I love how 13 y/o kids need a permission slip to go to a village and buy sweets but not to play a game that can literally kill and maim you

Dumbledore got really mad at the ministry because they decided to put the dementors in Hogwarts. He told them it would be dangerous for the kids but they didn't cara and did it anyway.

the one thing this movie lacks is the background information regarding the friendship between james potter, sirius black, remus lupin, and peter pettigrew. from what is given to us is that james potter, remus lupin, sirius black, and peter pettigrew were the best friends during their time at hogwarts. they created the marauders map which uses nicknames based on their (james, sirius, and peters's) animagus forms. james is a stag (prongs) sirius is the black dog (padfoot) remus is a werewolf (not animagus, nicknamed moony) and peter is a rat (wormtail) the three of them learned how to become animagus to accompany remus during his transformations. another detail is that the patronus can take the form of an animal if casted by a talented and powerful wizard/witch, therefore harry's patronus taking the form of a stag calls back to his father. there's a bunch of other little stories and details that we don't really get to see in the movie series but I think this is the most important detail that was sadly left out.

The memory Harry used in Lupin’s office to first produce a patronus was when he saw his parents in the Mirror of Erised. When it forms the stag, he is thinking of leaving the Dursley’s and living with Sirius.

Hermione attends her first class, then after class she time-turns back to before the start of the class - there are now two hermiones, one in the first class and one who now attends the second - and then hermione from the first class disappears to go back to the past, leaving only the hermione from the second class. No idea if that helped or not lol

Hermione turns back time always, attends a class, then catches time back up to catch a second class, all in the same hour - essentially being able to study twice the classes. :) About Harry's family - I always felt it was not really clearly explained that the reason Harry has to spend the off season back at the awful Dursleys every year, was because his mother's magic (the love that saved him explained in the first movie) remains to protect him from voldemort when he is with his blood family, her sister - Mrs Dursley. No one is happy about it but Dumbledore knew he could rest easy Harry would be safe outside of school.

I love the fact that someone related to Voldemort or himself always waits for the school year to end before attacking Harry School first 😂

The first and second movies were one year apart from each other, but starting from the third movie, the studio takes a two-year break in-between movies. As for the STORY, each movie takes place a year apart. Here, Harry is 13 years old.

I so want a Harry Potter Prequel that explores James, Sirius, Remus and Peter's friendship and the Marauder's Map.

My favorite actor, Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) can be anyone. He has been Dracula, Churchill, Beethoven, Sid Vicious, Zog from 5th Element. He's a chameleon.

Draco is seeker for the Slytherin team, they were playing against Hufflepuff. The seeker that got hit by lightning is called Cedric Diggory, you’ll know more about him next movie, played by a different actor though

Malfoy is the seeker of the slytherine team. Gryfindor is playing against hufflepuff, notice the yellow colores of the opposite team About Hermione. She time travels back in time so she can attend 2 classes at the same time. Professor McGonagall gave it to her, as an exception due to Hermione being very bright, dedicated to her studies, responsible and mature. It was the only way Hermione could take all the classes she wanted to.

Lucius Malfoy was about to cast the Killing Curse (Avada Kedavra) because that was the only spell Jason Isaacs (the actor who played Malfoy) knew at the time. He ad libbed and improvised a lot in that movie, including kicking Dobby down the steps.

Goblet of Fire is where the story will seeeerrriously draw you in (: I don't want to spoil anything but i hope you enjoy them!

So, since you brought up how Lupin had been dealing with the werewolf transformations all year: This is one of the many details the movies choose to omit for some reason, which is why the book fans tend to shit on the movies. On each night of the week before a full moon, Lupin was drinking a Wolfsbane Potion, which turns werewolves docile. Wolfsbane is also one of the most difficult potions to brew, with very few wizards being capable of it, so Hogwarts was one of the only places that Lupin could reliably obtain it, as Snape was brewing it throughout the year for him.

My fiancé went through a similar experience to you but when he was a small child. He is the kindest person I have ever known, so it doesn't surprise me that you seem so kind despite going through hardship. I'm glad I found your channel. Also, we definitely need "Ass Cabin" merch!

There is a potion called the Wolfsbane potion that lets Lupin be non-aggressive when he transforms. He hadn't taken his dose that day and Snape followed him to make sure he took it but they knocked him unconcious before he could hand it over. It's difficult to make and has to be taken daily so thata when he transforms he's docile.

unfortunately, Harry Potter is a vast world of stories and back stories. it is impossible to get all the knowledge from just the movies. i suggest after you finish the movies, read the books and watch other youtube videos about it.

Used to teach 2nd grade english as a second language. We read a little Prisoner of Azkaban after lunch. The kids fell in love with Stan from the Knight Bus. They had never heard of Cockney dialect with no H sound. During reading one kiddo asked, "Can I read it like Stan with no H?" "Sure." They read like Stan for a couple of months. It was adorable and hilarious. PS Actress who plays Proff Trelawney used to be married to actor who was Gildroy Lockhart.

You can't change the past. It's a loop. Buckbeak never died to begin with. For example, I lose my phone. I then go back in time and take my phone. I was the very cause of losing my phone to begin with. Nothing changed or could've changed. Causality loops are my favorite form of time travel. At most it's a glorified cloning device. Even then, in the harry potter universe, you can only travel back so far without facing extreme consequences and they're extremely rare.

Lupine interrupted Harry's meeting with boggort, because he was afraid that it would turn into Voldemort. This point is a little clearer in the book. Plus now we know that Harry is not afraid of Voldemort.

Basically Peter pettigrew killed 12 people at the same time and then faked his own death so Sirius got the blame for it (that’s why he got sent to Azkaban) he was innocent the entire time! Sirius, Remus, James and Peter were all friends, (and that’s why Sirius is Harry’s godfather) they are also the inventors of the marauders map! That’s how lupin knew about it. Lupin is moony, Sirius is padfoot, Peter is wormtail and James was prongs. When lupin was young he got bit by a werewolf called Greyback (you’ll meet him in the later movies) and that’s why the shrieking shack was known as “the most haunted place in Britain” because for the screams of lupin turning into a werewolf! The Womping willow was also planted there to make sure no one went into the shrieking shack while lupin was transforming. James, Sirius and Peter became unregistered animagus’s so they could turn into animals with him. Also one last thing, Harry’s patronus (you’ll find out more about them) is a stag (the same as his dads) that’s why he showed up as a stag.Hope this all makes sense!!!

time travel in this movie is the closest to making sense imo. every other time travel falls in some sort of paradox. in the movie everything they do while in the past has already happened and they'll do it again. great video.

The map that Fred and George gave to Harry was made by James,Remus,Sirius and Peter when they were at Hogworts. There group name was the Marauders. James could turn into a Stag (Prongs),Remus was a werewolf (Moony),Sirius could turn into a Dog (Padfoot) and Peter can turn into a rat (Wormtail). James,Sirius and Peter were Anamagus. They would turn into their animal form to keep Remus company when he turns on a full moon.

Some added note: the makers of the map, lupin is one of them, they all learned to shapeshift into different animals to be able to stay with lupin when he was in his werewolf form, hence the names like “pad foot” being Sirius and his dog form, and prong, being James and his stag.

When he mentioned the foster care system my heart broke. We were a foster family for almost 10 years and seeing what these kids go though is so sad and the system itseld is far from perfect. He is so sweet and wholesome i just wanted to give him a hug when he said that.

Fun fact: the Dementors are a personification/metaphor for depression. That’s why chocolate makes you feel better after a Dementor attack because of the endorphins. It’s also why Dementors make you feel like ‘you’ll never be cheerful again’.

The timeline stuff really confused me when I first read the books. If FutureYou travels back to CurrentYou’s time, both exist simultaneously. That’s why wizards and witches can go mad if they see their future selves. This movie is my favourite, because you see them grown as well as it's a transition of the actual story line. The director is different and did a great job easing us into a darker, more serious vibe. It's also the movie where it starts to get darker like visually to suit the symbolism.

I love how you recognize that things keep coming back within the series...spells we learned in the first movie coming back in the second (wingardium leviosa), and (petrificus totalus), and there are constantly call backs to previous things like the sword of Gryffindor appearing to worthy Gryffindors and even items like the Deluminator from the first scene in the first movie to the last one in the form of Dumbledore bequeathing it to Ron in his will.

okay so a little backstory into the marauders, James (Harry's father), Sirius, Remus and Peter were best friends back when they were in hogwarts, they were in the same year along with lily (Harry's mother). When they found out that Remus, who had been spending full moons in the shrieking shack (the place they went through the tunnel in the whomping willow), was a werewolf, they decided to become animagus to be with him during his transformations but they never got registered (all animagus wizard had to be registered with the ministry, like McGonagall for example). All four of them created the marauders map: Prongs (James), wormtail (Peter), padfoot (Sirius) and moony (Remus), they named themselves like that after their animagus forms: a stag, a rat and a dog. During the first war, James and Lily had to go hidding after being told that Voldemort was after them. to hide from him they used the Fidelius Charm (charm that could be used to conceal a location), what we know as the Secret Keeper is the witch or wizard designated to hide a secret location by means of the Fidelius Charm, no one can find the secret location unless the secret keeper gives it away. James and Lily wanted to make Sirius their Secret Keeper, but he suggested they changed it to Peter instead, but no one else apart from them four knew about this change, everyone thought Sirius was the secret keeper. That's why, when Peter betrayed them and got them killed, everyone blamed Sirius for it, even Remus who had never known about the change of plans. Peter faked his murder and Sirius was blamed for it too, so he was sent to azkaban without a trial. Remus lost everything the day James and Lily died, he thought Peter had been murdered by Sirius, who as far as he knew, had betrayed all of them. he never saw harry again until his year teaching at Hogwarts.

There actually was a way to help Remus on full moon nights, Snape had to make him a potion (a temporary one) for Remus once a month so that he wouldn’t transform into a werewolf, but on the night that Sirius comes, I believe Remus just forgot/wasn’t able to get his potion is time. (Idk if that made sense, but that info is in the book)

Harry telling Snape to mind his own business is one of my favorite parts of this movie. This movie, the director wanted the main characters to dress as they normally would in their uniforms for school, instead of all buttoned up and such. It gave the characters more relation to the audience as most of us were growing up with them when this movie came out. It also gives you a better understanding and personality from the kids. Also I watched you watch Harry telling off snape like 8 times. Too funny.

Time travel stuff can be a headache. This one makes sense to me, it's actually my favorite theory of time travel, the fixed loop. This movie/book is actually one of my favorite examples of this theory. There's no going back in time to actually change anything, but essentially going back in time with more knowledge to make things happen that have already happened, to influence events behind the scenes without your former self's realization. It takes some really clever writing to pull it off. What sucks is that JK Rowling's sequel stageplay "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" completely throws these established rules of time travel out the window.

One thing I think you will continue to notice and appreciate is the way the stories mature over time. Each movie gets more dark and has deeper implications. I think it’s why it does so well as a franchise. It grows with an audience, no matter when they dive in.

Ok so here’s some back story for you. Lupin, Sirius, Peter, and James Potter were all friends at Hogwarts. Lupin didn’t think he would be able to go to Hogwarts because of his condition, but Dumbledore planted the Whomping Willow that protected a passage to the shrieking shack, allowing Lupin to go there during full moons. This way he could go to school and live a normal life. His 3 friends eventually found out he was a werewolf and decided they wanted to spend time with him during the full moons, so they did the steps to become animagai, meaning they could transform into animals like Sirius does. Sirius turned into a dog, Peter turned into a rat, and James turned into a stag. The four friends called themselves the Marauders (they created the Marauders’ Map) and gave themselves the nicknames Moony (because Lupin is a werewolf), Wormtail (Peter turns into a rag and has a worm-like tail), Padfoot (like a dog’s paws because Sirius turns into a dog), and Prongs (because James turns into a stag and has large antlers). When Sirius was in Azkaban, he saw the picture of the Weasley’s family trip to Egypt, and Ron was holding Scabbers (Peter). Since Peter framed Sirius and had James and Lily killed, Sirius decided to escape prison to hunt him down. He escaped by transforming into the dog, which the dementors couldn’t detect. Since everyone thought Sirius was guilty and Peter was dead, they all assumed Sirius was trying to kill Harry. Also, becoming an Animagus is very difficult, so wizards often need professional help to do so, and they have to register for it with the Ministry so that the Ministry can keep track of everyone and what animals they turn into. James, Sirius, and Peter did it themselves in school, so the Ministry had no idea Sirius could turn into a dog. If they had know that, he would’ve been held in a different cell or something and they would’ve hunted him down a lot easier. Hope that clears things up!

Each movie cover one school year, so Harry was 11 during the first one, 12 during the second, so for this one, he's 13 and the time between each movie is basically the time covering summer vacation. Also, it's not mentioned in the movies, but Hermione is born in September, so she was actually 12 in the first movie.
