This film proves that Lord and Miller are writing geniuses. There's so many hilarious quotes and gags throughout. Mostly with the giant food, Steve, and Officer Earl. But they also know how to balance it out with just the right amount of heart. The conflict and ultimate resolution between Flint and his father is handled really well, and overall, this movie just has a great message about embracing who you are and supporting your loved ones.

To explain why they take a deep breath when they kiss, the joke is that Flint’s nose is too big for either to exchange a normal kiss. So they puff up their cheeks so their lips can even make contact, lol.

This was Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s directorial debut. They have gone on to be directors and/or producers of the Lego movie franchise, The Mitchells vs the Machines, and the Spider-Verse films, among others. They are a massive force in innovative animation, and frankly you can see that as far back as this film.

This movie was based on a children's book I used to read when I was a kid. From what I remember, it wasn't about a scientist, it was just about a small town that one day noticed food falling from the sky. At first they loved it, but eventually it was too much and the book ended with the people having to leave their homes. Pretty sad for a children's book. Glad the movie was more upbeat.

I saw this in theaters after dropping LSD. Best choice i ever made. 😂😂 it had all the perfect triggers and the humor style was excellent. The exaggerated expressions hit so great. Set off a lot of funny bells in the best way. Especially the gasping scene and the unintelligible acronyms.

This is based off a little old book, from 1982, for like 4-7 year old kids lol. I loved this book as a kid. The back of the book has the following "premise": "If food dropped like rain from the sky, wouldn't it be marvelous! Or would it? It could, after all, be messy. And you'd have no choice. What if you didn't like what fell? Or what if too much came? Have you ever thought of what it might be like to be squashed flat by a pancake?" So for a book as simple as that I was blown away with how cute the story of the movie turned out to be lol, even for adults.

When I watched this as a kid, I identified my self a lot with flint as an autistic I always felt like an outcast in school for being smart and nerdy and not understanding social life and metaphors almost at all. I'm 24 today and have learned to be my self probably partially due to this movie's message. Flint does have some autistic symptoms, his obsessiveness and hyper-fixation with his invention, his awkward social interactions and his inability to comprehend basic metaphors.
