First time watching *Green Lantern* 

No, this movie ain't that bad. Even Reynolds admitted it himself when he finally watched it after years of relentlessly mocking it. He was more than happy to do so as it is where he met his wife.

This isn’t a very bad movie. It’s not great by any means, but the memes have really overplayed its terribleness. It’s a generic, entertaining superhero movie. Simple as that. The best thing about it is the alien Green Lanterns, they are all cast very well and the characters are adapted perfectly. Tbh all the Green Lantern lore and powers are represented very well here

And then six years later, one of the writers of this film went on to write Logan and Bladerunner 2049 in the same year. What a turnaround for that guy

I kinda like that she just straight up figured out it was hal when she saw him close up. The reasoning they never recognise the hero is ebcause you dont expect anyone you know to have these kinds of abilities, its the superman effect. you see a demigod every day you arent gonna twig that hes probably walking among you.

I will be honest , I had fun watching this film , it was an ok movie to me . I am actually a big fan of Green Lantern.

There may be alot of Lanterns but Hal Jordan is considered one of the greatest Green Lanterns. This film isnt as bad as most people say imo

I'm someone that couldn't give less of a shit about bad effects so I've always loved this movie, I might be bias though because this is one of the first superhero movies I've watched

That guy with the oversized head was the best part of the movie for me, man screamed so much he straight up turned into a punchline. The way he screams is so over the top that it circles right back to being hilarious

Green lantern was one of my favorite DC heroes as a kid! So when this movie came out I genuinely enjoyed it because it was the first time I’d seen the green lantern in live action. I had no idea this movie was widely considered to be BAD. Which kind of shocked me. You seem like the type of reactor who jumps on the bandwagon of “oh this movie is bad” instead of enjoying it for what it is lmao

As a Lantern Fan, this movie wasn't very good. It wasn't bad, but they made a few decisions that wasn't very great. Making Parallax the villain in this movie was the biggest mistake, he's not a former Guardian that got corrupted by Fear, he is the Primordial Embodiment of Fear itself. The Lanterns draw their powers from the Emontial Spectrum, and there are seven different colors, (technically nine, but that's not important right now) each representing a different emotion. Green is Willpower, Yellow is Fear, Orange is Greed, Blue is Hope, Red is Rage, Indigo is Compassion and Violet is Love. Each colors of Spectrum also have a beast, a living embodiment of that emotion. Parallax is the Yellow Fear beast, which is why making him the villain was a huge mistake.

This is a guilty pleasure for sure. Every time I watch it, I still can't believe it exists. So bad it's fun.

I actually still enjoy this one. some really cheesy moments and terrible CGI at times, but it's not nearly as bad as a lot of people made it out to be. I was actually really sad that we never got the sequel that they set up. I definitely wouldn't mind a good reboot too - if they can do one of these as well as they did Aquaman or Man of Steel, it would be a really solid movie. Green Lantern is a super cool concept and with good CGI they could do a lot of amazing things. I think you nailed it though when you said there were scenes missing. they likely filmed a bunch more and had to cut down time and then were just complete shit at editing it so it ended up a mess.

Going in hating the movie makes you point out all the negatives rather than the positives. I enjoyed the movie but the goofy ahh big head screaming Hector ruined it. All those lines that you hated on weren't half bad. They were just your casual movie lines but since you know this movie is trash, you point out everything bad about it rather than the good of it. The part where Hal catches the helicopter, that was good because it'll be boring if it was merely a giant hand catching a helicopter, so the director emphasised and used previous foreshadowing from the little boys room and his toy of hot wheels, to conduct a way in which it has reason to him using the hot wheels. The main power is mainly based off imagination and if your imagination was as mere as using a giant Fist all the time, it wouldn't be as interesting. Yes there were a lot of plot and story holes but that isn't a first. Honestly, Black Adam and Green Lantern were both movies I really enjoyed but the fact that one person spreads out a word of how it is a trash movie, deceives how people expect it to be before watching it.

The main problem is that Paralax was used too soon as he’s more of a final villain character. It’s like if Iron Man could defeat Thanos by himself in his first film.

let’s be real, if he heard the movie was good, he would’ve thought the suit and the fights and all that were so cool, but cause he heard it was bad, everything was bad to him. that’s nothing on him directly, but all i’m saying is he kept saying “that’s not real, no way that’s real, that’s so bad”, when some of that shit was the things hal jordan would actually do in the comics. the writing was bad, but there were good parts.

This movie is a hit and miss. Hal Jordan is great, Sinestro is great, Kilowog is great, Tomar-Re is great, Carol Ferris is great and Abin Sur is great. Oa looks fantastic. But it ends there. They made Parallax into a cloud of farts instead of the entity of fear. The movie is based mainly on Earth when it should be intergalactic. I like the CGI suits because it's hard to make hard light energy suit without CGI.

What I think is kind of fun, is that quite a bit of this movie was basically repeated in the first Doctor Strange. However, in Doctor Strange we could see what happens when you do this kind of origin story right, with better writing, better supporting cast, better pacing, better contrast between light and dark moments, better CGI, and so on and so forth...

That's his superpower and that's how his character is . Trying to find flaws in everything is what i have all seen in your reaction . My honest opinion on your reaction on this video .

This movie better than a few x-men movies. Beyond all that, Martin Campbell directed Casino Royale and Michael Green wrote Logan, so a modicum of respect for them is warranted.

Im going to be honest, this films isn't great and not terrible but also not good. But I say that this film is a far cry from how amazing the original Green Lantern stories and comics are, I'm serious as the Green Lantern comics are one of the biggest and most epic stories, and really give you a feeling of sci fi epic and really builds up a massive story, just a big as Star Wars and talks about imagination, authority, fear, the importance of will and the validity of all of our emotions in our lives, even talking about life and the importance of death. I know sound like I'm over hyping but I'm legitimately being serious when I say Green Lantern could have the potential to rival Star Wars in telling an sci fi epic.

This is why the line "Don't make the supersuit green, or animated" is in Deadpool.

I wish you would had watched this movie without the hear say opinions from other people being an important factor for you. Because first time I watched it, I loved it. But if you go into a movie expecting it to be bad, the only thing you can see is how bad it is. Anyway thanks for the reaction.

So... don't get me wrong I don't think it's a GREAT movie by any means, but I firmly believe it's not as bad as people make out. In my opinion this is a great example of how people telling you / hearing that something is so and so bad makes you believe it before during and after watching it, I've never seen you forget as many details previously laid out to you in a movie to inform you of later call backs or details than in this one, almost like you went into it not caring if you missed parts, plus being the 37 minute version hopefully there weren't many more for the full length. On a side note this good or bad talk reminds me of X-Men Dark Phoenix, people left right and centre hopped on the band wagon to say it was bad even before seeing it for themselves, and if I remember correctly they even started saying it before the first trailer had dropped, yet so far I haven't seen a reaction in which the people reacting don't say something like 'I don't see what people were talking about, this movie is great/good' so on and so forth. Nonetheless this was still another great reaction from SebScreen and I for one can't wait for more!

Sinestro putting on the yellow ring at the end didn’t even make sense, there was never any indication he was turning evil .

Actually, in the comics there was a WHOLE storyline that is important that leads up to how and why Sinestro gets the yellow ring. The yellow ring NEVER should have been in THIS movie, at all.. But then again, Parallax should never have been in this movie either. Hector Hammond was GL's first villain, and they should have just left it that way..

This isn't Batman & Robin bad...it's just SOOOO unremarkable....sprinkled with some truly horrendous stuff. There has to be two Martin Campbells in Hollywood. No way the guy who did Mask of Zorro and Goldeneye and Casino Royale did this. No way. I actually like a lot of the FX in parts of this. That's about all the good I got for it..

I feel like 99% of the criticism levied against this movie is 1. The bad CGI mask, and 2. Things which were taken directly from the Green Lantern comic books. If they didn't include all these ridiculous names and origin story, DC fans would have crapped all over the movie for not following the story. The criticism should be of the Green Lantern story in general, not this movie in particular. For example, being shocked at him not being recognizable in the mask is no different from Superman being unrecognizable just because he puts glasses on. So it's really just the mask, which is pretty bad, but so was some of the Norton Hulk scenes and that came out around the same time.

Me personally I never got all the hate for this film other than the CGI & the villain everything else was fine they showcased the green lanterns power well, showed the Guardians , & Hal training. & teased Sinestro going bad, but yea I prefer the animated films better watch those

That last scene where the evil falls into the sun was I think based on Ryan (Hal) thinking more mass means the gravity should effect it before it effects him. Weird that an eater of worlds is effected by gravity though *edit* Seb, I do wish you'd not be so influenced into what to expect on some films though. Oh well, it's nice to want things I guess. I was Mind Blown, When I watched this and noticed how 2 Kiwi actors were in this film, lol 😂. Timuera Morrison he was cast to play Jango Fett and take over the role for Boba Fett since they're clone/son of Jango. And Taika Waititi as well, like what!?

Michael Clark Duncan as Kilwogg is the best character of the movie.

I never really got the hate, maybe it was all to do with comic-accuracy and yes Blake and Ryan did meet on the set of Green Lantern

To be fair, This movie is part 1 only, and the story really isnt that bad. But i recommend you watch the animated one called Green Lantern: First Flight and then afterwards the Green Lantern: Emerald Knights IIRC. a lot more story

The rings have a few more limits than just “anything you can imagine” you also have to have some idea of how the thing works, so you can’t just make a fully functional lightsaber first try

People shit on it but I love it, it’s not the best movie but it’s not trying to be, I had a lot of fun watching it.

For me it's amazing, I would watch it with my grandparents whenever I was with them, there are much worse movies this days

The problem with this movie wasn't the CG suit. It was a bad story, and the writers didn't understand the powers. They have him making MACHINES, which he can't do. For instance, making machine guns. He can make the SHAPE of a machine gun, but not gunpowder. He can make the shape of a jet, but nothing that can create exhaust and thrust in space beyond his own flight power. Last, it suffers from the cloud monster syndrome, where the hero ends up fighting an amorphous cloud, rather than an actual nemesis. Hollywood tends to do that.

It is always best to know a movie is bad before watching it. Bad movies can be highly entertaining if you don't have shattered expectations. If I went to see this movie opening night, I probably would have hated it. Knowing it was a piece of crap before I watched it, I found it to be one of the most unintentionally funny movies of all time! Also... Sinestro's NAME gives it away that he becomes a villain. Hal Jordan's greatest enemy.

I always feel bad for Peter Sarsgaard in this movie, because aside from the ridiculous makeup he really is giving it his all and trying to give a genuinely interesting/emotional villain performance. It's just that the dialogue, directing, story, and makeup are all so ridiculous that there's not much he can do.
