If you're able to, you should watch this episode with Dave's intro on stage before the sketch. He talks about how The Real World would have one black man with a houseful of white people. As soon as he said or did anything he was labeled as an angry black man. Dave wanted to see what happened if they flipped the script on the makeup of the house, hence The Mad Real World. Having that mindset going into the skit makes it a funnier and more biting commentary on perspective. Love your videos. Keep up the good work. Peace and love.
Dave is an absolute genius, but lets not forget about ALL of the writers/comedians/actors associated with this show. The writing sessions must have been EPIC! I would love to see footage of some of those meetings.
I have been saying "They got weed in em?" for my entire life whenever someone offers me cookies or brownies because of this episode. I had forgot where it came from for so long. Crazy how impactful this show was for how few seasons it had.
Dave and Neal are friends with Dave Edwards who was on the Real World Los Angeles. Alot of the times Dave was getting yelled at by his roommates on the show he would call up Chappelle telling him how wild the roommates were
Love Mad Real World. Been 10 years or more, I'm sure' since I watched this for the first time. Never gets old. Thanks for the reaction. Keep it coming, señor! I like this specific type of specific content.
You have stumbled into a treasure trove with Chappelle's Show. No matter what anyone says this man is a comedic genius. Some of these skits are dated but they still make me laugh to this day
This man never learned to juggle company... You don't bring your highschool sweetheart and dad home to a gang of Urban gentlemen... you bring big Ed and Sheela the Hell's Angels bikers you met at Mardigras.
That WAYNE Brady reaction Skit. Paul said White people love WAYNE Brady Because he Makes Bryant Gumble Look like Malcolm X WAYNE was upset. SO DAVE DID A SKIT WITH HIM.
Awesome reaction, as always! There was some context missing in the clip. In the show, Dave explains how on the Real World they always put one black guy in a house with the craziest white people they could find. This skit is the reverse, if they put one white dude in a house with the craziest black people they can find. I think that makes it even funnier.
The sketches always had an intro to it in the show. This one Dave said about how the show Real World, they always had a bunch of white people with one black guy. And people always wondered why the black guy would 'go crazy'. So this was if it was reversed, a bunch of black people and 1 white guy. Then they played this.
He's telling him where to piss because in jail there is designated #1 and #2 toilets if there are more than one like in population. In a shared cell toilet you sit for everything so no piss gets on that toilet seat. You can get your ass stomped if you don't follow the rules.
sitting down when you pee comes from time in prison. It's a common practice as you share a cell with another man. Sitting the opposite way on a toilet points everything towards the back of the bowl ensuring that the rim of the toilet doesn't get dirty. Its a major disrespect to pee standing up to some lifers believe it or not....Hence the reason he is telling Chad to sit when he pee's. He is basically letting him know that he is in charge of the room
The reason this is funny, even to a black man in 2022, and I say this very carefully as a white person, so context, I was in prison, which is unfortunately ... populated in an imbalanced way, I spent plenty of years spending time with mostly black culture of ALL sorts, respectable or otherwise. There is all SORTS of ALL sorts, this is about this sort. The reason this is funny, is because you know or have met and spent time around every single person in that house. It's fucked up and funny, because (especially when it was made) you watch it and think, "Shit, I know that guy, that's just like ..." Just like how you called she's for the streets. You know that guy, you know her. You laugh because it's so absurdly accurate. At the same time... it's a culture shock of, like, really wtf we as people have done with our lives. It's good comedy, and it's comedy that makes change. I can't find the source anymore, but I remember Dave Chapelle saying once, when asked why he portrayed black people this way, said essentially, because he knows so many (derogatorily people of his own skin tone) that bitch about wanting shit to be better, and how they're just treated like garbage, but then go out and act like this. He wrote these characters because he knew them, and he wanted them to basically see themselves. Yeah, falling in line is stupid, voting is not how to rise up. He got that in there, I mean, it's not like he's white or something. BUT, his point in a lot of the sketches was to get people to look at themselves and realize that if they want to be treated with a certain respect... they can't behave certain ways, and they can't be overly ignorant of the real world either. He stereotypes those as black and white, but his point is for everyone regardless. If you want shit to be better, you can't just work to make other things and other people better, YOU have to BE BETTER. We ALL have to be better. I think that's just as true today.
In the California prison system you sit down to piss. It's respect for the room. That is your house. That's where you cook, exercise, read, etc. Standing up and splashing is mad disrespectful
Sitting down when you piss is a common courtesy prison rule for cellmates, so you don't get piss spray everywhere; 'specially if you bunk with a Muslim because they have to get down on the floor to pray, per their religion. Lol.
This channel is oddly Classed as Family Friendly lol .. So youtube freely promotes it. There is an entire list of 900+ word i cant use if it want to maintain that
@@MrLboydReacts Oh ok. I didn't understand how that works. I must admit I enjoy you searching your mind for the right words. I find myself doing the same thing with you lol.
One of my favorite things about this skit is the setup that Dave gives it in the show. He basically points out that reality shows always have one black guy that ends up looking/going nuts, but the reason for that is because he's surrounded by the craziest white people you can find, so of COURSE he's gonna go nuts in that situation. So that's the premise here, flipping that ratio on it's head, and seeing how a white guy would deal with it.
That is a fun ass show. But that White Boy word! If they only knew where that shit came from. They wouldn't go along with it. It's a complete slap in the face and clearly disrespectful. Thats one thing that I don't go for especially in my face. So one is all u get. The second one u better have ur hands up when u say it. Other then that. We good👍
Chapelle said they were making fun of reality shows at the time that would take one black person, and force them to live with a bunch of crazy white people, before they showed the sketch, which is pretty much what they would do on those shows. Have a few minorities, and a bunch of white people, everyone was pretty much crazy they were young and reality tv stars. He just said they were flipping it around and putting a normal white guy with a bunch of wild black people. It was funny, full of shock humor. I was never one for reality tv, but this was a funny sketch.
You people is NOT an insult. Would you prefer that he referred to the housemates as animals or hooligans or miscreants or jackenapes or perhaps uncouth abominable examples of human beings? I think you people was very polite considering the circumstances.
lmao. If you aint white, it's offensive. If it's not offensive go up to a group of blacks, mexicans etc and go "you people" in that tone. Just don't cry about it when you receive the consequences of your actions.
@MrLboyd Reacts Being called a person should not be an insult. What's next? Don't answer. I fear society is mobilizing for irrational behavior and war. The next logical step is to be afraid to communicate with other people resulting in segregation out of fear.
