Frank was originally critical of Elvis music but needed him to help the shows sagging ratings. He was charmed by Elvis and they became close friends. When Elvis got secretly married Frank sent his jet to fly he and Priscilla to Vegas for the wedding. They did many charity events in coming years. When Elvis died Frank said, "I was just a singer, Elvis changed music and culture, he was a kind and generous man, my dear friend who I will miss,". Thanks
You need to see the whole show with Elvis ,he walks out onto the stage in his uniform just about takes your breath away ,then he does two songs Stuck on You ,and dances in it ,and Fame and Fortune
A classic performance. I never really cared much for Sinatra or his music. I was mostly just bored by him, but that is what happens to most singers after you have seen Elvis, especially in person. He was incomparable. ❤❤❤
this is great and i believe one of the sweetest moments in television history its unfortunate you got such a short edit of it without the small conversation & intro and without the other two songs elvis performed on it frank paid elvis $125,000 for this appearance the most paid to any entertainer for a national tv appearance at that time thanks :)
I see folks have already mentioned this but you really have to find Elvis performing Fame and Fortune and Stuck on You on this show. Simply amazing to watch.
Ive heard that ol blue eye's couldn't stand elvis until he actually met him and after that occurrence he couldn't get enough of him, frankie is great but the hillbilly cat is on another level and that says alot cause FS was a massive icon&entertainer in his own right.TCB&TLC
Oh nooo is that all you got? Its missing 2 good songs from Elvis and a lot of them talking..u should look for the complete one all you got was the end. When you find the good one you're gonna love it ! 👍✌️
You really do need to watch the whole Elvis segment on this 1960 Frank Sinatra 'Welcome Home Elvis' TV special. When he initially comes out in his dress army uniform the crowd goes nuts! Elvis sings the two songs which comprise his new single then after some banter they go into this duet, priceless ❤
Sinatra had Elvis on for his ratings & he may have changed his mind about Elvis' music later on, but he originally accused his music of corrupting young people by saying “His kind of music is deplorable, a rancid smelling aphrodisiac … it fosters almost universally negative and destructive directions in young people.” 1,000 cheers for Elvis' marvelous response to Sinatra's negative comments about Elvis' music --- in typical calm, polite Elvis fashion, he cleverly said “I admire the man. He has a right to say what he wants to say. He is a great success and a fine actor, but I think he shouldn’t have said it. He’s mistaken about this. This is a trend, just the same as he faced when he started years ago." An interesting observation by a reactor was that Sinatra was pitch perfect (he was), Sinatra was louder than Elvis (he was) & Sinatra was flat (absolutely!).
I just love this performance, the way they fed off each other and had fun is amazing. Like you said, the chairman and the king. Couldn’t have been better. TCB⚡️
@@therewatchprojectEven if you can't do it as a reaction I hope you are able to check it out. I'm sure you will enjoy. Oh, you referred to "Elvis the Pelvis" as a ridiculous moniker. I agree and so did Elvis. There's an interview where Elvis is asked about that and he says something like it being "the most childish expression he heard coming from an adult". Here's the link and timestamp if you wanna check that out. It's audio only but it's still really interesting. Elvis is really young here. He mentions in the interview that he has only been performing about a year and a half or so. It's a RU-vid video and it's mentioned about the 5:40 mark. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jUCAYBE5CMU.htmlsi=YG0ktabr230Rs1Vl Thanks again. 😊
I've said many times, I love your reactions to Elvis, but you missed the whole beginning of this video. This is the end. You have to find the whole video and react to Elvis singing two songs. It's great. Funny story. Elvis' leading lady in G.I. Blues was Juliette Prowse, who Frank was dating at the time. Then later on, Elvis made a movie with Nancy Sinatra, Frank's daughter. Funny how that works.
i see some misinformation about how frank felt about elvis here in the comment section frank became friends with elvis, they actually became close, as did nancy sinatra she became a very close friend to elvis who still to this day defends him and pays tribute to him online (she even follows my elvis tribute account on twitter) don't forget, sammy davis jr loved elvis and was very close to him also elvis earned all of their respect & their friendship after returning from the army when they all took the time to actually get to know him im just a singer elvis presley is the embodiment of the whole american culture ~ frank sinatra
Never a fan of Frank Sinatra; he was closer to my mother's generation than mine. Although, my mother who was a big fan of Frank became a huge fan of Elvis & kind of forgot about Frank. Elvis was always a gentleman; he never spoke negatively about other artists. "His kind of music is deplorable, a rancid smelling aphrodisiac. It fosters almost totally negative and destructive reactions in young people.” - Frank Sinatra, 1956"
@@mrchips4489 im just a singer elvis presley is the embodiment of the whole american culture ~ frank sinatra frank completely changed his opinion of elvis after he returned from the army & frank got to know him also sammy davis jr loved elvis & was his biggest cheerleader im sure he set frank straight over his feelings about elvis
Yep, Frank couldn't stand rock n rollers, and when specifically asked about Elvis, he said Elvis was one of those Rock n Roll goons also, and we'll see if heclasts, which I've listened to myself on replays. Apparently, he was made to host the Welcome Back Elvis Special, which didn't go down well as Elvis completely out sang him. Also, apparently, as a get back, Elvis made sure Frank's girlfriend Juliet Prowse was in one of his movies, and they started dating which upset the Ratpack and it's been alledged the Ratpack and the Memphis Mafia went at it a bit, Lol!
yeah Elvis pounded Franks daughter Nancy a couple of times later o and Frank knew it was inevitable and he had a fling with Franks fiancé as well during the shooting of GI Blues and almost got caught couple of times in the trailer..
Sinatra is brilliant of course in his own lounge singer way but Elvis was a force of nature. Also while Sinatra could handle Love Me Tender he could not attempt Jailhouse Rock could he.Elvis is iconic.Sinatra isn't.
