im 35 and the first time i seen this i was like 13? 14? around when i first started getting stoned. Alot of my friends just "didnt get it" but it was an instant classic to me. you gotta watch 2 and 3. the third one will get you in your feels. It was an amazing way to end this saga.

Fun Fact: Kevin Smith originally cast himself as Randal, which is why Randal (Jeff Anderson) gets some of the best lines. Historical Fact: The real reason prices end in $.95, $.99, set under a round figure, was so that cashiers would always have to open the register to give change, thus recording a sale and preventing them from pocketing the bills. View Askewniverse Fact: Julie Dwyer's death and wake will be important in future movies. Willam Black (Scott Mosier) is a reoccurring background character. Rick Derris (Ernest O'Donnell) will definitely be a character of note. Heather Jones (Kimberly Loughran) is yet another character of note. Although never seen, Randall's (Jeff Anderson) Cousin Walter is a character of note. Movie Magic Fact: Randall and the Happy Scrappy Hero Pup lady (Connie Finnerty) are not actually in the room at the same time. Jeff Anderson refused to read the list of porno movies in front of her and particularly in front of the child (Ashley Pereira). The camera cleverly zooms in on Randell as he reads the list. Although the reaction shots of the Happy Scrappy Hero Pup lady were obtained by reading the list to her later. Location Location Fact: Filmed at the same store in which director Kevin Smith was working at the time. As he was only allowed to film outside of business hours, and because bright enough lights couldn't be afforded, the plot included an explanation for the shutters always being down. They shot for 21 straight nights. He would clock in at 6am and finish at 11pm. They would then shoot till 4am, after which he would try to grab an hour or two's sleep before getting ready to go back to work. Although the video store has long since closed and is now Kevin Smith's podcast studio, the Quick Stop store is still open and a tourist destination.

Great movie. A real modern classic. Nice to see you enjoyed it as well. Jason Mewes as Jay and Kevin Smith as Silent Bob also appear (among other movies and sequels) in the fantastic movie "Dogma" with a stellar cast.

I still haven't watched 3.. I'm savoring the wait. I fucking love the Clerks series

This is the beginning of what is known as the ViewAskew-niverse (View Askew is the name of Kevin Smith's production company) Clerks 2 is NOT the next movie. Believe it or not the order is Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and then Clerks 2. If you enjoyed this one you will likely enjoy the rest, they are all written and Directed by Kevin Smith (who played Silent Bob) and they share many characters and cast members, most notably Jay and Silent Bob who weave in and out of the stories like R2D2 and C3P0.

Truth be told, I'd buy a pack of Chewlie's Gum now just to see if it's decent

This movie perfectly captures Gen-X. We’re definitely cynical smart asses. This almost feels like a documentary. Haha! I met Kevin Smith (Silent Bob) and Jay Mews (Jay). They are awesome dudes! Kevin Smith’s movies are hysterical.

It’s amazing what some guy can do with under $28,000.

The reason they skipped the Funereal Parlor is most of that film was ruined. Lost shots. Kevin Smith paid to have that scene animated, which is in a director's cut of some sort

There's an alternate deleted ending scene, and Kevin Smith also animated the casket scene; worth a watch.

You noted how dark it was outside after the Julie Dwyer wake scene. Most of this movie was filmed at night because the stores were open during the day. That’s why the steel shutters being closed was written into the script to explain the lack of daylight through the windows. Being in black-and-white also hides this to some extent (though that was mostly a cost-saving measure).

Apologies for replying twice but yes 2 and 3 are worth it. Kevin Smith aka silent bob waited 10 years between movies so you see them in their 20's, 30's and 40's. 2 is hysterical, 3 is...a different tone
