I liked this show. Btw the actress who plays the lawyer Alex ended up dating Matt LeBlanc (Joey) for 8 years. Also we see guest actors in this show who end up being successful in Hollywood.

The actress playing Joey's sister also had a recurring part on Sopranos, anyway years later she did OnlyFans and she said she never made as much money as onlyFans, crazy

I loved Joey! I actually still have both seasons on dvd somewhere. It’s really funny in its own way but agree you have to just take it as its own standalone show and not a spin off. If you compare it too much to friends or expect to have constant referrals to friends characters/storyline’s (which in real life you’d assume there would be) then you will be disappointed but I say to the naysayers give it time it’s honestly an easy fun watch with a good cast.

This was a very odd show. Because basically the creators and Matt LaBlanc threw away everything you knew about the character Joey and started from scratch rebuilding him from the ground up as somthing else. It's like Build A Bear, but Joey. It's not the same character from the show Friends. When you let go of any preconceived notions from the previous series and accept this alternate reality version of Joey, it makes it a lot easier. The second topic of note is the actor playing his sister is, oddly, the Joey Tribianie from Friends of this show. Meaning, not dumb, not wholesome and cuddly and lovable, but an absolute scene stealer and comedy Goat. She came from over on The Sopranos after she completed her character's story arc. She outshines everybody by half on this show. If they didn't have her, there would be no series. It's a fascinating television footnote of spin off history. Friends is so iconic and the gold standard for situational comedy excellence that anything spun off from it would pale in comparison. But, the fact the jumping off point premise-wise is this parallel universe Joey guy moving out to LA to pursue his dream to be an actor which is a young mans game in an industry obsessed with youth and he is kick starting doing all this at the crisp ol' age of 36? Come on. And they don't bother to address this glaring issue in the least or acknowledge this elephant in the room delema at all, but seem to write him as though he were a man of 19 years of age which is just bizarre. If it tackled the idea head on of a man four years from middle age attempting to achieve a career in La La Land this late in the game, there could've been something interesting and profound there to explore and dive into about aging and managing realistic expectations when governing ones life. But they chose the ignorance is bluss route and pretended the central obvious issue staring us all in rhe face doesn't exist. This creates an unspoken conceit to every scene in the show that prevades every single second of every single episode of the entire run of its brief two season run. And that is an underlying feeling of sadness and desperation to the titular character and series itself that was unintentional and not meant to be there which works in direct opposition to the comedy objectives of the shows' intentions. It feels like a series of functional adults wandering this Earth who are wildly delusional and should be medically evaluated and medicated immediately.
