin. Namamatay na kahit mamumunga pa dahil sa lamig. (From seeds po 2mos start na siya mamulaklak at mamunga then continous for 4mos.) Siguro dyan po satin mas maganda kc mahaba ang growing season. Depende rin po sa variety.

Hindi ko namonitor sir but this growing season meron ako tanim gagawa po ako ng in depth review. Share ko din po. Maganda po pala pabuhayin sa hydro very friendly ang talong. Lalo na siguro kapag nasa flow system siya mas maganda ani kc sa kratky pa lang maganda na bunga niya.

Bihirang bihira sis kc I’d like to keep simple. Alam ko na kc ppm range ng tubig ko b4 ako add ng nutsol. Pero kung may tds po kayo please do so lalo na if pang commercial at need mamonitor ang growth at yield ng halaman.

Nakakatuwa nmn po. happy to share po. Sana po mashare nyo progress ng plants🌱😊. Yung DIY ko po na nutsol best for siya sa leafy veggies. Ito po ratio ginamit ko sa tomato at talong. Masterblend 4-18-38 12gNPK, 12g,CN, 6gES sa 5gal ng tubig. Sa cucumber nmn po 10gNPK 10gCN, 5gES sa 6gal din tubig. Kapag sa tomato po medyo may black sa bottom ng bunga dagdag lang kayo konting calcium.
