With Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, the Xenomorph queen could technically be considered a Disney princess...

Despite its flaws, AVP is a guilty pleasure of mine. Even though it lacks the suspense of Alien, the gore and brutality of Predator, or the stellar cast of either of those films, it's the perfect film to watch on those nights when you just want to hang put, munch some popcorn or pork rinds, and drink a few beers. Now, if only someone would find a way to work the Terminator into a three-way brawl with Aliens and Predators, that would be the ULTIMATE sci-fi/action/horror flick for adrenaline junkies everywhere.

Never understood all the hate for this film! I really enjoyed it and thought it was very well acted and directed!

Predator hierarchy goes like this: 1,Unblooded - children still in training that have never made a kill on they're own. 2, Youngbloods - teenagers that have made less significant kills (xenomorphs are the ultimate prey to predators) that must under go the ritual hunt in a pair of 3 to earn the right to carry a plasma caster (shoulder cannon the most powerful weapon in a predator's arsenal and the sign of adulthood). 3, Blooded - adult predator with at least one xenomorph kill (alien). 4, Elite -adult predator with at least one Xenomorph queen kill and now has the right to be chosen for a mate. Female predators choose their mates from the time they become blooded but males do not get to choose and only earn the right to be chosen at elite status and beyond. Hence the more trophies a male has the better chance he has to be chosen by a female. 5, Enforcer - an elite predator with at least 3 queen kills and 1 xenomorph hive cleansing alone. Enforcers have 3 jobs within the clan. 1 to investigate and clean up after a failed hunt if the self destruct bomb doesn't go off. 2 hunt down bad bloods (criminal predators that break the code.) The bio mask that all predators wear records everything. 3, to cleanse xenomorph hives to keep the population down and under predator control. 1 Elder enforcer is also chosen to be the next clan leader of the clan if the leader dies or retires. Wolf the predator in AVP 2 is an enforcer. 6, Clanleader - adult predator with at least 5 queen kills and 3 hive cleansing are allowed to either start they're own clan or challenge another clanleader for control of a current clan. 7, clan Elder - retired predators of at least elite status that no longer hunt ( too old or injured to hunt safely by themselves ) they now either teach the unblooded and youngbloods or progress predator technology. 8, council members - highly respected clanleaders that retired and were elected by current clanleaders to rule over the homeworld and keep the clans in check 13 total. 9, badbloods - criminal predators that have broken the code and are either marked for death or become outcasts depending on the severity of the crime. The 3 predators in the movie Predators are badbloods ( no honor) as is the giant predator in the last movie the predator. Many outcast predators have banded together to create they're own clans and fight the traditionalist predators. This why the bad bloods are using dna strands to upgrade themselves. The traditionalists only use the dna therapy to fix debilitating injuries from hunts or on non predator inductees into clans (very rare). If Lex was not on her home world she would have most likely been taken in by the clanleader as an honored member because of the mark given to her. As for Harigen and Dutch they are considered as high prize trophies only to be hunted by elites or higher. Hope this helps..🙇

The predators were watching because it was a test for the 3 young ones to see if they could hunt. The last young predator is called Scar and the big boss predator standing by the ship is called Wolf.

Predators are sentient and intelligent, aliens are like insects operating on instinct. This is why a woman can beat aliens but it take a man to defeat the predator lol.

Legend has it that if you listen very closely to the soundtrack, you can hear the exact moment that the Alien series lost its last shred of dignity. I suspect it's when the Predator starts swinging the Alien around by its tail, but I can't confirm it for sure.

This movie and it's sequel (AvPR) are it's own thing and more of "What if" movies, they have nothing to do with the main Alien or Predator storyline.

Ok, I'm afraid I'm gonna poop on stuff a little. AVP 1&2(2 is Requiem) Aren't considered Canon to the Alien franchise. Both Ridley Scott and the studio didn't consider them so. They are considered to be an amusing experiment or side line basically, a what if, if you will. I personally think their both enjoyable movies although I prefer the first one as I think it's put together better and is just more solid of a film. I must admit, now Disney owns the rights I don't know how they consider them? Canon or not? I don't think they would though, if they did they'd never get Ridley Scott to make any more! He truly despises them and thinks they're an insult to his original vision! He also thinks they were just made to cash in! Which is probably true! 😁

It's not a good Alien movie and it's not a good Predator movie but it is a pretty good action sci-fi movie in it's own right. I think people are generally too harsh on it.

the next Avsp Movie was recorded way too dark make sure your brightness levels are Turned up high enough... I think the only moviemoment i dont like was the end of alien covenant.. Otherwise I like them all and they all fit with each other,,, even skynet And the terminator universe fits in..

I rewatched the AVP movies after seeing them for the first time over ten years ago and they weren't as bad as I remembered. It's the casting mostly. They look dated. Bishop and the Bleaker guy were the only two I'd cast.

I really liked AvP because of Sanaa Lathan's character and her interaction with the Predator, it expanded on what we saw in Predator 2 and also the comics because in the comics there was a human female that was accepted into the Yatjua (Predator) and considered blooded after killing an alien. she even went on hunts with them too. I really would've liked to see the sequel expand on this, but unfortunately they chose not to.

Despite a mixed impression I have a soft spot guilty pleasure for Alien vs Predator. Its a cool novelty because crossover rarely happen, Frankenstein meets the Wolfman, King Kong vs Godzilla, Freddy vs Jason, Marvel and DC been doing cross overs in movies more recently.

The three teenage Yautja (Predator) are classified as unblooded since this was their first hunt. If they complete their hunts they become blooded and are accepted into their respective clans. As they move up the rankings they will eventually be allowed to hunt solo and of course if they live long enough lead a clan of their own after collecting numerous trophies. Killing a Xenomorph Queen is also another fast way for them to advance in the ranks.

26:50 They absolutely were watching all of that to see how it played out. In their culture, you don't interfere in a hunt, especially when you've just seen two hunters earn their blooding. They're super freakin' social-Darwinist like that, they consider it a humiliating show of no confidence to jump in and help someone. It's equivalent to kill-stealing, and in a race that values ceremonial hunting prowess above all else that's a killing insult. That ship never stopped watching what was going on in that pyramid.

I do not know if many would notice it. The last remaining predator out of the 3 was so scared when it saw the Queen because they are still young. This may be their first hunt of Xenos to earn the shoulder cannon. Fighting a Queen in the first trial is way too much for a Unblooded or a young blood. But still, it managed to deal with it somehow.

You two are adorable. I love how he looks over at her when something is about to go down/ twists/ interesting parts. He clearly is sharing a passion with her and I love that. From one sci-fi buff to another, HOLD ON TO HER! #gemz

The 3 predators in this movie were young bloods (teenagers) going through a right of passage to earn their plasma casters (shoulder cannons) as a final sign of adult hood. If they passed they would become blooded (adults) in they're clan. The one who kills the queen becomes an elite ( higher status in the clan.

Fun Fact: Colin Salmon who plays Maxwell Stafford in this movie also played James Shade in Resident Evil (2002) and both characters die the same way, cut into hundreds of diamond shaped pieces :)

What your watching is probably the last well done with a good story and quality, Aliens vs Predators movie. Because the rest after this one looks low budget and cheap with no story at all. I'm not saying it's the best movie, but i like this one just as much as Predators 1 and 2 with Schwarzenegger and Glover. And the Aliens sequels after the first two with Sigourney Weaver was hot garbage.

They took it out of the film but they were going to point out that those 3 main Predators are teenagers. Paul said that once a child Predator gets a certain number of skulls from armed and dangerous humans it movies up to hunt Aliens when it is a teenager, hunting Danny Glover or Arnold Schwarzenegger is a very dangers hunt but hunting an Alien is a lot more dangers. That is what the Predator culture is all about, "hunting and killing things that are hunting and trying to kill you back".

Or you won’t be able to see a damn thing that happens for most of it It’s important to me that you (and as many people as possible) know this. Personally I think the movie still fits in well enough. I mean it isn't even clear if the engineers necessarily invented the black goo that was the base for Davids' Alien research project. They used it as a weapon but it could very well be something that occured naturally on a planet we just haven't seen in the franchise so far. Also in "Alien" when the expedition finds the remains of the wrecks' pilot they state that it was fossilized, meaning that ship has probably crashed a very long time ago, definitely long before the events of "Prometheus" and "Covenant". And yet aliens have been aboard that ship. Add to that that the "Covenant" aliens are bigger and a a bit different looking than the ones from earlier movies. So they are related but not the absolute same thing. Maybe the Aliens from the AvP movies and the ones from the original Alien trilogy are the creatures natural form while the ones from "Prometheus" and "Covenant" have been tempered with first by the engineers and later on by David who quasi reverse-engineered the creatures. With this premise each and every movie of all franchises involved, "Alien", "Predator", "AvP" and "Prometheus" fit together without getting in each others' way. So the timeline would be: 1. Predator 2. Predator 2 3. Alien versus Predator 4. Alien versus Predator 2 5. Predators 6. The Predator 7. Prometheus 8. Alien Covenant 9. Alien 10. Aliens 11. Alien 3 12. Alien Resurrection It works out just fine.

The way I see it, Predator 2 beat Ridley Scott to the punch. That one skull cemented the lore that predators were hunting xenomorphs long before Alien Covenant was even a twinkle in Ridley Scott's eye. So I have always refused to let Alien Covenant RETCON the origins of the Xenomorphs. But I'm kind if a nerd that way.

I don't mind AvP. Mashing up 2 world's will always create some story conflicts. Don't put a lot of mind to it. The avp movies are entertaining and won't let that ruin the movies 😁. Take it for what it is, entertainment.

Huh, I never noticed how fast chestbursters were born and how quickly they grew into full sized Xenos before, it took way longer in the original movie for that to happen, Kane was unconscious for hours and then fully awake for a while before his chestburster came out, and then multiple hours for the Xeno to grow, here all that seems to happen in like 30 minutes 🤔

Definitely I prefer being killed by a predator than being killed by an alien.

As much as this movie is a guilty pleasure of mine, I was always sad that they didn’t follow the storyline of the novels or of the video games; both of which were set much closer to Ripley’s timeline than our modern one. Also, one Xenomorph taking out two Yautja is some major power creep. In the books at least, a one v. one fight between the two was usually pretty one-sided... in favor of the Yautja.

I'm with Mrs Movies. It would've been so cool to have a silent film with just the aliens and predators. Is the dialogue we get really that much better than silence? I'd argue silence would be a massive improvement over some of the nonsense these twonks say.

The predators in this movie were basically rookies out on their first hunt, which is why they got destroyed so easily by a couple aliens.

The 2 Predators who gave trophies to the 2 humans who survived in Predator 2 and AVP were Predators who are much older, far more experienced and with higher status in their culture. The Predator in this movie AVP...was extremely older thats why he looked the way he did. As well with him still being alive to reach that age he likely has very high status in their culture.

After Aliens and Predator 2 came out, D.C. Comics released a series of comic books with the superheroes fighting against aliens and predators. About this time they released a video game where you had all three fighting in the same game, you could play as a Predator or Human. Then a series of books were published set in a universe where all three existed together. The first book sortof establishes the main human protagonist which the woman in this movie is based on.

As an Alien fan, I think it fits in fine with the other prequels. The mutating goo from Prometheus rapidly spawns a 'super face-hugger' when gestated in Shaw, and it creates a new Xenomorph type when it chestbursts an Engineer. So who's to say the Yautja didn't come across the same substance (or even hunt Engineers in their heyday and take theirs), and use it on humans to create the common human-born Xenomorph and eventually some queens for their temples.

I really like this one, Paul killed it with making it his own while remaining faithful to the source material I could have gone without the "ugly motherfucker" but it was still fun. The Practical and Digital work is impressive for it's time. The biggest mistake however was the rating, it was like pg-13 when it should have been a Hard R.

One good thing the AVP movies try to do is justify Ash in Alien. Up until the twist reveal that Ash has orders to bring back an alien sample, crew expendable, there's a pretense that the distress call from LV426 was a chance encounter. However, Ash's order implies that the Company (Weyland-Yutani) has some idea what the creature is and at the very least had their ships on alert for any signs of them, even before they investigate the signal. It's even written into their contracts that they must investigate if they encounter one. There's still a lot of gaps to fill, and the obsession with the xenomorphs loses credibility when they're equally aware of the Yautja (predators), who actually have superior military technology. However, they did try to add to the mythos of the existing films rather than rewrite it.

They cut out the scene where the predator actually jokes with the girl by using the Alien body to startle her and laugh. That scene was priceless. Aniway, I've always considered this movie just ok but obvious fan service so never taken it seriously enough to be disappointed. Objectively is not a good movie with bad acting and a too simple and repetitive plot. I don't really dislike it because it introduced a cool aspect about the predators. On the negative side though I think they missed the opportunity to use many characters. It wasn't really that nice to kill off everybody within 10 minutes. Some characters definitely had some potential.

Personally I would have to say that the AVP series would have to exist in it's own universe for the simple fact that the two sets of films take place in two different timelines. AVP is set 100 years before the events of Prometheus/Covenant. Prometheus was supposed to set the stage for the beginning of the first Alien film with the Engineer's ships and having one crash, but I personally feel they botched it by not having it take place on the same planet as Alien. It ends up going in a totally different direction as far as I'm concerned. AVP on the otherhand, I don't believe really answers a question of where did the Xenomorphs come from, but I thought it did present an interesting notion that maybe the Predator's created them as the ultimate prey. There were things in Prometheus I liked, I thought the Engineer race was a little interesting, but in the end both Prometheus and Covenant just fell flat for my taste. Just stupidly predictable given how dumb everyone's decision making was, and the fact that they really didn't tred any new ground. For me the Prometheus and Covenant movies were just as bland as the concept of the alien creation presented within them. I'm not always a fan of remakes but I think those movies need a remake/re-imagining.

This has always been one of my favorite movies since I first saw it. I hate all the Prometheus prequels that went off in weird directions that made no sense to me and totally ignored this films back story. For me the Prometheus films don't exist and I just ignore them. I would love to see a sequel where the predators come back to earth and recognize Sanaa lathan as a fellow hunter and enlist her in a battle against either more aliens or the larger predator race from the Predators film. It's seems a waste to not use her character again. Unfortunately Sigourney is a bit too old to play Ripley again but could appear as an ancestor of Ellen Ripley just an idea

Back then this movie was better than people said... (kinda like van Helsing.. kinda trash, but still a lot of fun and many cool practical effects) and just imagine..the movie just about Alex and the Yautja ...just like in the old books with Machiko Noguchi.

TECHNICALLY this takes place after Predator 1 & 2 and before the Alien movies.

Everybody talks about how the tunnel would be a fun slide, until you realize it's at a perfect 30 degree angle, and is 2,000 miles long. Pretty much it's a freezing near 2,000 mile straight drop, with a rocky bottom waiting for you.

chronologically it's way before any alien movie. like around our time. the spikes on an yautja face? sign of age. look how the dreadlocks that are supposed as like whiskers for cats, is longer on the elder. the markings etc... all signs of one that saw some shits.

The plot of Prometheus is just a rehash of AvP with the whole "old and ill Weyland leads an expedition to an ancient and remote structure where they find a frozen alien" stuff...

The movie reaction i was waiting for! I remembered when i 1st saw this movie, im in LOVE with the Celtic Predator 10:45! I even asked my dad to buy the figurine but too bad it wasnt available in Singapore..he was strong n the coolest Predator. He even gave the Alien a gd fight but sadly he died. The late Mr Kevin Peter Hall was the BEST predator to me but i got to give credit to the new actor who played the Scar Predator. He did an incredible job! We all know when Mdm's cam were zooming in there's an interesting reaction coming up n Sir will be laughing aftwards😂 ur reaction in every vids was EVERYTH! THNK U for this upload Sir & Mdm!🙏

The gestation period of the alien is proportional to how much the actor gets paid. If you're not a main character, you basically wake up to a chestburster scene.

So I know we'll disagree here, but I thought you might appreciate seeing how one old-school fan of both franchises rates the lot of these. A lot of it has to do with how respectful they are of their predecessors, which happens to be the same sticking point of many Star Wars fans. *TIER 1* The original classics. They establish the mythos and set the gold standard for both franchises. You can stop at these and end on a high note. *1.* Aliens *2.* Alien *3.* Predator *4.* Predator 2 *TIER 2* Competent quality and fairly respectful of the mythos, but doesn't really excel at anything beyond some cool visuals and decent action scenes. Run-of-the-mill summer flick that just happens to be part of the franchise. *5.* Predators *TIER 3* Very disrespectful, but becomes watchable once you get over the fact that it pisses all over Aliens by killing its main characters off-screen. Strikes the right tone to cap off the Ripley trilogy. *6.* Alien 3 *TIER 4* The pain begins. Dubious quality and utterly disrespectful of everything that came before them. No amount of production value can save these dumpster fires. *7.* Alien vs. Predator *8.* Alien: Resurrection *9.* Alien: Covenant *10.* Alien vs. Predator: Requiem *11.* Prometheus *12.* The Predator

I love AVP (2004) more than Alien 3 & Alien Resurrection because of the backstory taking place in the modern times (i.e 2004) Also the cameo of Bishop

The "unarmed" guy got slashed because he pulled a weapon on the predators before falling down the ice shaft. This made him a threat in the eyes of the predator, and they're not ones for giving second chances.

I'm an alien fan more than a predator fan (but I am both) and I much prefer this to the prometheus timeline. The great thing about both franchises is how 'alien' and expansive the universe is. There is something vast and terrible out there in the dark that we are not ready to meet. So the David origin for the xenomorphs makes that go away. These aren't a taste of the timeless horrors of the universe, but essentially a story about a unscrupulous employee of a massive corporation dumping their waste on some previously untouched bit of nature. Its not that that storyline is necessarily bad, it just feels like a mean retcon that reduces the xenomorph to a shadow of itself.

I watch this movie every christmas, it's become a christmas tradition at this point.

so predators gain rank through battle and trophy collection. I'd guess these 3 predators were young bloods (inexperienced adolescents type predators) trying to prove themselves by collecting alien trophies. I know that one of the key rituals is to collect alien warrior or higher rank trophies and then another 1 is to kill/collect an alien queen and the another rank is at 3 alien Queen kills and so on. the predators at the end are higher ranking members of that clan and the Cape dude with the spines would be a clan leader (veteran high rank and usually much older). they can also special in certain weapon types becoming brawlers or stalkers or hunters etc some predators are said to be hundreds of years old maybe even up 1k ps alien's also have different type based off the type of creature they spawned and whether the queen gave a special chemical to make them into a specific alien... like alien drone (from low level creature), alien warrior (from higher level creature), praetorian (special hive defender alien), ravager (extremely dangerous strong big alien) and a few other types.

As an Alien fan i enjoy this movie even though my favorite creature in this movie is dead😅.

To clarify any continuity issues you may be having: Ridley Scott basically made Prometheus to retcon this movie (and it's sequel) out of existence. It might be too late to say this, but you really REALLY REALLLY do NOT NEED to watch AVP: Requiem. It's bad. Very very very very bad. I rank it just above "Highlander 2: The Quickening" in the worst moviegoing experiences of my life.

The best that I can say about this movie is that it's okay. When the Predators and Xenomorphs actually fight, it's pretty awesome. Everything else? Good God it's bad. In the Aliens the people from Wayland-Yutani said that there was no record of the Xenomorphs ever existing, yet this movie takes place hundreds of years earlier, on Earth, and they've been bred on Earth since the days of the Ancient Incans. In Predator 2 Gary Busey says that Predators are attracted to heat and conflict, yet the pyramid was built in Antarctica. In Predator 1 & 2 it was established that Predators only hunt humans who are armed in order to consider them worthy prey. These Predators didn't seem to care if the humans were armed or not. Absolutely everything that was established lore from the earlier Alien and Predator films was completely ignored. Would it REALLY have been too difficult to do a faithful adaptation of the novel "Alien vs Predator: Prey"? It's set in the distant future, on a distant terraformed planet, which has a very hot climate. The Predators send pods with Xenomorph eggs to the planet ahead of time allowing for a xenomorph infestation, which they later show up in order to hunt. Circumstances force a Predator to team up with a female human (who happens to be an expert in martial arts) in order to survive. DONE. No need to set it in modern times and mess with the lore of not one but TWO mythologies.

I loved the little detail of the Leader Predator (Clan Leader/Master Hunter) gave the woman a Predator weapon as opposed to when Danny Glover got an old human weapon that was a Predator Trophy. Danny killed a Predator, and as a Gift of Honor they gave him a trophy from a Predator. In the culture of the Predator race a Bloodening is a right of passage. Marking themselves and gaining the honor of using more advanced weapons for a successful hunt. She killed a Xenomorph, and helped in the death of a Xenomorph Queen. So she got the prize of a Predator. She was given the weapon of a Predator which is part of the rite of passage. She was marked and killed a Queen so she can now use a Predator weapon.

28:25...guys surely it's the other way around. You can forgive the Xenomorphs because they're acting on instinct (they kill to survive just like Sharks and Wolves) whereas the Predators (for all their code of honour) are just killing for fun...like Humans and Pussy Cats do.

A Yautja will kill a Xenomorph before he kills a human... Infact most "Wolf-Yautjas" (the Predator in the First movie with Arnold) are actually training in preparation to hunt down Xenomorphs

My personal opinion, I think Prometheus felt more like a reboot than a sequel/prequel. The timeline doesn't fit. Unless there is a time travel element I missed somewhere or they're saying the xenomorphs have multiple origins. Don't get me wrong; I love all of these movies and I hope they continue making them! But for me, Prometheus is a reboot. Also, I believe the Predator in the cape with the spiny face was just... Old. One of the granddaddy/clan leaders.

This whole Alien vs Predator concept goes back to Predator 2 where it was thought to be a joke/easter egg. When they created the Predator ship for the final battle scene, they thought of a trophy room with different human and extraterrestrial trophy heads there. When someone at 21st Century Fox came up with the idea of placing an Alien prop head from Aliens there as the Alien franchise like the Predator one are both run by 21st Century Fox, so no copyright issues here. The fans of both franchises liked the idea/gag of Predators hunting Aliens and then a comic series appeard later based on this idea which gave birth to the movie franchise.

While this movie was dumb, it was fun and dumb. Unfortunately, AvP2 veers deep and hard into frustratingly stupid and bad territory. It made me want to break my laptop, while I was in Iraq of all places.

Okay, chronological timeline of storytelling is a bit confusing to me, help out guys... Is it like, Engineers -> Predators -> humans -> Aliens?

This is not set after resurrection.... This is back when it was just the Weyland company, not Weyland-Yutani. AVP is set in modern/near future.

If you wanted see the Arnold Schwarzenegger from predator i know you dont do games but um there's a (Predator hunting grounds) games there's Arnold future he's still alive in the year 2025
