It's one of the many things I love about Lost. Every answer invariably only leads to more questions, so that even on repeat viewings, it still holds some mystique.
Even though I love Lost, I'm glad that the Mrs. is honest in saying that her expectations are not high for the show instead of faking her excitement. 👍
I was the same way. I resisted watching until it was in it's sixth season. But once I watched the first episode I was HOOKED. Now it's my favorite show of all time.
women tend to scream as a way to alert men (protectors) of danger and that they are in need of help. Men will often instinctively react to the screams of a woman in danger.
This first season of Lost won the Emmy for Best Drama over shows like The West Wing and 6 Feet Under and everyone was like "Well yeah, that's not surprising at all."
Lost is a television adventure! You will constantly be asking questions and developing theories. Every rewatch reveals something new and the love for the characters, music, and mysteries continues to grow.
WHY YOU SHOULD LIKE LOST: This show was a gamechanger on television (especially network television). LOST combined multiple genres of TV, tossed aside many common (and tired) tropes for its time (although many later shows borrowed from LOST which became tropes of their own) and it was very strongly a CHARACTER-DRIVEN serial drama. It combined elements of drama, mystery, suspense, romance, sorrow, fantasy and the occasional comic relief into one tightly-wrapped show. It was the first major show to employ the use of "flashbacks" to help familiarize audiences with who these characters were before they arrived on the island. These flashbacks -- as well as the events on the island -- helped us formulate or even change opinions about many of the characters. I have a nice list of what I consider the best shows in television history. This includes shows like THE SOPRANOS, BREAKING BAD, GAME OF THRONES and others. However, I often rank LOST ahead of all of them. In fact, I think that the show actually ages well (like a fine wine) to the point that subsequent viewings feel even better than the first run.
@@kevinerose - I would argue that Season 4 of GAME OF THRONES might be one of the greatest seasons of TV in history. I'd also argue that the final episode of Season 6 might be one of the greatest single episodes in TV history too.
@@kevinerose Season 2 is probably the most boring one, it really peaks in season 4 - some amazing moments through season 6.... 7 & 8 is where the "controversy" lies :)
The creators of Lost have sited Twin Peaks as a huge inspiration (which is probably why I love Lost so much too). Twin Peaks is generally accepted as the game changer of EVERYTHING that came next. Anyone who was there in the early 1990s will know what I mean.
Oh, another team of LOST reactors. Great, I am on board. This show is great. And I love Mr. for saying "Can’t tell you that." LOST is all about finding out for yourself. I am excited.
One of my favorite tv shows of all time. You're in for a treat. And why you should like it ? Top tier emotional rollercoaster for sure, amazing characters in every corner, great storytelling, twists and cliffhangers that will left your lower jaw hanging, I mean REALLY hanging.
Welcome to the "LOST" family." 🌴🛫🌄🛬🌴 Awesome first reaction. TRIVIA: The original ending of this episode was to see Jack { he would have been played by guest actor Michael Keating } die and take the place of the pilot in the tree and have Kate become the leader of our castaways aka Losties but the powers that be decided to keep Jack alive so they revamped the character of Jack and hired Matthew Fox for the role. Shortly after filming the pilot the actors who play Kate { Evangeline Lilly } and Charlie { Dominic Monaghan } began dating in real life and they remained a couple for four seasons of the show.
Well glad you’re honest about your first impressions. You have barely scratched the surface so definitely continue. The reason I love the show is that it’s 17 years later and I’m just as excited about the show as when I first watched it. I predict you will be hooked after about episode 4. I’ll subscribe for now. I hope y’all finish. 😃
This is one of my favorite tv shows. And after watching every episode multiple times especially the ending I still have questions that are unanswered. That’s how crazy this show is.
Dominic Monaghan who plays Charlie was one of the Hobbits on Lord Of The Rings so I was naturally curious about this show he was in. I was hooked on this show after the first two episodes! Evageline Lily was also in The Hobbit Movie trilogy as Tariel the elf.
Well I definitely have to subscribe for Lost reactions! Hope she likes it. Greatest show ever imo. Excited to see more of her reactions. Glad he is watching too and that he is not constantly interrupting her reaction.
If you can make it through episode 4 or 5, you'll know if you want to keep watching. But LOST is really good at adding new mystery that is actually appealing, while answering questions at a trickle. I don't want to give a favorite character because that indicates the character is still alive later.
Dexter and LOST are very different but both 2 of the best shows ever made in my opinion. The impressive thing about LOST is that it was on ABC and couldn't have much profanity if any. I think LOST season 1 is probably the best overall season of any TV show made. It just had that special something about it. Everything done very well- with a lot of passion behind it from everyone involved.
The first 10 minutes of the pilot episode is one of the best series openings of all time. Just outstanding. You get introduced to a bevy of characters with practically no dialogue to do the exposition. I can't really go into who my favorite characters are without spoiling anything, so I'll just say that the characters' rankings in my mind constantly moved up and down the list lol...Also as pointed out, this really is a character-driven show as much (if not more than) it is a mystery series. You REALLY get to know the characters and care for them/worry about them/hate them/etc. The acting is great as well, as you will see.
This is one of my favourite shows ever. I've been through it a handful of times, and now I am so bloody stoked to watch you go through it and tear it to pieces as it drives you mad with questions that don't ever get answered. This is gonna be fun!!
Why you should like LOST? A lot of current shows likely wouldn't be here for you to enjoy if it weren't for LOST. It introduced a whole new way to tell stories on TV. Characters. Mystery. Action. Cliffhangers.
I think she'll like it because of the mystery of things... Also my favorite character from Season 1 hasn't been actually been named yet. So I can't say who it is. No spoilers, ya know? ;)
Easily first season is John Locke for favorite. And if she likes a show that answers some questions every episode but leaves even more at the end.. than she will enjoy it. I actually haven't met a single person that didn't like LOST
For the longest time, I thought that Sawyers actor could have made a decent Snake Plissken in an escape movie. Just throw an eye patch on him and call him snake.
"What were you doing in the bathroom?" "That's kind of an odd question. It's a bathroom. What do you _think_ I was doing? You may want to light a match before you go in there, though. The flush mechanism doesn't work right."
i watched lost every monday when it came out - i was admittedly far too young to be watching it (9 when it started) but i absolutely loved it, and i still do. i've yet to do a full rewatch but i will defend it to the death. i hope you enjoy it!
You guys are so much fun to watch... "well... the engine stopped."😂 As much as the Mrs. rips up mysteries on Dexter, I can't wait to hear her tackle the stuff that's coming up here! There's no way she won't be frustrated, but please let her know about how starting with season 4, the showrumners knew they had 6 seasons to wrap everything up and the pacing really picks up. As does the weirdness. I'm looking forward to many months of "WTF faces" as she sees where the show goes. Please hang in there - it's worth it, and it's going to be a blast for us to watch!👍🏼✈️🌴🐼👟
Remember watching this on TV when it's first came out. It was so different so fresh much better quality than was going on on TV at these moment. I watched 2 or 3 seasons
Actually (pushes glasses up nose) Jack was originally going to be played by Michael Keaton. He had agreed to do it because the character died in the pilot movie (he didn't want to be a regular on a TV show then). The network read the script and told Abrams & Lindelof that they couldn't introduce a character like that only to kill him off to shock the audience. So Keaton pulled out and Fox was hired to be a series regular. You may have been mixing this up with Justified where Walton Goggins character (Boyd Crowder) was going to be shot dead by Raylan at the end of the pilot. They shot it that way but had already sort of decided to change it because they loved Goggins' performance so much.
I can't imagine the nightmares the Mrs. has with her choice of films but I am guessing now that she's a nurse or someone with medical training. The fact about L O S T is that, if you don't start at the beginning and watch it sequentially, you really will be lost. You can't miss an episode or two and pick it up again without thinking "what did I miss?" so you have to watch it all in sequence which is a big investment in time.
Great reaction! You have a new subscriber. One of my favorite shows! I came into it around season four and binged through them all quickly. My parents would normally not watch something like this. I had them watch the first episode and ended it there. They both wanted to watch the next and the next and the next.
Great show, hope it grows on you! I think it does for most people, where at first you kinda sorta see the charm, and then once you start getting invested into the characters and getting their back stories and the storylines get going it becomes addictive.
Thanks for reacting to my favorite show of all time, you have a new subscriber. I loved this show from beginning to end. The story and the mystery of the island are great but all these years later it is the characters I came to love that I can't let go of.
"what good is screaming going to do?" .. In some situations, folks aren't rational. Screaming is an intuitive tension release .. for instance, if i find i can't choose between Catsup and Ketchup, i find screaming helps ease the decision making process.
@@TheCalPH I've been through plenty of emergencies, life and death situations, and yes, I remained 100% rational. Not everyone does that, certainly, but don't think that nobody can be.
Lost was my absolute favorite show of all time while it was on. I love all the characters. Love Hurley and Charlie of course. Sawyer was my favorite though. Never understood why Kate liked Jack. He is so boring with daddy issues. Sawyer was where it was at. Also liked the villainous character yet to be introduced Ben.
You'll fall in love with many of the characters. You'll slowly learn more about each of their backgrounds (and motivations). The beauty of this TV show was "back in the day" there were mainly just Reality TV shows and Cop/Court drama TV shows on TV. This show was a breath of fresh air, with intriguing characters and a story that keeps you wanting to now what happens next. Trust me...you'll start getting hooked soon. It's one of the few TV shows I own on DVD that has re-watchable ability. Enjoy the ride!
Your channel always pops up on my feed and today I said, what the hell. Your reaction to Shannon hooked me! Subbing now. LOST is the greatest show ever. I have the numbers tattooed on my arm 😁
One of my favorite shows of all time. it became a near Cult, around all things Lost related and speculations. After all these years i still feel that i know these chraracters so well. They really are the essence of the show. Watch out for DHARMA!!! All the best, take care. P. S: the soundtrack is awsome too
It's not easy to turn off those turbine engines. You have to cut the fuel supply off, judging from the explosion I am guessing the pilots didn't get a chance to do that.
I know this review was done a while ago- but after only the pilot episode(s), you should like lost because of how mysterious/intriguing it starts out as being, and the quick chemistry between the few characters that we know. Like Charlie says at the end of the episode "Guys, where are we?" And that's exactly right. Where are they and what is going on?
There is so much to love about this show, but aside from the storytelling, the character development, and the mysteries, you have to single out the amazing production value and cinematography, along with the utterly fantastic score by Michael Giacchino. Favorite character from Season 1: Jack. And Vincent, the dog. ** Amanda Knox was accused of murdering her roommate, Meredith Kercher. **
lost will leave you confused and a little dazed although i watched the entire show week to week like a junkie ( pre streaming) man did it not nail the landing like Damon Lindelof's masterpiece ''The Leftovers'' did that was the show lost was trying to be and it only took 3 seasons to create one of the greatest shows ever to be made (simply MUST watch) still an all lost is worth the watch even though its heavy lifting its still fantastic....but if you wanna go real deep dive for the reason shows like lost exist you have to watch the most original piece of tv ever created ''Twin Peaks'' it changed tv history forever....what a trip.
I never watched this show when it was super popular and all people talked about, during like airing of season 5 I started to watch on netflix, i binge watched the first 4 seasons in a week.
Hello from Alaska ! I just found your channel this weekend and watched all of the Alien and Predator reactions , I really enjoyed them ! Your reactions are very fun to watch !
