Happy to hear y'all are down for a Part 2!! Okay boom, more 🇭🇹 dishes to try: * Griot (fried pork shoulder #BUSSIN): served with rice and beans, fried plantains, and pikliz * Legume (vegetable stew w/ beef): served with white rice and bean sauce * Diri Djondjon (Black Mushroom Rice): served with stewed chicken or turkey * Pate Feuilletee (baked patties filled with either beef, chicken, or fish: your choice!): served alone * Fried Red Snapper (Haitian Style): served with white rice, fried plantains, and pikliz * Meatballs (Haitian Style): served with fried plantains and pikliz Pikliz is a spicy Haitian relish that tastes amazing with fried meat of any kind!

I'm glad you guys tried Haitian food and also, Haitians doesn't use ginger in their foods. You will never find a Haitian food recipe with ginger except for those who don't know about the culture. In the Haitian culture, Gingers are used for remedies or teas not for food.

@@carlisaandsamplease try different type of rice with legim. It's a mix of veggies made chayote and eggplant. You won't regret it. Try our " grillot and pikliz" it's marinated porc with a special type mix of spicy cabbage or even our " taso and pikliz" it's goat meat an the pikliz The "Akra" is usualy really crunchy the one you had in the video was probably a little soggy that's why you haven't lived the full experience of it and not fall instantly in love with it.

First time I have ever seen that as well. I may try it myself. When we eat pate kode we don't use any sauce for dipping. Most of the pate kode is loaded with hareng and tomatoes and onion and shallots. These ingredients plus other spices makes the paté soft and gooey inside that you won't need a dipping sauce

I'm so happy seeing other cultures enjoying our food. You are 1000% right. You have to eat the plantain as soon as it come out. Epis is sofrito. We honestly use epis to marinade almost all our meat. Hense why the patty and the chicken with sauce taste different. Black beans sauce- we don't use ginger most people i know use garlic gloves, a little of garlic, scallions.

How we eat our food white rice, beans w the liquid on rice, chicken and sauce/stew on the beans, the mac on the side (which isn't made to actually be cheesy like mac and cheese but creamy n delicious hopefully that made sense)... the marinade is just deep fried flour and some amazing spices and sometimes you can had beef or chicken broth to it to make it even tastier, and the akra is deep fried malanga like you mentioned HAPPY YALL TRIED HAITIAN FOOD ❤️ and I just found yall I'm subscribing NOWW!!!

I really love how he's himself and like not afraid to be! It's giving. and I hope he doesn't change that, unfortunately sometimes women can be insensitive to how they choose to express themselves to their s/o, I myself sometimes am not conscious of how I choose to communicate to my partner. I'm not here to step on toes though, just saying that he handles it well, and carries on with the shenanigans lol. BUT might I add, that I LOVE how mindful miss lady was when explaining the food, like very respectful and not looking to offend anyone's culture. That was super sweet and cute on her end.

Hering is cured fish similar to cod fish... where is the pikliz? You're missing out on the pikliz (shredded cabbage, carrots scotch bonnet, shallot, greens plus to give the food umph...) Epis is greens with scallion, parsley, onions peppers, chives, (our version of Sofrito) etc. Bonita aka sweet white potato usually boiled or fried. chicken in gravy.

Haitian food is the best... this is my first time watching you guys 😂😂 it's so cute how you both enjoyed Haitian delicacies. Ok first off you mentioned the dryness on the herring patty and marinade😊. Since they didn't give you guys extra meat sauce whatever you had leftover in the meat sauce is what we use to pour over the rice and beans 😋 and also you can pour some over the Mac and cheese. As for the herring patty and marinade we also use sauce or Haitian hot sauce which is what we call pikliz but it seems like they didn't give you guys any. We also use pikliz on top of the fried plantains or use the meat sauce, we never use the beans for that. By the way keep up the good work 👍

I'm glad that you tried something different. People who try Haitian food for the first time usually go for griot, rice and beans and fried plantain (which is good in its own right) but you diversified. I'm surprised that you described the accra like a fried potato though. Carlisa was right, it's really more like yucca but fried. Next time, ask for some pikliz. It's a spicy condiment that Haitians sprinkle on their fried plantain (tostones), in rice and on meat, according to taste. Haitian food is life!

Yes...Haitians will NEVER put ginger in their stew beans! Same way Latinos will NEVER put ginger in their habichuelas. Not sure what flavor component you were smelling. Next time ask for some "Pikliz" (Haitian Seasoned Spicy Cabbage Slaw) - It is usually served as a side condiment. Caution: Some people make it very spicy since they literally put small cut pieces of Habanero peppers in it.

Loveeeeeed this review and I could tell it was honest with no fluff. 🙌 I agree with the plantains needing to be eaten ASAP too! They need to be eaten there! 😭 Pretty good pronunciations too by the way 😊 The other translations/pronunciations are: •Stew chicken (in sauce) is “Poule en sauce” •Sauce pois (‘pwa’) noir is “Black bean sauce” •Marinade is pronounced as if there was no e on the end like “marinad”. It rhymes with ‘navidad’ in Spanish. You might get something totally different if you ask it the other way lol The chicken gravy is also just called sauce too lol 😋 Also, there will be 2 types of patties: 1. Pate (resembles a puff pastry; rectangular) 2. Pate kode (resembles an empanada) Epis / Epice (the base marinade for meats etc. which literally means ”Spice” is pronounced like the Spanish »i« or like a ‘double ee’ in English. So it would sound like “epeece” (eh-piece).

Please try different type of rice with legim.
