@chelsearunyan 6 месяцев назад
Kenai confessing to Koda it’s gotta be the best part in the whole movie. You cannot only hear that regret in Kenai. But you can see it on him knowing he broke Koda’s heart. Well that was Kenai’s true punishment knowing that he broke the bond they had. But it was also Koda forgiving Kenai that made there brotherly bond stronger. This movie is amazing!

PLEASE REACT TO "SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON"! It's a story about a strong, beautiful horse with a spirit that can never be broken. I cry every time i watch it! It's a INCREDIBLE film, and the songs are so cool! But it's not a musical and the animals can't talk. 😭💔🔥

The fact that this movie came out 10 years after Joaquin Phoenix lost his own brother River, it's kinda bittersweet. It came out on October 20th 2003, that's 11 days before the 10 year anniversary of River Phoenix's passing. I hope Joaquin enjoyed playing this as some sort of closure for him and his brother
@Theravingranter
@Theravingranter 6 месяцев назад
I heard that there was a scream/cry cut out when Sitka passed that Kenai did but the animators couldn’t put it in because even for a movie like this it was too much anguish. I’d like to think it’s true, in that moment Joaquin was reliving his brothers passing. I’m sure he holds this movie close to him and hopefully it helped him get closure.
@chelsearunyan
@chelsearunyan 6 месяцев назад
Joaquin deserves so much credit. Playing a character he relates to. As we all know Joaquin is a younger brother himself who actually did witnessed his older brother’s death. And yet He still did this movie which Joaquin did enjoy playing.

Angela, the actors who voiced the moose are Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis. Moranis is known in Disney as the father in "Honey I Shrunk the Kids", Dark Helmet in "Spaceballs", and Seymore in "Little Shop of Horrors" to name a few. Thomas and Moranis are great friends in real life and were a part of a Canadian TV Series that started their careers. If you want a movie with those two as the main characters I would highly suggest Strange Brew.

1 disturbing/depressing element they leave out of this story is that bears living in the wild have a lifespan of only around 30 years, so by chosing to remain a bear Kenai likely died decades before his brother Denahi told the story as we saw at the beginning of the movie.
@SorenAlba54
@SorenAlba54 6 месяцев назад
Ooh. I never thought about that because of how the story turned out. Yes, animals have shorter lifespans because they age faster than we do. Plus, Denahi did say that he passed on the wisdom of his brother’s story to their people. With that, his legacy will forever live on through their culture with the lessons about love and forgiveness. Honestly, with Kenai being a bear, he’s never been more happy than he was before so I’m sure he passed away in peace knowing that he will never be forgotten and he’ll be one with the lights that touch the earth.

Good job noticing the perspective change! I watched an interview of the animator who directed this movie.. this was the first movie he was in charge of instead of just an animator.. he loves bears and decided to make a story all about them.. the moose you love were apparently a comedy duo that pretty much are playing their own personas! Apparently very popular before my time and you can see why :P they are great!

Angelina, if I could, you would see a whole list of movies that’ll make me feel nostalgic and tranquil. For starters, however, please see Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Balto and Khumba. These ones will change your life, trust me. Personal fun fact: this movie holds very close to my heart because my mother wanted to give me Kenai’s name after I was born because of how impactful this story was before being actually named after my father. When I have sons of my own one day, they will have the brothers’ names; Kenai and Koda. As a bonus, check out Past Lives, a movie that was nominated for Best Director and Best Picture in the Oscars. 😉

I'm pretty sure this movie wasn't remastered in the way that you mean. It came out in 2003 and it always looked this good! It was one of the last 2D films Disney did, and was unfortunately released during the era when everyone thought CG would forever replace 2D as if it's "outdated". I remember being so annoyed when it came out that there was BARELY any advertising for it. ....oops sorry, BEARLY*. Disney was kinda giving up on it's own 2D films around that time, they also poorly released Treasure Planet and doomed it to bomb. I think both would've done better if released nowadays. Glad you enjoyed it!

Here’s some fun facts about Brother Bear, though some of you already know them. -Koda is played by Jeremy Suarez aka Jordan from The Bernie Mac Show. -D.B Sweeney, the actor who plays Sitka, previously played in Disney’s Dinosaur as Aladar. -Denahi is played by Jason Raize, who is well known for being part of the original Broadway cast of The Lion King, where he played as Simba. -In the early stages of production, it was under two different titles; Shadow Bear and Bears. -Kenai was originally gonna have an older brother figure named Griz. But got replaced with Koda cause the execs figured it’s best that Kenai have a younger brother figure. -Mark Mancina and Phil Collins who previously did the score and soundtrack, for Tarzan, did the score and soundtrack for this movie too. -The deleted version of the scene where Kenai confesses about killing Koda’s mother is more emotional.

Kenai is voiced by Joaquin Pheonix which to me, makes this movie mean so much more, because the actor DID lose a brother in real life, in this case River who was barely halfway thru his 20s. So when i watch scenes like when Kenai's still wading thru the water and the glaciers frantically trying to find Sitka and screaming his name, it just breaks my heart. One of the creators of this movie even said that in a way this helped him work thru some of his grief

19:16 - 19:25 As I grew older, this line always cracks me up. 20:31 - 21:13 Personal opinion, but I'm not a big fan of some of the Phil Collins songs in this movie. Not that they're bad, but I feel like they're very misplaced throughout the movie. And this song is a prime example. The the original version had him tell the story to Koda (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3-seKkTsCeE.htmlsi=uMt_ev-JKFjUPVX_ ), but the studio claimed it to be "too dark" despite the fact that there no clue to what the story Kenai told him was. It also robs the movie of Joaquin Phoenix's performance. There have been some edits that tried meshing them both together, but I feel like the scene doesn't need a song to describe what's happening.

This film, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Hunchback of Notre Dame, to some extent even the Princess and the Frog (I've personally never seen but I'm including it because I think the general consensus put it in the same category) are all films that the general public slept on but they're actual Gems in their own right.
