Gabrielle Union did an Instagram live and said when focus groups watched bring it on, people wanted a bigger look into the clovers storyline. The producers made them shoot fake trailer scenes of the clovers to make it appear that they were in the movie more than they were. That’s so sad.
She also said that they wanted her to be a rlly agressive “angry black woman” stereotype and she had to fight to tone it down as her character is obviously in the right and she won’t be a coon on the big screen 😭
This film is so ahead of its time. They could have easily had the Toros win, or forced a fake friendship with Torrence and Isis but instead they were realistic instead and I love that. In a compeitive support, cheating (no matter who is responsible) is not okay - and it's unlikely two rivals would be bff's or have a 'smooth transition' after that history.
FOR THA CULTUREEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!! I grew up wanting to be a cheerleader because of this movie and before that i never seen a black cheerleader. I grew up always being the bigger girl who loved to dance and in highschool I was the captain of our cheer team for two years. This is literally one of my favorites movies of all time☺️
I always used to root for Torrance and Missy to end up together. Also, both Kirsten Dunst and Eliza Dushku are connected with vampires, on Interview with the Vampire, and Buffy, respectively.
So many opportunities to just add a lesbian character and none was taken my child heart and my adult heart still haven’t forgiven them still one of my favorites tho🙄😂
Bring It On is one of the only movies I can think of from my childhood that has the black people (women specifically) win in the end without a white savior. They were simply the best and won. PERIODT
I still am in awe that the dude who played the love interest, Jesse Bradford, dated Azealia Banks. That's what I think of every time I see his face. And Swimfan is one of my favorite movies.
Feeling so sad because of my recent breakup and Valentine’s day getting near, but Chu never fails to put a smile on my face. Chu you’re def my happy pill ❤ always look forward to your reactions!
I love your reactions! I was so excited to see you doing bring it on! I watched this so much on my VHS tape as a kid that I still know the lines 20 years later..
You are my favorite reactor by far! just found your channel a couple weeks ago. I'm very grateful that you're mixing in these fun movies too cause im a chicken and haven't watched many of the horror reactions lol, but its so much fun watching your videos
I remember seeing this movie in the theaters and how quotable it was. I was too young to get some of the jokes but any time I watched this movie I know all the dialogue, as we all do. Plus the Blaque and Eliza Dushku is in this.
I used to watch this movie a lot as a kid, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Sugar and Spice is another one of those early 2000's teen comedy movies that was fun to watch as well.
Chuuuu I love all of the content you do. You are a gem and make me so happy. Some of these scenes were filmed at my highschool! Eastlake highschool in San Diego. I think the cast snuck into Tijuana and got arrested (typical San Diego activity) but yes lots of it was filmed in my Hometown
You should watch ●"John Tucker Must Die" is a romcom comedy wirh Sophia Bush, Britanny Snow, Ashanti, Jesse Metcalf, Penn Badgley & more. ● She's All That (with Freddie Prinze Jr, Paul Walker [rip], Rachael Leigh Cook, Matthew Lillard...) ● 10 things about you (with Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger [rip], Joseph Gordon Levy) ● 27 dresses (with Katherine Heigl, James Marsden...) ● 13 Going on 30 (with Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo) ● Easy Girl (with Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Amanda Bynes) ● Maid in Manhattan (wirh JLo, Ralph Fiennes, Natasha Richardson [rip]. There's more of course. With black leads. ■ Think Like A Man (with Terrence Jenkins, Michael Ealy, Romany Malco, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Gabrielle Union, Meagan Good and Regina Hall) ■ Cool Runnings (1993) but so so funny. ■ The Nutty Professor (1996 with Eddie Murphy, Jada Pinkett...) Btw fun reaction. You was so into the movie
This movie holds a special place in my heart. Being a girl REALLY from the Eastside of Compton and starting my cheer years in 2001, I even had my lil brother (RIP) knowing this movie 😂 we would throw out random lines and sing the songs.
I came rushing over to watch because I knewwww you'd have a fun time. It's been over a decade and the Clovers live in my head rent free to this day. Watching them win again was the BHM celebration I needed today.
You MUST reaction to Bring it on: all or nothing with Solange and Hayden Panettiere. In my opinion, it’s the second best in the franchise after this one.
A few more fun movies that I think that you might enjoy are '10 Things I Hate About You' from 1999 and also guest stars Gabrielle Union. And 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' from 1999 which also stars Kirsten Dunst and is a VERY dark comedy.
Bring It On: All or Nothing is my personal fave and the one I've watched the most. I don't remember anything about the second movie but my faves were All or Nothing and Fight to the Finish, I think they were my faves because we (the audience) got to spend more time with the poc
Since you've started on Bring It On!, I think you might as well watch the 2nd and 3rd. They might not be as iconic, but still really fun. Teenage me had a time!
Love this movie, it's just a good time the whole way through! Think my favorite part is the dead silence after they perform the spirit fingers routine! 😂 Once you said you were reacting to Candyman this month, it made me want to recommend Run Sweetheart Run and Sissy. Both are horror movies with black women as leads, so either one would fit for Black History Month!
I used to like this movie as a kid, watching your reaction when they were in the courtyard talking shit to each other, holdup! HEPNER HALL has to be right over there! I didnt know this was filmed at my college. SDSU, Go Aztecs!
Other fun & campy 2000s movies Id love Chu to react to: Sugar & Spice, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Jawbreaker and less fun but PLEASE react to Girl Interrupted if you havent seen it yet
