Hey friends!
Today I’m finally trying the indie brand Rogue Lacquer! They’re probably most known for their micro flakie bombs that give your nails a quartz/granite countertop look, but I knew I haaad to finally try them when they released this Austen-tatious Collection made up of chrome shimmers! They absolutely blew me away, kind of how I felt when I tried some of Potion Polish’s shimmers 🤤 I think these would totally fit in with my #fairycore video a few weeks ago, it’s a shame I got them so late! I use captions with all my videos, so the text at the top is super helpful!! Thank you!! ❤ Have you tried garden path or alchemy lacquer? They both have some good flakies you might want to check out!

Yay great!! I always hesitated to move them to the top since I usually end up adding some text during my voiceover for something I forgot to mention lol 🤦🏻‍♀️ but okay will do that moving forward, even for comparisons. I just hope the layout there won’t be too busy, with the text on top of the bottles. And yes I’ve tried some shades from Alchemy before, I think I share my video on them in Jan but loved them overall! But still haven’t tried Garden Path, they’re definitely on my list to check out 🤩

Omg I love all the names! Was just thinking how great it would be to have swatches with someone with fair skin AND a darker skin tone too, so the pictures at the end with your friend is neat, thank you!

It really is such a gorgeous unique finish 👀 Also thank you esp for pointing out that Emma and Persuasion are slightly staining, i always care about that 😆 i'll wishlist this and decide closer to Black Friday 😆 P&P, Emma and Persuasion 👀 Weak link in this collection for me also is Northanger Abbey, aptly named 😂 nah jk NA fans dun come for me P&P is a top fave book for me, but i didn't enjoy NA. imo it rly does show in the text that it was her first novel, despite her reworking it for publication. i donated the book after that semester 🙈

So glad you enjoyed!! Yeah I was surprised to see how similar they ended up being next to some of the ILNP shades, but still very different when it comes to the actual finish! I didn’t see anyone else mention Emma & Persuasion stained them though so maybe I got funky bottles?? But still worth mentioning just in case 😅 Oh yes def a good idea to pick these up during a sale!! Those 3 are 😍😍😮‍💨 But ooo tea!! It was probably obviously by how I didn’t mention anything about the inspo/books, but I haven’t read them 🙈 except P&P but yearsssss ago so I don’t remember it lmao 😅 I didn’t know that about NA though!

i have ILNP Downtown so i might skip out on Persuasion! esp now i think i did see a IG swatcher mention the staining too! but i do want P&P 👀 they rly gave the best book to the best polish in this collection 😆 i hope u get time to reread P&P sometime; the payoff gets me every time 🥰 HAHA yeah i was not expecting to dish Austen tea on a nail polish vid but here we are 🤣 i swear everything i learned abt Northanger Abbey, i learned against my will 💀 i still don't get why they chose THAT as a text out of ALL the novels. The prof seemed to genuinely enjoy the novel despite acknowledging all its unsubtleties/flaws tho 💀 i got a good grade in that class but literally not a single sentence or paragraph of NA made an impression 😬 so yes i don't recc NA to anyone who's not alr an Austen fan 😂

Loove this collection! I only picked up Sense & Sensibility, but meow I want Persuasion and Pride & Prejudice. 😂 Not only do I love these, but I’m a big Jane Austen fan. I laughed out loud in comparisons bc I currently am wearing mooncat’s mermaid bait. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 Rogue is honestly so great. But it’s just a slightlyyy different look. I think these are great if you prefer your shimmers more full coverage with less VNL ✨

Beautiful swatches! And I appreciate hearing your thoughts on each of them as well as your comparisons. I love Jane Austen, but attempted to exercise self restraint in the pre-order, only picking up Emma and Pride & Prejudice. I'm on the fence about shimmers but the colour shifts on these ones are amazing!!! There is a small business in the province in life in that sells some of Rogue's polishes (not these ones at the moment) and I'll have to get some of their flakies!

Im shocked you haven't tried Rogue Lacquer soon enough, but this collection is very pretty, especially Pride and Prejudice. I would recommend doing a matte top coat, but i had trouble with bubbles the same as you had with a top coat. Not sure what was going on with that

i know right!! maybe one day i’ll try out some of their other finishes. and ooo i didn’t even think of doing matte but i can see that looking soo cool! that is weird though you also had bubble issues with your topcoat, I was using HT’s Glossy Taco which is super low so i’ve gotten some bubbles in other manis, but now I worry it might be the polishes??

I got all of these except NA & Emma. I might regret Emma, but I’m good…I think. I played around with putting a Cirque jelly close to the color as an undie to being out the base color on P&P, S&S and Persuasion and I really like it. ❤ your swatches. They’re so PRETTY! I forgot, I got their matte tc too w my order and it’s a great matte tc and they look really good matte. Will I wear them matte is the question?

How are they SO smooth?! I love glowey shimmers but I hate seeing particles. It's like when a graphic is blown up without the DPI to support it. I love HT but their shimmers are so apparent. I love love love how smooth these are. I usually limit myself to only 2-3 small hauls per year (across all brands) and the Cirque sale got me so no rogue for me but awe man it's going on the list for fall! (I think gloweys are so well suited for indoor low light. They are great middle of winter solstice long dark hours kind of shades/collection)

I really think it’s this chrome shimmer pigment they use!! And omg I totally get what you mean haha shimmer particles never bothered me much before but now I can’t unsee it 🙈 I hope you can grab the ones you want later this year, totally agree they’re so perfect for indoors/low light!! Sorry, but I don’t like a gold shimmer shift. I do like the green shift in Sense & Sensibility & I like Pride & Prejudice. The rest are just meh for me. Thanks for the gorgeous swatches. Your skittle was cool looking!

I’m a sucker for anything Jane Austen! So I love this whole collection! I think Sense & Sensibility is my fav! The only one I would 💯 pass on is Northanger Abbey. I am with you…just not into chrome type finish with reg nail polish. Just too brush strokey for me.

I really loved when swatchers made videos up for this collection, but my impression of Rogue wasn't the best after getting my first flakie one and it being so thick to apply... but aside from that, I really AM trying to shop smarter, so I know other brands for the shimmers or to settle for ones that are close enough to pass on these. The only thing now that made me interested again is when you put them all (aside from the silver) in a skittle. :'> As always, thank you for making these videos~

Aw I’m sorry you didn’t have a great experience with their flakies! From videos I’ve seen they never seemed super thick so I wonder if it was a bad batch or bottle :/ but yeah totally understand that! These are beautiful but still very similar to other shimmers on the market, I think they’re great for someone who is just getting into shimmers since these are more opaque than other brands! But I can totally understand not getting them if you already have some hehe I just couldn’t help myself 🙈

Not exactly! I would say those butterfly mani shimmers are more like any other shimmers I shared in the video, like from ILNP, Phoenix etc where they’re more sheer and the base peeks thru a little more!

I developed nail polish allergy recently, where if I paint my nails the white part extends and separates from the nailbed...I'm so sad to have to give up my favorite hobby, it was a form of self expression for me :(((((
