First Time Watching Big Bang Theory Ep: 1x1 Reaction/Review!

Whats up everybody,
My girl Kim is a big fan of Big Bang Theory and she wanted me to watch it so I thought it would be a cool idea to do a full length reaction/review of the first episode! I am pretty excited and if you guys are fans of the show comment below if you want to see more! Please give support to the show and its creators at HBO MAX. As its tough to create great entertainment and should always be supported.
P.S. Sorry about the awkwardness, just the first time we are doing this and it will take a bit to get used to being on camera like that.

They had actual scientists working on the script with the writers in order to make sure it was as accurate as possible

One of the things that made me a huge TBBT fan is that most of the references -- science, comic books, science fiction TV -- were accurate. Some of the conversations they've had about Superman or Star Trek are conversations I've had with my (also nerdy) friends. Before this show, the TV "nerd" stereotype was a guy with thick glasses, a short-sleeved plaid shirt buttoned up to the collar, a pocket protector stuffed with pens, and a nasal voice. (See: Steve Urkel.) TBBT was the first sitcom that treated nerds as individuals. I've known (and/or been) all four of those characters at some stage of my life.

Yea, Thats what I figured, it seems like this was a stepping stone for the "nerd culture" to become more mainstream.

So happy to see someone else reacting to TBBT! You won't be disappointed! They hired physicist Dr. Richard Salzburg from UCLA as a "science consultant" for the show to make sure the whiteboards are accurate, as well as the science in general.

Yea, Im really enjoying the show so far. And I didnt know about the physicist being hired as a consultant. Thats awesome, now even more hyped for the science parts. 😃

I was always into sitcoms but this one is of a different category. It's on a different level. The only reason in ended, was that Jim Parsons was done playing the part and the producers said with no Sheldon, there would be no show.

If you keep watching the show, you'll see the gradual paring of the excellent Sheldon-Penny relationship. It's one of the best friendship/"brother-sister" relationships in TV history.

They also had a completely different Pilot episode made with other characters. The first scene is at the sperm bank is from the first Pilot. This makes sheldon a bit of a different character.

Kim, I think you said you've watched the whole series - is this your first time re-watching? And have you watched Young Sheldon? I was skeptical of Young Sheldon when I first heard they were doing a spin-off but it turned out to be a really great show!

Hi victorsixtythree! Yes its my first time re-watching from the very start! I'll usually start mid season and re-watch from there so some of the first season episodes are first time refreshers! I have not watched Young Sheldon I had the similar impression and was iffy about it that it would be a bit too kid-friendly but I'm definitely open to give it a try! What was your impression about it? -Kim 😊

@@redblacknwhite1220 I REALLY like Young Sheldon. It's shot in a different style than Big Bang Theory - it's not filmed in a studio in front of a live audience and it doesn't have a laugh track. The actor they got to play young Sheldon is amazing and the rest of the cast is great (the actress Zoe Perry who plays Sheldon's mother is actually the daughter of Laurie Metcalf who played Sheldon's mother on BBT!) Jim Parsons does voice-over narration as adult Sheldon recalling his childhood. A lot of the episodes tie in really nicely with BBT - the season two finale aired on TV right after the BBT series finale and was an amazing companion episode (I won't go into more detail but believe me!).

Sheldon was gaining knowledge of various things so the more he understood, the more annoying he would become. But he gains points in other areas. You will see

Yea I definitely feel some one liners I heard here and there when Kim watched this show, he is so much more confrontational and arrogant, but if that's part of a character arc, I'm pretty excited to see it. Cause that's a unique take, most arcs have people become better.

@@redblacknwhite1220 It is good so far, While Sheldon and Leonard may be the main characters. Raj steels the show with his "not being able to talk to girls unless drunk" anxiety moments this far.

This is classic enjoyable entertaining real people folklore odd people with plain sight odd with problematic sexual motivated sarcastic funny life lessons life journey people theme helping each other friendship to romance priceless heartwarming heartbreaking by hanging out and talking to each but not too sexual theme show
