He’s possibly the most agile 7 footer ever in history. He moved like a man half his size all the time. He was a phenomenon that comes around generationally. He could’ve been a multi time champion but he was also a humble and loyal person who loved Dallas and decided he was winning with our team and never left for a more star studded team, which no one would’ve blamed him for. The man was just the Dallas GOAT and he will forever be synonymous with the Dallas Mavericks and #41. Thank you Dirk!
As a mavs fan dirk was so good he could have left for any team but he was loyal I will always love that man no homo just appreciate his loyalty to my team
That is something people don't take into account. Lebron and Shaq went ring chasing their whole career. Kobe stayed in L.A., but always had 1 or 2 other stars around him. Dirk was never able to get another super star around him. I give lots of props to Tim Duncan as well. But that 2011 run was amazing! Swept Kobe, Odom and Gasol, then beat Durant, Westbrook and Harden, then beat Lebron, Wade and Bosh! Dirk had no all stars around him. The number 2 scorer came off the bench, and some good defenders and one of the smartest point guards of all time, and Dirk's clutch as hell shooting, got them to the top!
I remember watching him for a while with no dam clue he was 7 feet tall. You didn't see 7 footers playing beyond the 3 point line. One of the GOATs for sure but hard to classify in one position. His fallaway and Kareem's hook were the 2 most unstoppable shots in NBA history imho. Many of the great bigs were limited offensively. Dirk was even deadly from the line though too.
Dirk was actually a Power Forward. Not a Center... Hes top 5 PF of all time with only Tim duncan ahead of him. And hes also Top 20 NBA player of all time.
Tim was a center though. He only played power forward at the very beginning of his career because David Robinson was on the team. He was center for 90 percent of his career.
Thanks for the reaction from a die hard Mavs fan. I love lebron too btw he's the goat imo, but glad you can respect the gauntlet dirk went through to win his only title and how much that 1 ring means hopefully as much as other hall of famer's several.
Im 6'9 and half German. Pops has pics of Dirk playing with them at the base gym when he was in Highschool. I patterned my entire game after him. Played the 3-5 because of that. Played pro in Germany for a while too. Hes the GOAT to me. Dirk actually had a mechanical engineer work with him on his shot.
@@lesterine77 Watch "Nowitzki: The Perfect Shot". Pretty interesting sports documentary that goes into that history a little. I didn't know that background as well. He basically hat a personal coach with a engineering/physics as well as basketball background.
Dirk is a power foward. As a Mavs fan, I am biased, but I wouldn't consider him the best of all time. Except in 2011! Top 5 power forward and top 20 player of all time.
@16:05, its his #2 play because that was game 7 against the rival spurs and it was that clutch and 1 layup that won them the game and sent the mavs to the finals
The number two play holds significant value First time beating spurs Down 3 with 10 seconds left We're about to choke a 3-1 series But dirk saved them with that three point play Then he went off in overtime ☺️ First one was all about the ring you already know
this is more of a most important plays countdown than a best play countdown, like number 2 seems like just layup against the Spurs but it was a Game 7 the mavs ended up winning on the road because of that play against the defending champs. dirk could move a lot better earlier in his career. after the mavs won the 2011 title, he suddenly got old.
well he was special, best scoring player who was not born in the US, by others regarded as one of the greats and was choosen for the "NBA 75th Anniversary Team"
